We looked at Las Terrenasa 15 years ago, Bocas was on the list but after landing in Roatan the search was over. We bought there 7 years ago. My wife and I still have up to 10 years until retirement but when we are ready the house is waiting for us.
Las Terrenas is beautiful but caters to mostly Europeans. A better spot and equally inexpensive is Cabarete on the North Coast which caters to Canadians and Americans. The North Coast doesn’t have the exposure to hurricanes because of the mountains which run through central DR. The beaches on the North Coast are beautiful and plentiful, the restaurants are superb and the International airport is 20 minutes away.
All of them are very tiny and expensive caribbean islands, and extremely tiny places , i love the bigger caribbean islands, they are safer for hurricane and the caribbean is a hurricane region ,give me the caribbean islands with lots of hills, I will not lived on a sand bowl island I want to see hills around me that is what I call paradise.
What a long winded repeatitive intro and doesn't get down to the 5 places the video is about quick enough, I can read faster than the woman talks, boring to listen to all the tourist stuff and get down to why it is budget friendly which non of them are as all islands need to import most things and have poor infrastructure.
Sorry IL but you look like someone having tea in the west wing of the Greenbrier resort who has never been to the Caribbean. I lived in the region and suggest you have staff that live on the ground do a real video. There’s kids that’s don’t collect an executive editor salary doing better videos. Ones that aren’t scripted garbage but real information and video on the ground. I doubt you’ve been to a Junkanoo festival and charcuterie isn’t local culture lol.
With the greatest respect someone haven't been doing their homework in regards to their Geographics two Island countries that is being mentioned every time the subject Caribbean comes up. one is the Bahamas two the Turks and Caicos these Island countries are not I repeat are not in the Caribbean was there geographically located in the Southeastern Atlantic. they do have the Good Fortune of what one may call piggybacking off the Caribbean.

All very surface info, which leads me to think there’s too much unpleasantness to these locations.
I have lived in Puerto Rico and spent tine in the Bahamas. Places i would not want to live if it was my choice. Why rhe impoverish locals
