Based on what I figured out myself shooting full autos (non-military), it's more about keeping a good distance between the foot that's forward and the foot that's rearward. When you do this your knees will of course be bent, but you'll also have much more leverage against the rifle that's attempting to rise and push back on you. If your feet are side by side, you'll have little leverage against the rifle, even if your knees are bent.

@@bodyno3158 yeah I know that. But it begs the question how he got his hands on a genuine full auto C8 lower that based on the wear it has, was likely issued and somehow wound up in the USA.
@@burnyburnoutze2nd I'd say that question you asked would worth a video for Larry to make, I'm sure this C8A2 lower had some stories behind that cute scratched black aluminum thingy. @@jpmonster68 yeah no bud. If that's an 80%, they did a pitch perfect job at simulating wear and tear of an actual military issued lower, let alone all the markings. How do I know what this type of wear looks like; I'm in the Canadian forces. I've handled dozens upon dozens of issued C7 and C8 rifles, ranging from almost brand new to so heavily used the anodizing is practically gone. That lower was an issued lower. No mistake about it.
@tvercetti1 that would make sense. If colt Canada didn't have a facility that is far superior to what colt has now. And that lower was an original c8 or c7 lower from the 1980s when we initially adopted it to replace the C1A1 rifle (FN FAL). We made our own changes to the M16 design without Colts input. We actually reject a lot of changes with the M16A2 and kept M16A1 features on our original C7 (A1 rear sight, full auto Fire control group instead of burst etc).
Leaning into it also has the side effect of shifting the fulcrum from the toe to the heel of the stock which reduces or eliminates muzzle rise on an in-line system such as an ar15.
Excellent stuff as always! My time with full auto guns is limited..but I can totally agree! It took me a couple of mags to figure it out..but very controllable. Wish we could get the nfa repealed! Thanks for everything you do LAV! ✌
AR's have so little recoil. Just did some training with it on auto and I pushed the acog into the lip on my ach and I didn't have that much of a problem with it. Sweet to finally use an M4A1 on auto after 5 years in.

Great tip! Thanks Larry! I would have loved to see a better view on camera of your stance. You do an awesome job of describing it but I would have liked to see it too! Love your content either way!
You know what? It also works with handguns, some instructors say, "it all happens above the waistline", but even when performing isosceles, if one feet is in front and you lean forward, recoil control is better and mentally it's more aggressive.
Good tips, I see you shoot lefty, and other videos right handed. I know you are a left hand shooter but how do you shoot rifles from both sides. Impressive!
Occasionally I have the opportunity to shoot full-autos, and my advice for first-time full-auto shooters is if you think you're leaning into the gun hard enough, you surely aren't.
@@2wheeleddemon999 no, MAC's test is about how long it can go without cleaning. He doesn't throw it in the lake, burry it in dirt, run it over with a truck, shoot it with a shotgun, throw it out of a helicopter etc like he did with the Daniel Defense
