From the album Comin’ From Where I’m From, released 2003.
My dad had no idea I was going to put his Stevie Wonder bit in the video! Haha, hope you guys enjoyed this one - Kai
You're gonna have to do "Jadakiss ft Anthony Hamilton - WHY", now you've brought him into the mix 👌🏼
Too cute!!!!
ua-cam.com/video/VzV9QExGFQs/v-deo.html
He’s so fantastic!!! It was great seeing another side of him. Great voice.
Loved seeing him in his own world! So pure 😂🤍
Dolly Parton’s song was “Jolene” …love both tracks!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 hollered
😂
Yep it's Jolene
I liked Miley Cyrus’ version of Jolene too
😂😂😂
Yo the kid is killing it with the selections!!! Like, who Mississippi uncle you been hanging around to know all this soul music?! 😭😭 I got 2 plates for both of y'all at the cookout!! 👌🏾👌🏾
Omg too funny but so true
I love this kid. Wish he was 10 yr older lol
@@gemini8620 aye aye cut that out 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
😂🤣
You HAVE to play a song for your Dad called "Love" by Musiq Soulchild (Neo Soul). A very very beautiful song of him talking to Love. And Musiq's range in this song is unbelievable!!
Yessssss
I was going to say,HalfCrazy.
@@travisvance3595 shoot! That one too! Lol I agree!
I second and third this!
Y’all tryna make this man cry
Anthony Hamilton's voice really embodies the "Blues" in R & B. You don't get that as much since the late 50s in R&B, he sounds old and contemporary all at once.
100 % .
Man's voice is a VIBE .
Exactly! 🙌
He fills me with 70s SOUL
Excactly. He fits all my moods
The kick drum is like the clock ticking as he’s waiting on Charlene to “…come on home…”🤎
Sorry I meant highhat!😂
Wow I love that!!! Good catch lol
Never noticed that until now. ❤
I think that’s a snare actually
Should review some Maxwell the king of Neosoul. His music and voice is majestic. His cover of “This Woman’s Work” is beautiful. “Fortunate”, “Lifetime”, “Whenever Wherever Whatever” are good songs just to name a few. “Ascension” is another one gives me an old school feel that maybe dad will like especially the instruments used in that song.
I definitely love Lifetime so very much!
Crazy how i was going to name Maxwell, but not only that u mentioned all my favorite songs too, if i could gice u two thumbs up I would 😂
Yes He has a beautiful voice!!
Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite, In my top 3 neo soul albums
One of My favs ! And the video for it is really cool and interesting
This song was all over the radio after my Aunt Charlene passed. It was almost a decade before i could play this without crying. Now i smile bc it feels like her saying hello❤️
Aww man RIP Charlene 😢 My brother passed away when I was much younger and the first song I heard afterwards was Free Falling by Tom Petty. Those songs stay with you when they are accompanied by deep sorrow.
MANY HUGS to you... 💖🙏💖🙏
So sweet.
I have an Aunt Charlene that this song reminds me of too. RIP to your Aunt ♥️
U are a beautiful amazing woman I wish u the best & may your Aunt Charlene Rest In Peace ❤❤❤
India Arie - Ready For Love is a must! The lyrics are incredible, her vocals are unbelievable and the instrumentation is haunting yet beautiful.
I get chills every time I hear that one❤️
I love that song.
I love that song!
That's one of my jams
Anything India Arie
Your dad singing in the beginning...PRICELESS!!!
Clearly he loves some Stevie Wonder! 😂
Definitely did not see this one coming. I love this kid creativity.
Right? ❤️
Yeah his picks are pretty impressive tbh
He knows good music! I rarely get reaction channels where they react to almost all my favorite music.
This that BBQ chillin wit the fam type music
He’s extremely in touch with the culture.
Anthony Hamilton sings like an Angel 👼🏿
Yesssss
Please do a reaction to Anthony Hamilton Point of it all. The harmonies gives me chills everytime. I think your dad would love it!
Cry is a very emotional song too.
This whole Album is Incredible!!! I played the CD in my whip until it started to skip!!!
Such a good song!
Or I Can't Let Go.
That was my wedding song. Would love to see a reaction to that.
Woke up this morning
Found a letter that she wrote
She said she's tired that I'm always on the road
Too hard to swallow, being alone
She needs someone at night that she can hold 🥰🥰🥰🥰
God's honest truth. I was scrolling through the comments as the video was playing and literally as Anthony Hamilton began singing I began reading yours LITERALLY in sync 😂
One of his most raw songs to date
@@JGspeakss absolutely!
“I’m a Mess” which immediately follows “Charlene” on this album. Please, you and dad give it a listen. So good.
This the one for real
Yes! Please!
Big facts!
That song will have you in a mess!!😢😢😢 I listened to that after a breakup…Lord have mercy 👏🏽😭
I’m a mess is my favorite on the album!
I would love to see a review of “Anniversary” by Tony! Toni! Tonè!
They dominated 90s RnB and I think your dad would love the instrumentation. Plus the lead singer Raphael Sadiq is still active behind the scenes in the tv and music industry today.
You ain't lying ...Ain't we need the extended version too,lol
OMG Yesssssss!!! Best suggestion!
Agreed!
Absolutely! This song still gets played often
Good One! Hoping you both will listen!
Dad fully understood this song and the vibe it gives. 👍 pops
This album was a classic filled with emotion.
Coming From Where I'm From by Anthony Hamilton is worth listening to from beginning to end. Like, Lauryn Hill, it is a timeless classic. Thanks for show casing Anthony Hamilton.
Yes!!!
Definitely that
Yes!!! Will still pull it out and run the whole CD, especially on a road trip or cleaning!
AGREEED!!
Anthony Hamilton's "Pass Me Over" gave me the full blown experience of the Holy Spirit. 😭 I cried so hard listening to it that I legit felt my soul get cleansed! 🤧
This song hits on so many different levels man. This is grown folks music.
Ur dad is going to get chills. This young man's voice with an "old man" sound is truly rich and beautiful!
Anthony Hamilton speaks to my soul..Thank you for Listening!
It would be 🔥 if you guys switched roles one time, have pops introduce you to soul music from the 70s or 80s and you decipher 😂 I remember he referenced Roberta flack one time and I was like ok the old man might know some things lol
Yes, most definitely
🤣💯
I was just thinking that, we should let Pops show us some of his favorite tracks!
Yea pops def know some thangs. He might get the cookout invite 🤣🤣🤣🤣✌🏾
YES!! 👍👍👍
Ur dad is the coolest dad EVER! Very down to earth, energetic, open minded and willing to learn. Freaking love it! ❤️ 😘
this song always reminds me of where I want to be by Donell Jones. doesn't have the same tonality but thematically it plays to a similar tone. but where Anthony comes from this place of remorse and regret. Donnell plays to the tone of making that partner a priority. even though he's the one choosing to walk away. because he'd rather leave than choose to cheat or neglect said, partner. I'd like to think that it lends itself to the perspective of someone who'd be in Charlene's position. though both songs come to a split in their relationships it's doing so from a different perspective it still finds a middle ground on that music spectrum.
I love Donell Jones 😍
@@AB-in2tj respect. it always kills me when people say they haven't heard of him.
Great selection 👌
I think it would be great if you react to Maxwell’s cover of “This Woman’s Work” as your dad is probably familiar with Kate Bush’s version. I think he would love it!
Wow, I didn’t know that was a cover by Maxwell. His version is the only one I know. Thank you for sharing. I’ll have to check Kate Bush’s version.
Yes! This womans work and Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite album was a classic. Deserves a full album review.
The live one from MTV lol
Sweetback ft Maxwell! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Agreed!
His voice is equally gospel, country and soul. Love him so much!
Your dad just "gets" music. You both do. But that singing in the beginning just tickled me. Keep doing what your doing.
Jolene is Dolly Parton's song. Lil Nas X does a really nice cover of it. I hope you'll introduce your dad to Jill Scott. "He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat)" is probably my favorite song by her and she kills it in live performances.
Definitely her most beautiful song
Agreed!
Yes! the live version is top tier!
I love that song!!
Jill Scott! Yes!
I first heard Anthony Hamilton as a backup singer for Jonny Lang in a song called "Red Light". I absolutely fell in love with his voice. I heard him again backing up D'Angelo (an artist you NEED to introduce your dad to!). It was great that he got his own album deal because his voice is magical and calming
I keep posting comments about them having to listen to “Voodoo”!!! Lol
I still get goosebumps every time I listen to this song, one of my faves of all-time. Anthony Hamilton’s voice is absolutely unbelievable.
When you wanted an R and B hook from someone in the 2000's, you go to Anthony Hamilton (or Nate Dogg, RIP). I always loved his soulfulness and just how amazing of a singer he was.
Also Joe but he was more strictly g unit
I just gasped so hard for air! 😂 I'm so excited!
5:41 always hits so deeply, Anthony Hamilton is still such an under-rated artist
l love how comfortable you both are with each other on camera, the eye contact, the discussions, everything. You can tell this is exactly how your relationship is off camera as well. And love Anthony Hamilton. Was introduced to him at about 7 or 8. He's always been first on the list of who I would want to sing at my wedding.
Love, love love! Glad you reacted to Antho y Hamilton! Neo-soul is my favorite Genre. I think your Dad would appreciate Maxwell, Jil Scott, and India Arie to name a few.
D'Angelo don't forget my baby
& D’Angelo, the king
He'd love Maxwell
I called it R&B Soul but yes you are right it is actually Neo Soul that's the Word for it !
Yeah, such a voice huh? It's rare I hear anything on the radio and am like "what was that???" and have to visit the stations website to check their playlist. Anthony Hamilton's "Cornbread, Fish and Collard Greens" got me like that last :) This one is beautiful too. Dad, your high-note made me smile, thanks for leaving that pure joy in the video :)
I lost my father this year. Just watching you guys I can feel the love. Makes me miss my pops even more
One of the most unique voices in r&b ever, you guys should react to the title track from this record
That is true. But oddly enough he does sound similar to Dino from H-Town. Every time I hear their song Crying Out My Heart To You I can imagine Anthony singing it.
@@jbmilly I don't think I've ever heard that song I'll have to give it a listen
@@jbmilly WOW - he does sound a lot like Dino (RIP) - at same time I can tell them apart.
He started singing in church, then he branched out! Anthony has also done back up for several artist and he’s a writer for soul and gospel.
Your dad is sooo awesome.
I’m a grown man and I just lust my dad about two weeks ago. I had a… Hmmm… Different relationship with my pops I guess. Eventhough I loved him more then he would ever know.
What I’m trying to say is - if I could do anything different right now, I would do, what you are doing right now. I hope you are aware of it - your dad loves you sooo much and you make him so proud.
Keep up the content. You are touching alot of people. ✊☺️💙
Thank you, Simon. Really sorry for your loss. Hope you’re doing ok. (Kai’s dad)
Well said
Saw Anthony in concert with Maxwell and Joe back in March! It was a FANTASTIC show! Maxwell is my favorite male R&B/Neo Soul artist. Anthony's voice is like a bowl of hot buttered grits, I love it. Do some Maxwell next!
We need more of dad singing! 🧡
Hi, dad sounds good☺️, Anthony is a great singer, showing the video to the music helps tells the story😉 too
Exactly !!!
“Coming from where I’m from” by him is also a great listen!
This man’s voice is just UGHHHH. One of modern R&Bs most uniquely textured voices. 💙💙
First I want to say I love this channel, the content is awesome. The relationship you and your father have a phenomenal! I would like to see more neo soul and contemporary R&B reactions and I would like for your dad to get a reaction from you on songs he like.
You go dad!!! Sing that song!!!😁
We’re getting closer to my NEED for them to listen to “Voodoo” by D’Angelo. Anthony Hamilton sang backup on the Voodoo tour!
They need to react the THE WHOLE ALBUM
That wholeeee damn album!!!!!!
He just reacted to Brown Sugar a few days ago so he getting there! 😂
Everybody by Anthony Hamilton almost makes me cry. I love it some much. UK fan.
Musiq soulchild is another great soulful artist.
Love is a great song 🎶
And “Teach Me” ❤️
I was singing along the whole time 🤭 loved it 🥰 even the Stevie Wonder part at the beginning 😄 O! and Dolly Parton song was Jolene
Something special happens when you listen to good music. Something even more special happens when you share it with someone you love....💚🌅
This is one of my favorite songs overall. The lyrics..the instrumentation..the vocals..its flawless. Happy you guys enjoyed it!
Dolly sang Jolene- a great song too. Anthony has some great vocals.
Someone mentioned listening to Maxwell- I second this. In addition to the songs they suggested- do This Woman’s Work.
Your dads interpretation of the song is spot on with the music video.
That whole album is great to me. Since you're on this level, I'll also recommend Lyfe Jennings - Must Be Nice from his 1st album. That album is good for a whole album reaction because of how he tells a story that leads up to the next song to help you feel what he was feeling
I love the interaction between Father and Son. Reminds me of when my sister and I used to have my Dad listen to music we loved and then discuss it with him. Happy Father’s Day, early.🦋🦋🦋
It was Jolene by Dolly Pardon 😊Y’all should have done “Best of Me” and “Point of it All” by Anthony Hamilton.
I actually believe that when he said "Woke up this morning, found a letter that she wrote", those words imply that he was at home after he had just finished traveling and performing on the road. My impression is that Charlene left him in the middle of the night without him knowing until he found her letter the next morning. Please 🙏 give your opinion and understanding of this part of the song. Thanks 👍🏼!!! I really love 💖 and enjoy The Front Room and both of you guys so much!!!🙋🏽🎯💯👏🏼
This was my 1st Anthony Hamilton fav and it's been love ever since. He has so many awesome songs.
You guys really should take a listen to the title track to this album.
I came here to say this. Coming from where I'm from is a classic.
Dad is too cute at the beginning of this video! I love the way he sings!!! ❤❤❤ Such a great spirit & soul. Please cherish your dad while he's still around! It's so great you have all these videos together!
Anthony Hamilton's "I'm a Mess" on the same album. It highlights technique, for me.
Same!!! I love it!
Jill Scott first album.....you will love it
OH SNAP! Ya'll tapping into the R&B bag?!! Let's goooo!
This a CERTIFIED CLASSIC!! Great choice!
I say this anytime anyone reviews this artist:
I've been to a lot of concerts in my 49yr life.
This is the best concert I've ever been to.
ONE man, no filler, a complete artist.
it's literal RnB gospel
He’d be a real treat to see live, I’m sure. Lucky you! - Kai’s dad
He is amazing live!
He and those Hamiltones are some sangin’ fellas 🤌🏾
He’s a great performer
Saw him in concert! His voice tears and heals your soul at the same time!
There is a live version of Anthony and The Hamiltones singing The Point Of It All and the end they blend it into Adore by Prince! It. Is. AWESOME! Anyone reading this who hasn't heard it, should do yourself a favor and check it out!
Will do. Thanks
If you haven't seen his live of him doing Hello, gotta see it. He literally sings the word hello for most of the song and it feels like he snatched my soul!
You better not disappoint me. I'm checking it right now.
@@layzy24 Please let me know your thoughts of it!
Yes!!!
So glad you guys did this song. Such a great song
This is one of my favorites by him.. It came out when I was like 12-14 and I had a friend say she hated the song.. I forever looked at her like she had no soul lol... like what?!?
Yes more Anthony “I’ll wait to Fall in Love” or any song really Anthony is amazing and don’t forget Maxwell.
Yesssss!
I love that y’all are reacting more to neosoul i love this song so much can’t wait to watch !
✨Y’all are both invited to the cookout it’s official mane😭🙏🏽💯✨
Your dad gave me so much joy at 2am with his vocals🥰 the joy and nostalgia In his eyes😊 luv it… Great song selections.
I’ve loved this album since it came out. Instantly fell in love. Just started your video. Can’t wait to see your dads reaction and hear y’all’s discussion.
This song is going to blow him away lol classic song
I really enjoy watching these with you guys.
The way you two interact and the beginning in all of them, the extra conversation is fun. You both so natural on camera. Dad is awesome. And I have said before someone once told me that "doing anything together, is doing something together"...
👊💪👍
Fantastic content and I look forward to hearing more from the team
aw ready for this! this channel omg so glad i found it! every single song is so amazing! i swear you two have the best taste in music!
Anthony Hamilton is still making music his albums are very good you have to sit with them and take in the soulfulness of the them
I love the correlation to "home" being "the road" it's a great take on the meaning of the lyrics. Another great selection! Would love to suggest an artist! Citizen Cope is a blues/soul artist from Memphis Tennessee. I really feel you two will love his song "Sideways" its a smooth trip but Cope has a very interesting voice!
"Sign sealed delivered, I'm urs" every one be in that vibe u were in in on that same part.... Beautiful, and Dogg that
Oh my goodness! The man with the liquid gold voice box! Brilliant choice 👌
This is such a special channel. I love the bond you and your father portray 💛🙏🏽
This song came out when I was 13, and I teared up when I heard it. I'm 32 now, and it still makes me tear up. It actually hits harder now that I'm older. Hamilton's voice is so emotion filled. I chose his song "Pass Me Over" for my grandfather's funeral. I'm not religious, but "Pass Me Over" helped me a lot dealing with my grandfather's death. Personal anecdote aside, y'all are so insightful when y'all discuss the song. Your musical appreciation earned an instant sub from me.
Dad can sing 👏🏾 Awwwww Kai baby it’ll be ok I promise 💔
Thank you for making this channel. What a team 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I'm shocked you chose this, but happy.
You guys should definitely react to Indie Arie’s Ready for Love
OHHHHHH MYYYY GAWWWWD, I LOVE me some Anthony Hamilton! This was one of the very first songs I've heard from him and instantly fell in love with this song Charlene. Love his music. PLEASE REACT TO MAXWELL "FISTFUL OF TEARS"
Coming from where I’m from is a must listen
Omg who made this recommendation??? I am ready!!
Baby I’ll be, sitting here waiting on you to come home again. That’s my shit!
This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. What a great way for Father and Son to bond. Keep it up.
You are so kind. Thanks for watching - Kai’s dad
I LOVE YOUR PODCAST❣THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS TAKING MY MIND OFF OF CRAZY DAYS! YOU HAVE NO IDEA ❤
You gotta do “Best of me” by Anthony Hamilton. Oh your dad will love it! That song is my wedding song whenever I get married 😜😜😜.
This, and "So in Love" with Jill Scott.
I absolutely love both of those songs!
My other favorite of Anthony's is Life Has A Way. Just brilliant. Your dad's "is that shown" as he sang along to Stevie was so funny. Love you guys. Keep the reactions coming. As a black South African, I'm grateful to see this. It kinda shows the side of white people we don't see often (non-racist) and appreciative of black people's talent. I already have Celine Dion (white) as my 1st favorite artist so it's not like I'm pro-black or racist myself. So I love the balance when black people can easily love whites and their craft and vice versa. Refreshing!
Man Anthony Hamilton! Haven’t listened to him in years, but this album and Ain’t Nobody Worrying we’re on repeat constantly for a long long time. Some of my favorite R&B/Soul albums. Have to check out some of his newer stuff. Great reaction as always, cheers!
I really enjoy your indepth reviews and research into the backgrounds on the music you just experienced hearing together!! MUCH LOVE TO BOTH OF YOU !!
