Disney is basically the empire now
How fitting...
My money on Disney becoming the IRL version of Buy 'N Large
Minh Bui oh my lord...😂😂
Have been BOYCOTTING disney star wars at cinemas since December 2015. Fuck disney and its mary jedi sue. I will not give bob iger £25.00 at the cinema fuck disney cunts!
And he's FABULOUS......Kuzco reference....in case you missed it
Netflix is pretty much the standard streaming service like UA-cam is the standard online video service. I don't think anybody is dropping UA-cam for an alternative, just like I don't think people are dropping Netflix for Disney.
Yeah Disney will have some huge movies to offer, but Netflix is the standard. People have put lots of time in the service and to let that go because they want to watch Iron Man again? I don't think so. Not if they're in the middle of watching Stranger Things. (which is one of the most popular shows of all time) I don't think Netflix is going to take much of a hit.
People have already chosen Netflix. Nobody asked to chose again.
Carson Whaley choose*
I would also like to say that Disney's streaming service will have Disney branded stuff. No matter who you are, no one can get their movie/TV show fill on Disney alone. Netflix has variety and will do stuff that Disney will never do.
But just think about everything Disney would have: every Marvel movie, every famous fox movie, the simpsons, all the Star Wars movies, the Clone Wars, every animated Disney and maybe Pixar movies, X-Men, Deadpool, Fantastic 4. Vs Netflix Original Series and random miscellaneous movies. Disney would have the market for families because they have movies like Frozen etc. They would have the market for teens and young adults with Star Wars and Marvel. I'm not sure Netflix would be able to compete with that after maybe 2-4 years into the service.
Let me tell you this. I have CBS Access, CBS's streaming service. My dad got it for Star Trek Discovery and nothing else and he still uses Netflix.
Sorry I'm not getting your point here. Could you please elaborate before I make a fool out of myself assuming. Thanks lol
Thanks for your editorial. I'm a MASSIVE diehard Disney fan but I'm starting to see some of the same ruthlessness that occurred when Michael Eisner was CEO back from the late 80s to the early 2000s. It's why Roy Disney Jr.--Walt's NEPHEW--left the company in the first place. And I'm glad to see that the company has turned around from plateauing like it did a decade ago but at the same time... I'm not okay with stuff like this. And now with the whole Star Wars debacle with movie theater showings, it's all the more upsetting.
It feels like Disney is kind of turning into a No-Face (the greedy monster in Spirited Away) and it's hurting the industry and mouse-eared fans a little bit. Sure, you can charge theaters more to show your movie or park guests more to enter your park but is it in line and spirit with the initial intention and integrity of the company? I feel that it doesn't and this saddens me greatly.
Scarlet Serenade but since u said your a diehard Disney fan your still going to go to the movies buy the merchandise and go to the park so u feeling a little sad doesn't mean anything unless your willing to show them your not going to take it anymore by not going to the movies not buying the merchandise and not going to the parks until your willing to do that h being a little sad doesn't me anything
But Eisner was a much, much better Disney CEO than Iger has been and ever will be!
"I need my Marvel check." - Collider - Just perfect.
"If there's one company that's basically a government, it's Disney". Clearly someone forgot about Apple.
Nah, Apples been a government.
*cough* google *cough cough*
Gemnist
....Google.
The AtZ Show Eh, you're probably right.
Other guys: Totally. But Apple is worse.
This isn't even the worst part of Disney. The fact that they own so much shit is one thing. But because its Disney these things will never lose copyright. The company will own all this shit forever. They will own the stories of Star Wars forever. You will never be able to publish a book set in the Star Wars universe. Companies are practically immortal and them owning shit means those things never go out of copyright.
But can they own KONAMI...!?
Nice commentary. Props for addressing this as most critics just bow down and worship anything Disney spits out and don't bother truly analysing their media or business practices. Subbed
You really don't know how many financial flops Disney produces each year.
I think it's a little more complex too when you get into it. A shift in ownership of these properties also mean a shift in a broader sense of power. It's not strictly speaking limited to that industry, it can broaden out to where they could potentially affect others as well. Not just streaming services, but merchants too. Amazon, Walmart, Google Play Movies, Apple, or any other I haven't named. They need more checks in place
It’s kinda funny that this happened around the same time that EA had their Battlefront 2 crisis. Maybe this is a time of reckoning for all of these big, money-hungry companies. They’re beginning to see that their bullshit will not go unnoticed.
I like your content, dude. Had to stop there a bit to figure out why it was you were talking about Avengers vs. X-Men and Disneyflix but once I got that, I got it. Love your stuff. Keep doing it.
Disney technically owning Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia and That 70s Show doesn't sit right with me
olivia slusser
...Same.
olivia slusser it doesn't sit right with me cause of them getting the fox channel and I could loose Gotham cause it's not a marvel property it's a dc property which is under warner bothers and they would have no reason to keep it on the air
kevin10001 sadly, gotham is on its last season this year :((
I’m honestly scared for a future where all these sci fi franchise have no creativity left and they all feel the same. I like marvel movies, but they’re all starting to feel the same and I’m kind of getting over them. I came out The Avegengers feeling startstruck and watching it multiple times I’m cinemas. I came out infinity War feeling like I wasted my money because it didn’t really give me any feeling at all. Didn’t hate it, didn’t like it, I just felt nothing. It’s all just the same thing. Hearing everyone react in the movies made me sad cause I felt nothing. All just so predictable, felt like the characters were all the same in different skins. Then I remember The Last Jedi and feeling like it was more of a marvel movie than a Star Wars movie, and maybe that’s why I didn’t like it. That’s what happens when a company with a winning formula monopolies everything, no creativity, it’s all just the same.
I think you're getting delusional. As if you've watched too much of such commentaries and you're starting to think everything is the same.
The Last Jedi's biggest problem was giving the director too much creative control.
I am honestly quite disappointed in the addictive consumption people act with Disney properties. I watch and purchase the MARVEL movies, and I enjoy the occasional animation be it Disney or Pixar, but this company just does not have a pull for me and that’s because of not only my lack of interest in many of their products, but also due to how they’ve hurt products I enjoyed in the past.
Spectacular Spider-Man and Tron: Uprising are some of my favorite cartoons, both taken by Disney. Most MARVEL movies nowadays are getting progressively formulaic and safe, the NETLFIX shows are pushing the opposite spectrum side by being vulgar and revealing when they had a perfectly good balance with the two Daredevil seasons, I’ve not been impressed by ANY animated Disney movie since Wreck-It-Ralph, and am only excited for Incredibles 2, and their pathetic Big Hero 6 film stole the Oscar award from the rightful LEGO Movie AND/OR How To Train Your Dragon 2.
Their live-action fairytales are dying and mediocre, Pirates Of The Carribean has dried out, and Star Wars... It’s just making people mad.
If the big movement was to actually boycott Disney, I’d have little hesitation. Being so dependent on this empire is unhealthy.
Should I mentioned Disney's original films like Tomorrowland, Wrinkle in Time, Nutcracker, Artemis Fowl, and that new Christmas film coming soon to Disney+...!?
Great video as always, and god bless you for including the outro song in the discription
Disney will never be dominated, ever. The company is god.
They own your children.
SMALL g.
They were in a very bad situation up to the 90s
i mean
....Kinda true.
They own everyone, not just the children
I moved overseas a few yrs ago and was COMPLETELY unaware to this event right here. So thank u for bringing it to light and clueing me in.
Sadly~~~ yeah we feed the mouse, but as a consumer, I must note that it isn't mindless feeding we're doing, it's cuz they're THAT good. So yeah, it's great that some powers banded together and checked Disney... but does it sound ridiculous if I say "Someone ELSE besides Disney make something interesting and divide the market PLEASE!"
Otherwise, as long as they keep recruiting talents n turning out sure-win products, we r all suckers at their immensely entertaining mercy 🙈🙈🙈
personally I have always hated disney and everything they represent I do my utmost to not support them in anyway shape or form which unfortunately has become more difficult over the years because they have absorbed so many things I do like; like marvel and pixar so while I still go to see those at the theater if they are good I don't follow or support anything else they do because of things like this article where they show their true colors they genuinely believe that they can steamroll anyone and they can but only if we let them their power like you said comes from us so I personally I'm not going to give them any more fuel than I have to
pixar was already a dsney company. the frst ever pixar movie was toy story which was a disney movie. what drugs were you on in the 90s that you didnt know that
You could pirate movies. It's pretty easy but make sure you use good add blockers and a VPN and be careful with what download buttons you press. I would also recommend using your phone to download because they usually have pretty good anti viruses already on them.
w h i t e n o i s e Disney didn't buy Pixar until 2006. Why don't you check out the history between Pixar and Disney. It was never a happy business agreement due to Disney's greediness and bullying. Even Steve Jobs just kinda gave up and sold out to Disney. If Steve "Apple is God" Jobs bows down to the mouse, you gotta realize just how ruthless Disney is in business.
It’s sad that regardless of how relevant and true this video is, no one will do anything to help change it
Hell will freeze over before I get the Disney streaming service.
No lie, but when you mentioned Sarkeesian, I literally thinking about her five seconds before you said it in your video! Hahahaha! Thanks for the great clarification on this topic, Art! Keep these and other discussions going!
On one hand Fox has been doing great with their latest Marvel works giving us the Rated R vision of we wanted to see from our favorite comic book characters, on the other hand we finally can get the mutants back into the regular Marvel cannon and stop with the whole "keeping the universes is apart" it's a really hard choice. All I want is ...for AtZ to review that new Kemba "Delivert" track before he blows up
Please do an analysis video of The Killing of a Sacred Deer
Please do an analysis video of: Only Lovers Left Alive.
yeeees
Of course, Disney overlord has been pretty shitty with their screening policies with the theatres. RT mainly featured shill critics, that why I am pretty boggled how people still considered RT for their choices in watching movie preferences.
I don't care how big they get. If they keep making quality products I'll keep supporting them. I just want to get what I pay for.
I'll keep watching Marvel movies until they are bad. I'll no longer watch Star Wars movies because The Last Jedi was bad.
2019 Disney is doing a streaming service and bought fox
Tbh, it's a bit sad. Disney is already cancelling Fox movies. I bet films like Jojo Rabbit wouldn't be made under the Fox banner.
Disney is continuing to become bigger and bigger. There is one problem with it though: they are so big that a downfall might be big. They already make some serious mistakes, and more mistakes may create a domino effect.
The last sentence was definitely shots fired if I've ever heard one
Question AtZ how would you feel if you were a banned critic?
Honestly, blessed.
Whatever traffic I wouldn’t get from my delayed review just got 10x bigger due to this story.
@@TheAtZShow hell, a hit piece will garner more exposure cause bad publicity will backfire bad
That fake quote grab at 1:33 is hilarious.
Basically, the Fox deal isn't really *taking away* anything from them. Disney is only helping Marvel be *whole* again which sounds fair.
We'll finally get good F4 and consistently good X-Men films.
And for those who think movies like Deadpool, won't happen, fear not. Feige has said he'll do R ratings when they're required.
Leslie Knope True, but isn't it going to be weird them suddenly having to explain their presence where they weren't there before. I mean... That could be tricky.
Sorry, but they take almost everything from them, leaving 21st Century Fox with just News, Sports, and Broadcasting channels. (Btw x-men movies were good, including the Logan one and the Deadpool one)
@@justaguy2183 Some of them are good _individually_ but the FoX-men franchise is such a mess.
What about the cinemas which MUST pay 65% and have show the movie 4 weeks long on the best screen, else it is 75%. Normally, it is 45%.
I hate Disney for that decision and I even don't like them because Disney mostly produces the same shit movies every year, with barely anything to shake up the industry or whatever. Always staying in the safe spot.
Edit: A Disney's Deadpool or Wolverine movie would be awful, since Disney has an anti-R-rated policy.
Pixar does things different btw, not counting them. But studios like Marvel are ugh, nowadays.
Lars2Lars9Lars seeing how much money they make the public seems to enjoy Disney's direction
@light
Because it always is the same popular shit. But that is just disliking.
I hate them because of the 65%-rule they want to do with Star Wars, which basically could destroy some cinemas.
1) Deadpool is overrated and Fox gets no credit for it.
2) Logan follows suit because Fox realised it's mistakes after DP's profit.
3) Your information is incorrect. Disney doesn't have an anti-R policy. At least not Marvel. Feige has stated he's open to R ratings as long as a character actually NEEDS it. Logan didn't NEED an R rating. I've watched it twice and loved it but it never felt like a movie that needed an R rating save for a couple cheap F-bombs.
You're basically another one of those hipsters jumping on the Marvel hate train. They've made a lot different stuff and some of the best CBM's of all time.
Leslie Knope Disney has an Anti-R-Rating policy.
Look it up, Disney never made a R-rated movie.
And Logan needed a R-rating because it is Wolverine. He cuts people apart, there is blood involved in his fights.
Deadpool isn't overrated, it is a good movie and it needed a R-rating.
What you said is true, FOX realised it. ;) Disney has not.
And I'm not on the MCU Hate train, most movies are just okay. I have seen the entire Phase 1 and 2, I got bored of watching those movies.
There barely are any good villains, and Disney has an anti-creativity policy on those movies. Just look up the production of Iron Man 2. ;)
And most movies are the same, it is either Action/Spy or Sci-Fi. We haven't seen the more adult genres, even though most early MCU fans(like me) are now (almost) adults.
Or developing other stuff like games, also very difficult to work with a Disney property.
Just so you know: Disney is destroying the movie industry right now with 65% movies. Cinemas cannot pay that. But hey...it is Disney, Disney cannot do anything wrong right? :D
Btw, R-rated means it has got realistic violence, fans wanted to see blood in a Wolverine movie, we got to see blood in it.
Lars2Lars9Lars
Iron Man series - Sci-fi/action films with comedy.
Captain America series - Political Thrillers.
Guardians of the Galaxy series - Space opera sci-fi with comedy.
Ant-Man - Classic Heist.
Thor 1 and 2 - Mythological sci-fi.
Thor Ragnarok - Sci-fi buddy comedy in space.
Doctor Strange - Psychedelic superhero origin.
Spider-Man Homecoming - Coming of age Highschool movie with a superhero in it.
MCU has given us more in 10 years of its existence than Fox ever could even after 17 years of trying. Also, Deadpool *is* overrated. Cheap unintellectual toilet humour with little to no creativity, a bad villain, a basic plot. The only thing it had going was the character work (exclusive *only* to Deadpool himself). P.S. Fox has *two* good villains. Magneto and Shaw (First Class) and you complain about MCU? MCU has given us Loki, Ego, Alexander Pierce, Red Skull, Winter Soldier, Vulture and recently Hela. None of Fox's villains hold a candle to Loki or Vulutre yet by the way.
Also, MCU =/= Disney. They're *owned* by Disney but the creative freedom lies completely in the hands of Marvel (thus, the fresh content we see every year). And as Feige has time and again stated, *they are open to R rated stuff as long as need be.* They've not had a character that absolutely requires an R rating yet. If they did, they'd do a great job with Deadpool. And I'd also like to clarify that the R rating meant nothing for Logan. What did you see in the movie that you saw and said "THIS IS WHY IT *NEEDED* THAT R RATING"? You might argue blood in action scenes but does that really change anything? I'd say no as will the general (sound minded) audience. After watching Ragnarok, you'll see that an R rating isn't necessary to pull off a masterpiece of an action sequence.
Edit : I do agree with your views on the 65% point though. The rest is mostly objectively incorrect.
I havent watched the video yet but i know it will be great
Yeah you know I gotta have all the DCOMs at my fingertips
Thanks for pointing this out, this is really important. And when you inevitably get sued by 'em; we will remember this case
A mere boycott will not affect them in the slightest.
Sure I hate Disney as a company, but I will always love their films.
And if Walt Disney never made films, my parents would have never met. So I have to like them.
Please start doing podcasts. I love your content
Excellent commentary as always.
I’m just happy to be here!
No major corporation comes close to the size of the U.S. economy. Hundreds of billions vs 10s of trillions. 1 trillion is a shit load more than 1 billion, 500 billion is half of 1 trillion... The largest businesses haven't even crossed 1 trillion. Also every single American business is part of the U.S. economy. So technically a U.S. business can NEVER be larger than the U.S. economy.
The U.S. economy is the strongest economy in the world because of businesses like Google, Walmart, Amazon, and Disney. U.S. GDP per capita is 57,466. Whereas China; the second strongest economy, is around 8,123 GDP per capita.
Just thought I'd make sure that was clear to anyone that really thought a business was even close to the U.S.
Is Disney really buy-n-large?
You are awesome man keep this on
that suprise would be fun
Btw, Disney with a streaming service...
Most Europeans did not grow up at all with Disney Channel, and I did not recognize any movie on that photo.
So, most Europeans will stay with Netflix, as long as it provides enough.
And Netflix is still growing, so yeah.
Idkkkkk, like I said, I did not grow up with those movies: I cannot feel any nostalgia, if there was any.
You should talk about how they are making theatres play their star wars movie in specific ways and are taking a bigger cut
Shoutout to the Ski Mask song at the end.
Ayyyyyyy
Amazing video!!! That’s all I have to say cause you’ve said it all 👌🏽
Disney after buying Lucasarts for example broke all the latters deals with authors and game developers just so they could create their own bullshit version.
Disney actually owns some UA-cam channels that do critiques. Like the co-optionnal podcast UA-camrs, who mentioned once they were owned by Disney (even if it's slightly indirect).
They joke about it, but the fact is they can't freely criticize games that are related to Disney.
Every D-Com at my disposal and entertainment, does sound like a bargain
hey, do a ending explanation about the double starring Jesse Eisenberg
Good job with the video - as always!
0:00 What if I’m talking about Mickey Rourke?
I'll never not like Disney lol
OMG how I hate Disney.
500 Billion Dollar company that is complaining about movie critics.
Same goes for Mirmax studios.
They killed star wars
We need to show Dream works some love ask how they're doing lol
1:32 “ I like DC “ - grace randolph 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
I am sure Disney owns some critics but they don't all the critics. I also believe there are critics that like the Disney movies because get legitimately liked Disney.
I love your videos broski
Thanks!
I had no idea any of this was going on. Will not be paying to see anymore Disney movies not that I have anyway in the past 10 years ha
Disney is an evil company? GASP!
How excited were when you wrote that last line
I've been a patron of Netflix since 2002, there is no way I would switch loyalties if Disney created a streaming service. Not at all. I'm also a HUGE fan of the OLD Star Wars, but right now Stranger Things has my loyalty. George Lucas is gone! EA and Disney has destroyed any likelihood I'd ever spend money on the franchise again(Star Wars). I'm way more exited to see how companies like Netflix, hulu, and even Amazon (jeesus!) are going to pave the future of movies 'tv' shows and the like. Fuck Hollywood, fuck Disney, fuck cable most of all!
Can u please make comics reviews (saga)
really, every disney channel original movie you willing to pay for....... ( *Hercules disappointing meme* )
things changed after infinity war.
was that eddy from thats so raven!
"their gonna pied piper them"
exactly what I was thinking
i wont buy that when i can bootleg it online, cause i dislike disney but i yet ill still pay for netflix
Its there any doubt that the star wars movies are a pasionless cash grab now?
No doubt about it
Marcos Recio some Disney Star Wars movies are cash grabs and some of them has a lot of care put into it I’ll let you guess witch ones witch
Like how Lucas had it With the prequels?
Would be a shame if Collider didn't get its Marvel check
Why Disney have to fight the critics? I thought the critics loved Disney.
first of all no shave november looks good on you second of all good video
Disney deserves to buy out fox and feige will allow Deadpool
"Nah, I'm watching Ep VIII" - AtZ
Your sad if you would buy every movie they make
And fox
Disney is going own everything
TechNOGeek Reviews if you mean the entertainment industry yes
save the movie industry by becoming a pirate. stop bending over and constantly taking it and saying "thank you, sir" afterward. be the change you want to see
If you become a pirate, you won’t even put a scratch in the paint of Disney’s marketing tank. You would need thousands of people to boycott them in order to be noticed. It’s better to not face criminal charges.
Makes you feel tiny in comparison doesn't it?
They own those studios
Too much power please don't touch my Dead Pool damn Disney!!!!!!
nisan lackey too late.
1:32 lol
i care about marvel and star wars movies...
idgaf about the rest tbh
As much as I hate this, Thor Ragnarok is awesome
Nope and not feeding into the stream service they are doing too much im in fight the power mode they are trying to stump all over like Godzilla when they need to be knocked down to at least godzukie level need to cut off some of the heads of that monster don't get me wrong I love me some Disney production but damn already
All Hail Disney!!
Disney pays for good Marvel reviews
And there is always that idiot *facepalm*
We found the dumb fuck.
Nope not buying Disney channel.
All Disney cares about is what's in your wallet. If we all decided to not watch Disney's movie, buy merchandise, go to their theme parks, and ignore Disney in general, they will fall faster than the fat bitch who sat down too fast. Disney will look down at us and shout "Love us." And we will all whisper "No."
Even Stevens Movie is the bomb. Shia needs to get back to his comedic roots and not just in the tabloid crazy antics sort of way
I agree that disney acted childish in this affair. But one remark bothered me. U said disney pays critics for marvel reviews. R u mad? Just bcoz u are a dc guy dont make such stupid remarks without any proof
U forgot that they own fox now
Mentioned
Shout out my mucus
Ayy ayy ayy ayyyyyyyy
You are a big part of the problem. All you are concerned with is some comicbook crossover.
Nah. You forgot the part where I want an 4K Even Stevens movie.
Dude, why the heck are you so cute...
Lay out a mousetrap, put a Star of David on the trap lol
Yes, we do. They keep making quality shit. Let’s be real we gonna forget about this in 20 minutes look already forgot about
@@pyerack But apparently,Disney heard the fans. When majority are angry, companies will notice them.
First dislike
