Great intro and breakdown. Short and sweet. Thank you ✌🏽 As designers (broadly-speaking), we're at a major x-section with AI and every bit of info helps to guide the way.
You’re most welcome. Glad you got value from it David. Can’t wait to see a new set of UX standards emerge with this wave of Ai

Great video! How long did it take you to receive Adobe's email to let you in the Beta?
Thanks! Not sure. I was a part of the first wave of creators to get access. Access is now being rolled out to more creators but no idea how long the waitlist is
For what it's worth, I applied for access when it was announced two days ago and got access a day later
@@bilawal Thanks for the reply, hopefully soon
@@c0up Nice, yeah I'm hoping I receive it soon, looks great!
I was looking specifically for a discussion about Adobe Firefly's approach to "ethical AI", so thank you for featuring this topic briefly along with the product demos. I think this topic is broad enough for a follow-up video (though I'm not sure whether there is currently enough known about it).
Here are my 2 outstanding questions:
1. The screenshot about Firefly's data specifies that the model was trained on "Adobe Stock and other diverse image sets". Okay. What other image sets? It seems kind of an obvious dodge if this is all Adobe is going to say about their training data.
2. Did the contributors who licensed their work to Adobe for Adobe Stock know that their work might be used to train an AI art generation model? If not, then it kind of feels like Firefly is the "ethical AI" alternative by pure technicality.
Whatever the answers, I'm happy that there is now another competitor in the AI art space, and that different approaches to this AI art thing are being explored. I'm just curious how much of the "ethical" claim is good faith and how much of it is just marking bs.
Good idea! I’ll put in my creation backlog
How much is it and what subscription is needed?
No pricing announced so far. You need an adobe account to use the beta but don’t need to be a paying customer. I’d guess it’ll be a part of creative cloud with a fixed amount of monthly credits and you can pay for more.
You can no longer make excuses and say AI is just a fade or a gimmick, it's time to jump in the sandbox that Adobe created for us and play!
I’m stoked to have more AI horsepower in the tools I know and love. Hopefully AI also makes Premiere more stable, but that might be asking for too much 😝
@@bilawal Totally! Oh poor premiere, it's like the black sheep of Adobe. I'm barely hanging on with that program. Cheers! ✌️
Adobe Firefly's integration with adobe products is going to be unreal.
feel really confident about creating professional images with ease, I was a big fan of PS until it gets me overwhelmed with all the features and techniques that just a PS pro user could use in a smart way, but now I feel empowered thanks to the AI... such a great product, thanks Adobe!
These new AI technologies absolutely make creation fun again
Can’t wait til I’m accepted in!
Effing finally. An actual ethical AI. Hoping other companies like midjourney and DALL E would follow and not rip-off artist's work WITHOUT consent.
You’re definitely a fresh breath of air in the AI world for creatives. Your Ted talk was awesome! It was the first time I really felt like dipping my toes in this and give it a try! So far I think you’re the only one to follow on this topic! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏽 How long do you think it will take for Firefly to be used in Premiere?
Thanks for the kind words! Adobe is working on firefly video but haven’t shared a release date. Though do check out what folks are doing with photoshop generative fill for set extensions in videos. Really fun stuff helping video creators level up their production quality!
Great video and a really quality breakdown. This is incredibly exciting as a designer and creator and I think firefly looks pretty damn solid
Thanks James! I think the TL;DR truly is the model is good, but the UX is great. This is an awesome experience for creators.
this looks great. still waiting to be let in :( but this is promising
In terms of pure performance - the model is good but the UX is better. Much better. I’d love it if MJ and SD adopted such a UX.
This is the best news ever! Very exciting news. I love A.I as you can ask for unlimited adjustments without having to worry about the designers feelings!
Yes! It certainly automates a lot of drudgery of persistent revisions. I also like that the dataset is ethically sourced.
@@bilawal Much respect to you, Billyfx, for caring about the ethics.🙏
@@bilawal Just got my invite. It's not a finished product at all. Very limited in what it can create.
Tanker ships take time to turn compared to speed boats. Adobe will get there
It is good news that Adobe is taking the ethically source data approach instead of using datasets that where made by scraping the efforts of others without their consent, which was one of main issues I had with other diffusion models.
Yes! Really goes to show you can make good models with rock solid data provenance.
Absolutely agree. I just can't use the generated materials without feeling guilty.
It doesn't compare to Midjourney v5 from a quality standpoint, but the user interface and usability is a thousand times better.
Yep. I’d agree v5 is the best text to image model on the market rn. I legit hope they adopt a similar UX
Yeah since it was trained unethically. But with the direction Adobe is going, I'm really hoping this would change other companies too for the benefit of everyone!
I'm sure Adobe execs are concerned because their expensive software will no longer be needed. Excellent creative is fast becoming something anyone can do, simply by typing.
Yes, Adobe is a tanker and nimbler pirate ships are closing in. It’s a time of disruption across industries and creativity is particularly susceptible
