Wow im glad i watched this video... You are 100% right CD drives are 100% obsolete.
Thank you I learned a lot
I've got a R620 in my homelab and there's also a SD card slot on the front, to the right of the two USB 2.0 slots. Don't know if you can boot off it, as I've never tried. I use the replacement tray option for booting, but you could get an adapter cable 13 pin sata to 22 pin sata if you want to use a external drive or a sata port multiplier for more drives.
I have this same server and want to add expansions for sound and GPU. I have windows and Linux running on it and use it as my PC
Great content. How would I locate where the current OS is located. Thank you for your help
Thanks for the video. What is the size of the DVD caddy that you used for your R620 server?
If I am just running VMware ESXi, does the speed matter between the Flash drive and SD card since ESXi loads up in memory?
Thanks for the great idea. Didn't even know that a ssd DVD caddy was available like that. You should put a link to Amazon so that you might get an affiliate. Anyway thanks for the idea. I Subscribed and liked 👍
can you add the instructions in configuring the SSD and USB drives?
I will be doing an OS installation video. It will be a tutorial install. I recorded this OS install but there was just to much i had to cut out for security concerns and this needed to be up and running quickly.
Do you Know Cheap HDDs for Dell R620? Because they are 2,5 ?
The drives are 2.5". That size is very common among SSDs and HDDs. I will be making a video on the drives I picked.
@@curiouscorpse5450 The 2,5 HDDs are Not so cheap as HDDs
HI What drives are compatible with the Dell R620 server.
This depends mostly on your RAID controller in your system.
Generally speaking the backplane of the r620 is capable of running SAS and SATA drives.
SAS is a bit faster and more expensive
SATA works well (if you use SSDs especially)
@@tivonh7075 thank you. i had to use a megaraid controller in order to see my sas drives. the integrated perc 310 card did not see the drives.
Stoarge ?
Storage!
