A tiny masterpiece about obsession and loneliness. Extremely well done in a very compressed storyline. A wonderfully acted sociopath also. It's up to you to decide who is incorrigible.
A very interesting film. I've known people who can't seem to steer clear of trouble and the law. I've known a few that just got away with whatever it was they did, somehow managing to not get caught. There is a side to humanity that doesn't, and may never conform to what's considered normal, or lawful. Society has tried many ways to "correct" such people with limited success. Sometimes the roles we play in life can get blurred when we encounter certain other people. We sometimes lose our grasp on what's real and what is dreams. "Corrections" is a film that makes for much thought.
Yeah, I figured it out too but it was so well done I couldn't stop watching. A combination of great film and editing techniques, awesome actors, and an original (to me) concept made it very fun!
4:55 He wants her to get a treatment called "Personality Reconditioning" then warns her that one of the side effects is that it will permanently change her personality....ummm..... well no shit... One of the side effects is what the procedure is meant to do to the patient???.... "You are going in for a surgery, to remove your gang green foot, but unfortunately one of the main side effects to the surgery is loss of that foot."
Thought this was an awesome short when I originally viewed it - still has that edge. A well done piece. Reminds me of reading a well written short story!
Bravo! A look at "who dreams the dreamer" that hooked me right away. _Very_ well done. [edit] Read the message from the filmmaker in the description. Worth it.
What a remarkable content in a brief sci-fi film. I'm thankful for this well directed and excellently performed acting in this brief film. The social science issues are evocative in many ways. My study has been behavioral science and information theory related to machine learning technologies and, for me, this sci-fi presents a possible future exponentially improbable. And the existential questions in this movie are something I've no answer for, but based on my study, it would almost never happen in this way.
I've literally been trying to watch this all day. (Work, ugh, amiright??? 😅) and each snippet I watched, I loved. And then I watched it in its totality. And I loved it. It was really well done, Sci fi effects were great, acting was phenomenal, really well put together. Great job everyone who made this! Would love to see more from you all!
While watching this great and interesting film... I'm remembering Sarah's character in real life...her name is Maggie...well, that's what we called her. We had a thing going on... Great works. !!
I'm truly impressed with the casting and their acting here - along with the cinematography, directing, editing, and the light touch with all the necessary sci-fi effects - and, tying it all together, a story that compels you to keep watching, despite having the feeling that you have a correct hunch about where it's going. Now that's quality. 👍 Bravo.
Excellent production. I remember seeing this years ago, but that's OK, this is definitely one of the best productions DUST has presented. As for this scenario actually becoming possible somewhere in the not too distant future . . . well . . .
Great stuff! It dawned on me at minute 12 or 13. I like how all of Dust´s films are so cinema-like. And no background story, always straight to the point, you don´t need foreplay. Ten secons to dive in is enough. No hobbyist crap (which I did back in the early nineties), just pure and professionally created stuff. What do these films cost? Who sponsors?!
I like the acting. The plot of a sudden love for an incorrigible criminal seemed quite interesting to me. You really can't tell your heart. However, the cinematography could have been better.😅
I had to use two 9in speakers with 500 watts at 75% to even attempt to listen to this terrible audio whisper mix. I didn't go any higher to make sure you didn't have a loud section that would damage my speakers. These low mixes are why young people think they need subtitles for everything. This is ridiculous.
I think that's a "you" problem. I have auditory processing deficits, and although the mix was a little low for me, I still understood everything perfectly. Perhaps you should get a comprehensive hearing examination.
This would not be a good system. This throws away the best power that we humans have: learning from experience. These repeated simulations just show who the subject currently is. If the subject doesn't keep anything from a previous existence, they will keep being the same. The best education is still punishment/reward. In which form, only experience will tell.
If you get locked up for a restraining order then 99% of the pollution would be going through some simulator. That is not a big offense. You probably get locked up if you take a red light while driving. In the simulator, you keep taking it so you are screwed and be in a simulator forever, or get a new personality
well I considered this ending but I thought it might be better if he inserted a simulation inside a simulation allowing her to be released early just to see how she would respond. Maybe he was the only key to reforming her. Seemingly. But in reality he was the one in the simulation all along but he still thinks it is her and he can't understand why he inherited her nature post, what he thought, was her release.
If you think obsession is "love", you need as much mental help as the main character does. Buddy, the guy was a *STALKER.* That's why he was in for breaking the restraining order.
He's Another Murder, Waiting To Happen, And I Haven't Even Finished This Video Yet . . . Wow, I Was Wrong, And It Was A Complete Reversal Of Characters . . .
I mean the idea that one could actually cure someone with this way is ridiculous, you'd have more chance with the Ludovico technique, but apart from that entertaining.
Wow! Is the future bleak? Can the future be this bleak? When will the retraining stop? Societal failure. When society places you in an altered state of mind. Is this reality or is this a dream? Who decides what? Is this all there is? Oh, am I thankful that Jesus Christ is my Savior even though I am a sinner. My sin penalty has been paid. In this simulation... Can the situation/ simulation ever be truly satisfied. Are these scenarios computer-driven out of the mind of an AI systems array? Thought-provoking to say the least. + Durasaxon + ✝️
An extremely predictable story with an obvious outcome. I knew precisely what the ending would be the moment he saw Alice rather than his gf. Do better in future, please.

This was actually quite good. About halfway through, I started thinking that he was actually the one in prison.

Sorry. One thing I learned a long time ago is to NEVER read the comments below a short film before you watch it.🤷🏻♂️
I love the feeling here of floating in a dream state.
Top Class .... thought provoking.

how did I not see that ending coming
I liked that. I didn't see the end coming. Very good!
Quite the plot twist at the end. Excellent video. Well scripted and kudos to the actors.
BRILLIANT... illustrates The Female Psychopath perfectly
"I'm gonna go get the papers, get the papers."
"then there was Jimmy Two Times, because he said everything twice"
Excellent! The 'dream within a dream' was cliché, but everything else was so well done. A very convincing world.
Cliche? That's like saying "it's a good song but the chord it's written in is kinda played out".
Very, very nicely done. Kudos to the entire team!
This is the greatest. You guys got it! Amazing.
One of the best! What a gem.
That's fantastic and much better than a 120 minutes long thriller movie!
DUST never disappoints. Well done!
From the start I knew he was going to be screwed over.

Wow, brilliant one, I wasn't expecting that.
This was early Black Mirror quality stuff
At the end he could have said to her "You can get me out". I really liked this short film.
Cortázar all the way. Continuidad de los parques. Noche boca arriba. With just a hint of Burroughs. Nice.

This is reminiscent of Minority Report.
Excellent presentation and production very believable dystopian future....very scary 😮❤ well done @DUST 😊
I need to stop reading the comment section on this videos. Thanks for the spoilers.
Very good short 👌! It reminds me that, sinning does not make me a sinner. I sin because I am a sinner!😇👿

Definitely enjoyed this one! Would love to see more of this type.
Not too shabby. Better than most dusts.
This is awesome!Thank you
From ‘no bail’ to this. Amazing.
Great short! Great acting.
The actors are great, but the sociopath was brilliant scary.
the problem is that this video like many others had already been broadcast. You can't pass off old videos as new

I hadn't considered that dreams need not be inclusive of memory, but could be something completely separate, unique or exclusive unto themselves.

The wasn't his girlfriend. It was a simulated date. There's a video on the desk after he rips off the ear bud to tm end the scenario.
Now this why I subscribed this what I'm talking bout Dust.. Wasn't a fan of the last video because I don't do zesty but I rocks with this💯💯
