AND HE CAN STILL SING TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I GO SEE HIM EVERY YEAR WHEN HE COMES TO DAYTON, OHIO IN NOV.. AND BROOKVILLE, IN... THE MAN CAN FLAT OUT SING! ANNOINTED OF GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@42j I refuse to think people in A.A. Allen's congregation were "colorblind" as you presume. Fredrick Douglass, MLK and others before them did not want people to be blind to African Americans color but to recognize & respect us as equal human beings. God created all people with different color's of skin and that is beautiful and should be recognized.
@42j The word "Caribbean" has multiple uses. Its principal ones are geographical and political. The Caribbean can also be expanded to include territories with strong cultural and historical connections to slavery, European colonisation and the plantation system.
seems i am in a rare talking mood this morning. i remember an incident where a tornado set down in east st. louis in the late sixties incidentally it set down right out side of where the a.a. allen tent was pitched. as the winds built to a breath taking leavel allen stood his feet and rebuked the wind! guess what? the wind ceased! the tent came down and was ruined but the wind ceased. the touch down was reported the next day in the st. louis news paper as a freak tornado. for the sceptics...
when you see this a year later please walk me through some of the facts of my family history I don't have the slightest where to start even which is which ...Thanks in advance cooliegee
@cooliegee Funny thing about it is that if your grandparents were both American indian and your father was black and your mother was indian what would you be being born in america? Most people out of ignorance would look at your skin color and say African American out of plain ignorance but in reality they just an American citizen with indian & black heritage
friend i was there, and i can assure you that miracle valley and a.a.allen revivals were only a few places other than a few hippie communes where racism was somewhate abated. even in the allen camp there were few blacks that served on his board in administration positions i remember at least 3 over timethey were there but few. allen took a personal stand on civil rights and integration. of all the former voice of healing prreachers he was alone in this . more in next post....
@42j Would you refuse the term "Italian-American" if you were Italian? Would you refuse the term "Irish" if you were from this ethnic background? In order to correct something "unfair or wrong" you must first "recognize" what is "right or just". Thank God for men who fought against the racism/prejudice of that era. It needs to continue daily in our present day churches & communities. I know Fredrick Douglass or Martin Luther King would not have a problem with embracing their origin "Africa".
@42j I'm not disclaiming Africa no more then American born Italians or Jews disclaim Italy or Israel. Are you learning about the history of "Africans" in "America" during the colonization era, civil war and the pre-civil rights era?
@42j I don't have to try to be African it's in my DNA. They way I walk, talk, dance, shout, sing, celebrate etc. Today's American culture has been heavily influenced by African Americans in Africa and worldwide! Please research this before you answer, thanks.
sadly the degree of love shown for black people during that era by a. a. allen wasnt shown by the others. oral roberts, had many black followers but never went out of his way for them nore took a definite stance on the institutional racism that existed during his time. if the rope that separated the people came down so beit but oral never refused to take it down. allen was a unique man in many ways i was blessed in my youth to have grown up in the presence of his ministry and i have some tales!
@42j My family history is well documented through oral and official government documents. (i.e. birth records) What is it that you really want to get across to me? I can't be African because I wasn't born in Africa?? Here's where I say you totally "ignore" the facts of history. LISTEN! I'm not disclaiming "Africa" no more then "American" born Italians or Jews disclaim "Italy" or "Israel"! All of my post have been backed up with "facts" that are well documented in your local library or internet.
@cooliegee Yes i would refuse the term Italian American if i truly wasn't Italian American and so would i if i were called Irish American which i do have in my blood as well as indian but there is no need for me to go back to reclaim all of my history or i would be as confused as many black americans are who claim to be so called african americans. It is a ignorant term used because the person who initiated it never once thought that a white person could be african american.
@cooliegee WHAT History do i need to know about Africans in America? Do Hatians and Jamaicans claim to be Haitian Africans or Haitian Africans? No and they look more like Africans than you or I do and some are even still as pure from there as when they settled there but we are not and you cannot directly tie every parent before your parents back to Africa without there being some mixing going on or i would somewhat believe what it is that you have to say but since I know and you know you can't.
@cooliegee so your dna is 100% African? NO but its mixed with other races so regardless of what you say you were born in America and again you have not addressed what your birth certificate says and it says, black and it says american and thats it. It doesn't matter what the influence is cause i could have been influenced by Hispanics but that doesn't make me hispanic.
@cooliegee None of what i said is "what if", or supposed, that is your own assumption because you have No Facts to back up your arguement or right now i would have agreed with you and the conversation would have been over but since you have no facts then you will soon find someone else to argue this with. Alot of Africans brought to this country are or have been mixed since they have been here and you can't deny it so how can you claim to be African? your grandparnet may be american indian
@42j Everything you talk about is on the basis of "what if" or "suppose". I am talking of facts that you can research for yourself. Not all Africans brought to America were enslaved, therefore not all African-Americans are of mixed heritage. Haitians, Jamaicans, are Africans, they too were brought to the caribbean islands during the slave trades.
@cooliegee You are American born if you are born in the USA and you are not african cause you were not born in Africa so why even try to claim that? People don't claim dual citizenship unless born in another country and become natrualized to another which makes complete sense but to have no connection with being born somewhere and claiming ancestry when your bloodline has been mixed over the years makes no sense. Only thing we have a right by repentance to claim is Jesus Christ as our saviour
the kind of racism that has existed for over one hundred and forty years in america is peculiar soley to white people as it is power based and not simple prejudice that you find among all "races" of human beings. allen by the way allens mother was an indian woman and he found a father figure in a black man whom his mother took up with when he was a child. He confided in my late pastor sylvester haynes that there were times when he wished himself to have been a black man.(go figure?)
@cooliegee Exactly! What i said from the beginning. Historical facts or not If i were a gambling man i'd bet my paycheck that your birth certificate DOES NOT say African-American. And you are a American citizen by birth and a black american. Italian Americans most of which are old are so because they came to this Country being Italian and becoming a American Citizen hence the term Italian- American but in reality they are Italians FBI. You are not full blooded African in no way.
@cooliegee You were born on US soil i believe and if you were that makes you a American not African and if you go to Africa you will Not even be recognized as being African so why try to be what you are not. You don't even speak the language lol. c'mon man just admit that you are just a American Citizen and here by choice. People that have Indian Heritage don't go around claiming to be African-Indians or Euro-Indians so why claim African-American?
Maybe you should read the posts of others who were there before makings such an assumtion. I don't think MLK or Mr Douglass if they were alive today would approve of the term "african american". We would all be the children of GOD and not be called by something we are not. I am a proud Black American but before i am that i serve a GOD who see past our color which is our ignorance.
