Load Reduced DIMMs put less strain in the electric aspect of the CPU-Memory communication and that (probably) is why you can use more ranks. The advantage of having more ranks is the memory controller's ability to access the ranks in sort of a parallel way. RDIMMs have the ability to buffer the memory requests but not on the delivery while LRDIMMs buffer both operations. Buffering is productive because fetching SDRAM contents is slow so being able to buffer and use the idle time to access other requests while one is being dealt with improves overall transmission rate. LDRAMs, because they can also buffer the requested data, are able to pace their output giving the electric structure more time to recover from the transients (the sudden change) of the data transmission from the memory stick to the processor.

I love workstation/server build videos. But I definitely love aesthetics haha. I have 3 x Rosewill 4U Chassis currently (I had 7 at one point; multiple variants) and using ASUS dual CPU black PCB motherboards (x99 era, Xeon V4s), RGB RAM, etc. I'm hoping to put acrylic windows onto the top of the case soon and repaint the interiors all black and outside white. I'm constantly looking at other cases, like from Slinger and Silverstone and even going back to tower cases, like the Anidess Raider XL but end up just continuing to appreciate the Roseill case. Anyway, fun to watch a build from years ago!

Worked perfectly, I updated a X10DAX following the exact instructions replacing text for my bios. Using this after trying out Z10PE-D16WS giving me trouble for years, good riddance ASUS, Supermicro for the win!

Good video!. I found it helpful. I did a BIOS update on my computer. But after the update, I did the A/C power cycle. After power on again, the POST message showed it was still in FLASH MODE. I tried everything to resolve it. Ultimately, your video helped me. There was an LED light for the DVD drive which remained on. I UNPLUGGED everything. Next, I pressed the POWER BUTTON and held it until the LED light went OFF. After that, I plugged in the power cables again. Power on. The message is gone. It is NOT in the FLASH MODE now. Problem resolved. Your video helped me, when you said to ensure "all the lights are off." That was the solution. Thank you! :)

OMG! Thank you so much, i have been strugligng with this for the last couple of days, since i couldnt find the correct files on broadcoms site. But downloading the files from Supermicro did the trick. :-D

I need your WVF6J, converting some r620s from diskless to have h710p mini raid with local disks for a small project. PITA to find the proper internal cables, unless you have kept them all from server rebuilds and recycling from the datacenter!

WARNING! The DOS method of BIOS update is no longer supported by Supermicro. They require you to use Built-In UEFI Shell approach. This is true for the Supermicro X11DAi-N motherboard and is sourced from the ReadMe instructions from Supermicro. I can't say if other motherboards have also eliminated DOS updating method. READ your instructions first usually under the NOTES section.

nice video but i have alittle problem, mine is a quadro K4100M and when im downloading it the option of choosing between a standard or DCH dont pop up and it downloads the DCH one which is not compatible with my computer, how can i donwload the standard one?

Supermicro didn't include a readme with the BIOS update for my board, so this video was very helpful!

You forget one thing to do. After everything is completed one last step need to be done due to major windows update may try to push hardware update. Device Installation Settings in Windows 10 By default, Windows automatically downloads driver software and their detailed info for your devices. If you don't want Windows to do this task, you can go to change device installation settings, referring to the following instruction. Apart of that great video.

If I am just running VMware ESXi, does the speed matter between the Flash drive and SD card since ESXi loads up in memory?

Thanks, I have X11DAi-N and the read.txt only mentions the SUM tool. But there is another zip within the zip that I first missed. That one had instructions on how to boot into the Built-In UEFI Shell and upgrade in a similar way as in this video.
