I remember Martin brundle saying how the Alphatauris always sounded like 2 stroke engines at low speeds compared to the rest
Yeah.. especially when it was still named torro rosso. 2018-2019 torro rosso sounds sick!
It took some years but the V6Ts currently sound very good. They found their own voice. While not as loud as the V8s or as intimidating as the V10s they sound amazing in their own way. I hope the 2026 regs don't screw things up again.
Well the mgu-h is being removed so the should be a bit better I think
@@gamaltk yeah but the electric part is getting 3x bigger. We'll see.
@@hshshshshshshs8831 Won't change the sound, it just means more electric deployment but the ICE is not changing
@@hshshshshshshs8831 the sound without the MGU-H will probably be similar to the current open waste-gate sound, and the MGU-K doesn't affect the sound at all. There were plans to increase fuel flow for higher revs as well, although I'm not sure if the FIA have scrapped that idea or not. In a world moving towards efficiency I can't see F1 wanting to use more fuel than they already do, but it might be a feasible option considering they plan to go to 100% sustainable fuel.
Update: the FIA abandoned plans for increased fuel flow and revs, the document they released said they intend for the 2026 engines to maintain 12000rpm just at a lower fuel flow meaning less power, although that would mean the engines would likely produce more power at around the 10000rpm range anyway so revs might drop.
@@CTcuber4K What impresses me the most is how a tiny 1.6L V6 with a giant turbo stealing all the engine sound and a hybrid system with an MGU-H further silencing the exhaust (not to mention the strict rules about fuel flow) can produce a sound above 120dB with such unique characteristics. I remember that when these engines arrived in F1 they were much quieter, in 2014 the cars basically emitted a hiss below 100dB, and today they sound fantastic, they have characteristic and the personality of each manufacturer. The last sound measurement they did was in 2018, which showed a sound of 123dB in the Ferrari car. For an engine that has the highest thermal efficiency in the world, this is an engineering masterpiece. I can't even imagine how much engineering went into this masterpiece of modern engineering to create something so fascinating. F1 is ART.
Oh that’s hot. Hope you managed to also get the Ferrari on-throttle open turbo waste gate sound.
Sure did

The best sound 😍
He uploaded it :D

Amazing sound! The V6 cannot be fully heard/felt in TV. These things are louder than a V12 Lambo/Ferrari and quicker than a Bugatti/Koenigsegg...the most efficient engine on the planet.

@@JotaV2502 anyone who says this sounds “good” has never heard any other F1 engine lol. Firstly, loud DOES NOT equal good. Secondly, they are not nearly as loud as V8, V10, or V12. And lastly, they sound absolutely terrible when compared side by side to those engines.
In fact, these powertrains are ENTIRELY over engineered. They essentially make 1000 HP at absolute max power, which is only achieved during short stints of the race or parts of a qualifying lap. When also considering the heavy weight, this isn’t much more impressive than NA V10s for example, which were pushing 950HP in qualifying trim and about 850-900 in race. Considering that was 17+ years ago, is it REALLY an advancement?
In fact, the most important thing about this whole debate is the fact that these modern power trains are over-engineered and too costly. They’re complicated…simply for the sake of being complicated. To give the appearance of being “green” (which is F1 and its teams being laughable hypocrites). When looking at the performance, these engines could be outdone by cheaper and lighter, more simple formulas. Honestly, who cares about thermal efficiency if you’re just tying to go as fast as possible? They can LITERALLY make better engines for 25% of the price. I’m not impressed by them and especially not the 2026 rules.
I honestly have never talked to anyone who’s been involved or liked racing for more than 3 years who LIKES these engines and rules. Even drivers like Lewis Hamilton said “he hates they got rid of that sound” and he himself claimed he could barely hear the car in the cockpit. So you don’t have to pretend they sound great..because I just have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m being dead serious when I say it sounds like my electric lawnmower.
@@mikemoggerson6651 What a useless text, you totally got off topic. My point was: these engines shouldn't make any sound, and in fact they produce 120dB. This is the result of an immense effort by manufacturers. Why you nostalgic people can't admire technology?
@@mikemoggerson6651 that's not how liking something works. oH yOu HaVeN'T hEaRd ThE oLd EnGiNeS YES I HAVE OF COURSE THEY SOUND BETTER but i still like the sound of these and anyone that holds that opinion, however hugely unpopular it may be, should not have to be ridiculed just because you are stuck in the past.
@@JotaV2502 I love the V6, however they should be loud, considering they're pretty much an open downpipe single turbo V6, reaching 13.000 rpm and making more than 700hp (ICE power alone). The MGU-H, as I understand, doesn't affect the sound when running full power at quali, where every bit of power is used and not recycled.
Yea, these engine aren’t loud like the v8s or 10s, but they make some really cool sounds! I went to the first race of the era back in 2014 and they were really quiet and from what I’ve heard they’re considerably louder now
You know the V8s and V10s make the same sort of noises right?
They're definitely noticeably louder, but not considerably. The only engine that is considerably louder is the Mercedes, which is by far the loudest on the grid, the Renault still sounds like an quiet electric car with a weird humming noise. In 2019 I was passing by Silverstone and I could hear the V6s faintly from 2.5 miles away. As a kid I was visiting family on the weekend of Goodwood FOS and I could hear the old F1 cars clearly from around 6 miles away. I also went to Silverstone in 2014 and yeah they really weren't loud, could hear a faint whistle for around a 500m radius, and they were about as loud as an average sports car on the flyby's. Worth noting however that the UK is very humid so sound travels faster and get's carried further, for example I can frequently hear Eurofighter Typhoons flying from over 30 miles away.
I went to this race and tbh you would be suprised with how loud they have become. I noticed a pretty big difference with these cars compared to 2018. In my opinion I would honestly consider these v6’s loud.
@@aidankreltszheim3599 now they just need to make them sound good

This is the type of content I’m here for 🙏🏻
I was at the Turkish GP back in '21, heard them in person. They sounded even better with external wastegates.
Nice sounds!
Incredible! Instant sub
Cheers, appriciate it. I have some 2023 F1 downshift and gurgles coming soon.
This is high quality content👌🏼
Ah that’s just awesome! Do you have any vids from the Alpine? That Renault engine makes a beautiful noise too
the alpine in real life sounds like it has a muffler it has a finer sound compared to all the cars on the grid
They’ve had it since 2016 if I remember correctly. Back when Fernando and jenson where at McLaren. Back when it was a GP2 engine.
More Red Bull Racing Please
I can relate to that „OM GAAWD 😩” guy 😂
Would it be possible to use these beautiful sounds for a project I'm working on? Attribution of course included.
ASMR😍
Miss the external gate from last year/previous seasons
Yeah, many people probably don't even know about that change.

Look at Ferrari engine. Still have the wastegate sound. At least Ferrari and Haas, not sure about Alfa Romeo because I didn't see it in the video and Alfa Romeo normally already sounds more muffled than Ferrari and Haas, not sure why. Now I'm even more of a Ferrari fan because of that, the wastegate sound was pretty cool

Have you heard the sound of Mercedes W10 or W11?
0:01 look at the left orange guy taking off headphone
The current engine uses a fresh air antilag, I guess to possibly recover more energy off throttle.
Educate me pls what is fresh air antilag?
@@ellwindaniel9441 it is a type of turbocharger antilag where compressed air from the charge pipe is plumbed directly into the exhaust pre-turbine, bypassing the cylinders. You can get greater exhaust velocity without the added heat to the exhaust ports. Honda uses a hydraulicly controlled valve on each back to vent air from right after each outlet of the compressor to right before each inlet of the turbine.
How does it make that sound?
the honda engines disable 3 cylinders when off throttle or at low revs
@@Dani-yd5mb how would they benefit from this? I'm new to F1 and motorsports in general
@@n00bie96 Possibly they save some fuel and gain some engine reliability. When the 3 cylinders are disabled, no fuel is being pumped into them and no explosions mean less strain on the surrounding components
@@n00bie96 the engine runs cooler, has a more gentle torque curve for drivability out of the corners, and they save fuel. Different teams have had variations on this since 2015, but Honda is the most aggressive.
Where are your vacuum cleaner and V10 comments now?
They still sound like vacuums. Only honda sounds good at low rmp or downshifting. I was lucky to hear the v10 v8 and this v6s in person. I will tell u driving towards the Barcelona circuit around 5 km away from it u could hear the v10. Niether the v8 or this v6 make that much noise.
@@bryancano7753 Whoop there it is. Noise level doesn't equal good sound
@@Holoflux well, the V10 was definetly a better sound, there is no denying that. Just the screames of the damned coming at you at lightning speeds is absolutely terrific. But the V6TTH sound good because it’s an iconic sound, one that no other road or racing car has. Both are good but V10 is better
They sound pretty good. But the V10’s sound much better.
Still here? I mean, a V10 makes the same sort of noises but does it much better

Watch the first car
the moment when you neglect to downshift, so you just start accelerating when the traffic starts moving again and your car makes a cool noise but youre slowly destroying your engine.
I think tue Honda engine is the closest sounding one to the old turbo era engines.
