    To those envious or think he is lucky like i saw a few comments say... he ran super bad in many spots just like most people... but where he makes up for it is making value in spots most would never think of... this episode alone i was shocked at a few of his folds and also the sick value shoves he was making that to me i would always check back.. and you gotta have bankroll management to handle the variance ... and he doesnt think of results when he plays.. only making the best choices at any given moment.. and doesnt allow bad beats to affect his play... and he plays a $50 buyin the same as a $25,500...there are so many obvious things i see that make it clear why he is so much luck aka success and skill.. just gotta focus and pay attention to this amazing free content.. the answers are there.. oh and i cant even fathom the amount of hours this dude puts in... The way someone carelessly dismisses key components of ones success or achievements has a huge impact on there own propensity to learn or understand literally anything in life. The more and more we stand by and re-dismiss others for there inability to grasp or understand only continues the growth of this problem.
      thank you for understanding that a strong majority of humans will never grasp empathy or ability to perceive someone else’s point of view.
      Myself I recognize so many aspects in anything I observe as I have done with you and many others - I see so many mental strengths in people and weaknesses and insecurities etc etc - it can be exhausting and depressing and inspirational and motivational and all the colors of the happy and sad rainbows of life.
      Myself I like the relatability I feel with those I admire. If I’m the dismissive troll watching this I’m wondering how could I not see that you to were repetitively getting frustrating results and having to rebuy multiple times and investing more buyins to continue fighting- but nooooooo I prolly skipped all that or was distracted by the 20 things I was doing and saw the end where you won x amount of dollars and that’s my Q to solicit negativity as quickly as possible.
      I have followed twitch since inception and before that Jason Somerville (such an amazing person to evaluate and learn from on life and poker and what it took to share his life exposing vulnerabilities that were surely gonna be hated on etc) streaming since inception. I also streamed for several months in 2015 and never got big enough to have an abundance of the critic army. I actually would love to advocate more for people such as yourself and help these people who believe the clear ignorance they speak. Nothing is more of a pet peave to me than someone who dismisses or in this case takes time to write a sentence generalizing a conclusion or basis to the results as - he is just lucky and it’s all rigged or whatever. I mean to me it is very clear when someone speaks in this way or hateful In anyway it’s jealous rage - there own pain is so deep and there inability to understand what it truly takes to be successful at anything in life or exceptionally talented and skilled to your mastery of understanding is literally not recognizable to there mental capacity.
      I truly feel that when you see some comments like this there has to be a pamphlet or something that could be offered electronically that would at least potentially impact in a positive way or in any case plant a seed in them that despite how you treated me I am still going to help you if you would allow me to send you this.
      I actually find it quite dismissive on our own parts to not see the need to engage with those customers / viewers/ neighbors / classmates / co workers / family members / local crack heads and drunks anyone displaying unbecoming behavior towards themselves or others in an irrational way. Those are all people who have lost the ability to see beyond there darkness and I truly believe a strong majority of these people need a different response to there hateful actions or wreckless and careless choices of review. There is hope :)
      I challenge y’all to change your reactions in these situations the same way I know it’s a value shove on a 4 liner possible flush board with 2nd set. We have to discover ranges in behavior the same way we do in poker.
      It’s all relative - don’t take it personal always think from another’s perspective and we only have the power to offer help or advice - we cannot control the responses or appreciation many desire for good deeds - the right thing is to comfort those with facts and love without judgment for there weaknesses..
      At least that’s my opinion based on my own experiences and study on Noetic Reflections

      I respect and value your post here very much. But there comes a point where stakes are so low that games are 100 percent rigged. I could imagine higher stakes being legit but imagine always getting it in whether on preflop flop and turn w 55 to 93 percent equity and getting demolished by whatever 2 outer neccessary on the river. Its safe to say some people are really getting fucked over if someone amalyzed my hand history they would probably see the same exact one magic 612 had

    I have a question, when you think about going all in for value, but decide to bet smaller. Why do you fold when they shove? One hand you had two pair, and one top pair top kicker. They would call you anyways if they have a better hand when you shoved, and when you bet smaller they get a chance to bluff you when you don’t go all in, and fold to an all in. Im a bit of a calling station so my reasoning might be wrong, but would love to hear your thoughts :)

    • @RaiseYourEdge
      @RaiseYourEdge  3 роки тому +2

      @@kcts007 What do you mean doesn't make sense? It makes perfect sense. He can't call, since he would be getting 1 and a half buy-in (probably less than a payjump) from the bounties while risking entire tournament life while being 1st-2nd in chips. Also good play by Sammartino to close him out ICM wise, Ben can only call here like JJ+, AKs. The risk premium here is too great to go in mostly flipping or slightly ahead.

    • @1OutsRUs
      @1OutsRUs 3 роки тому +1

      To preface this comment, I'm pretty ignorant with a lot of not super obvious ICM spots, relatively new to bounties, and (according to Holdem Manager) have a tendency to butcher spots with AKo more than any other hand. Why is this a fold? I'm not trying to debate this, I assume I'm wrong to think it's a call I'm trying to figure out how bad I'm mucking this spot up. I'd get the fold if you don't cover Sammartino as well because Velveit has the clearly smallest bounty but I thought covering both that made this a call. The immediate ladder looked like it was $2,260, bounties combined were $5,437.50. Also I thought getting heads up in bounties was super important, the plus side of potentially ending up 3 handed with 368.5k out of the 550k in play seems worth the risk(to me). Even if the short stack lives you have around 270k and the short stack is now 2nd with a little less than 99k. In this spot given this line of thinking I would have not be overjoyed about the idea but I would have called off no regrets. How big of a mistake is this?

    Hypothetically speaking, what do you think the software would have imagined the odds of you shoving those 4s into the blinds against jack 7 and ace 9. Even if the jack 7 doesnt call u still get nailed by the river. Does your position or stack size have anything to do with that play? And lastly could any other player have gotten out of that situation based on their theory/ personality. All im saying is poker. Has turned from a game of legitimate luck to a game of coin flip rationality. Whatever side your on when are you truly ever ahead if a match up of cards is pre determined.

      Curtis my brother - #wecandobetter man. This is an example of someone who is playing a single hand with the idea that he will face the same scenario again many many times and no single hand really has a perfect line or action to take - in these cases he made the choices he did - there are so many variables when you play on the level he is - one major component to consider my friend Curtis - if you were playing a game of hide and seek best out of 100 games marathon - if you hide in the same spot over and over again - your odds of being found are much greater obviously right - but if you change your hiding spots and the routes you take and think about what your seeker is thinking about what your thinking and you constantly consider his perception this time and the next time and on time 99 and any future hide and seek games you play - bencb is playing the poker version of changing his actions and hand selection and the way he plays predicable big hands that you would lose your composure so easily - one major factor for Ben is he’s accepted that it’s gonna be ugly sometimes - sometimes his actions will have a result that in a 1 hand simulation look absolutely horrible - would get all the critics talking for months and maybe all time - but because he is considering dynamics and his perception of the other players and there histories together vary and so many factors go into his navigation on any given hand that truly there is no decision that he didn’t show his hand before the hand started that you couldn’t find some justification for in the grand scheme of things ...
      one major thing I’ve done on a personal level just like with rock Climbing ... I no longer play poker regularly I accepted that it was simply to time consuming to play on the level I felt was required - it required far to much study and disciplines in areas I had trouble with. The beautiful thing is even though it’s a game we all can play - is accepting that some people have put in the time and effort to think on an extremely different level to be more profitable. It may not be something you could ever attain or like in my case even want to - but I think it’s important simply to admire and respect the Talent and be thankful he shares it so openly - we literally get to see the mind to hand to mouse to screen and he’s even talking many spots out - but I can only assume his subconscious is so deeply rooted with things that he does that sometimes even he has to take a second to reflect on. That’s what it takes - it’s a sacrifice and discipline that’s just not something a lot of people would even want to attain considering the sacrifices required ...
      I respect the movie / documentary Free Solo Starring Alex Honnold who attempts to conquer the first free solo climb of famed El Capitan's 900-metre vertical rock face that’s a perfect breakdown where if we had limited information and just saw a random guy on the day of his attempt climbing up the wall without any prior knowledge or understanding we would just dismiss the dude as insane - having a death wish ... might even assume he’s on drugs or some sort of intensified upper causing him to do this - but no instead we got a glimpse into the multi year process of so many different factors that are all very important to reducing long term risk /recognizing anything that will affect the success - the sacrifice one has to take to get on that intense level is simply just not something everyone would want to attain - it takes quite a bit of determination - I think you should be passionate - you should feel some sort of satisfaction not just for results but prolly more for the facts you made the necessary choices and followed the disciplines you know to be necessary to compete at some of these higher levels of play and buyin levels ... I find it absolutely fascinating to watch someone operate at these levels because even though it’s attainable by anyone on some level per say - the real edges one discovers are found in the areas of the subconscious that even Ben or raise your edge would find difficult to analyze and put out in content - some edges are formed only from experience and insane focus and training ...
      I recognized an injury during my poker career just like Eddie Hall when he had to drop out of the competition while holding the lead - sometimes we have to take a step back and realize the effects our actions have on not just us but others. Honestly I cut a lot of corners in my early years of poker - I definitely put in the hours it would take but I didn’t research anything I just played on pure instinct - which was fun because I didn’t know any better ... then I learned and learned more and more over many many years and despite my little voice inside realizing I’m not anywhere close to as good as these guys - I just tried to force my way through and it caused me to make irrational choices , I went against the little grain of wood I had - I broke my own already weak protocols for my own games. I would get tired of the beating and go do something irrational like put my whole bankroll on one single high variance plo table ... these were things I knew to be flawed and I was aware but not willing to make the sacrifice to be exceptional, and I would fall back in from time to time and try again and the best thing I ever did was in 2017 I quit completely - I took like 14-15 months off without playing a single hand but I did still watch and observe others playing .. I learned a lot about poker when I focused on 100% learning and visualizing others playing. I started to reflect and see the toll it had on my family and things like visiting my old high school buddies who weren’t involved in poker ..I saw that I had missed a lot of things I couldn’t even find balance for because poker requires so much discipline if you want to compete at the levels these guys are..... so to ever say anything about someone’s choices in a session without considering the insane discipline required - yea that’s my rant to speak on why we can do better even with the sort of friendly sort of trolley sort of engaging post ... like because it was so irrational to the undereducated mind like a 3rd grader who finally grasped some basic math skills and writing - walking down the high school hallway or picking up something from another classroom and being like what is all this insanity it gives me a headache just looking at it - that 3rd grader simply just isn’t there yet so how could you ever relate to 12th grade advance mathematics... it’s not possible just like it’s not possible for most of us to understand why Ben does the things he does - there are so many celebrities we idolize and wish we could be and have all there fame and fortune- but all that comes with such insane sacrifices - some that we could never understand and yet we dismiss there humanity because we envy the luxuries they may have or things they can do ... without seeing the pain there in because they literally can’t go anywhere without being attacked by paparazzi or attacked by trolls on UA-cam - all I’m saying is this dude puts out free content and it’s like a golden ticket into Willy Wonkas - Charlie was the only one who had empathy and thought about things a bit different - #wecandobetter to and not just as trolls on UA-cam or troll bashers - like myself I travel a thin line of sarcasms sometimes with haters that I have to realize and consider how I’m being perceived .. it’s like this - if you want to do something like help people or help a troll think a little differently ...... then do it but do it with a bit of thought and care ..

      You ever consider it’s because a lot of this video was towards the end of let’s say a 10-12 hour day or longer - they are at the end of an insane grind with the series on all major sites.. he’s talking non stop offering amazing content and the only thing you thought to say was this ?
      You can do better @ra_poker ... I can tell you were a little concerned but this post is like seeing Kevin Hart at the Aria rushing up to him and only saying can I get a picture with you and immediately rolling out .... watch the Kevin Hart interview on Joe Rogan podcast ... it might help you think differently when conversing with people of influence or celebrity standing in any public space ... #wecandobetter
