    this was certainly a very spooky episode, seeing Lila go from looking normal to be turned into a zombie made it even creepier, made the reveal of her being a bad guy even sadder

    Given how most people are more familiar with Hollywood voodoo than the actual religion/culture, I think it's probably fairer to believe that the "Voodoo Chant" was just some nonsense song invented by the locals to give the area more colour and so technically Alex isn't exploiting anyone here. And as for the band breaking up by the time of "Frankencreepy", I can imagine the bad publicity of one of their own members being arrested for treacherous blackmail wouldn't have been good for the band in the long run.

    I’ve honestly never seen this episode either. I’ve got to give it a watch. It’s crazy that Dr.Coffin, No Face Zombie, and this episode all are back to back in the Scooby-Doo Show. The Zombie also is popular that he reprised his role here (ngl the unnamed guy who was the zombie kinda looks like a cross of Zeb and Zeke) and comes back in the Ozark Witch Switch. Truly an iconic actor.

      weird that you mention him looking like zeb & zeke, I too thought he looked familiar, like he was modeled after another villain from scooby doo where are you. I feel like I'm remembering some less important side villain... idk lol

    Mamba Wamba is another one of my all time favorite Scooby Doo villains! Although I must admit that out of everything that happened in the episode the one thing from it that stuck with me was the part where Alex said that Roger and Lila would've made a bundle manufacturing dolls, It makes me want to point out that Alex had a good point Roger and Lila would've made a fortune off of merchandising hell they would've made way more money that way than they would have at selling at stupid song.
    But the only problem with the merchandise idea was that if Lila and Roger were gonna do that they would've had to apply for a merchandising license and those are very difficult to get.

    I have a very vague memory of this episode, but had no idea it went this deep, and d@mn every time you exposed parts of Scooby I’m just left thinking childhood really did give us a really thick layer of innocence to watch this as kids and have no idea, oh and as for Scooby Doo Frankencreepy it just feels weird to me because it just seems off compared to other Scooby Doo movies but I don’t know how to explain it it’s just like a lingering thought stuck in the back of my mind or something.

    I remember this episode when I was really little, though the song Mamba Wamba, I thought was a made up song Lila heard as a bedtime lullaby, I didn't know it was a chant. Also, didn't know it's connection to Papa Benjamin either. Maybe the band breaking up could be because of profiting from the song though that seems to be a stretch. I remember frankencreepy and it was okay not my favorite but would watch again, it was cool to see returning villains again, much more satisfying then return to zombie island and the 13th ghost movie. sorry I am still upset how they retconned both movies but in my opinion 13th ghost was better then return to zombie island. this was interesting and it did creep me out as a kid. I am looking forward to your next video. one villain who gave me the creeps as a kid was the ghost of Jerimiah Pratt, though that is a scooby and scrappy episode, also the headless horseman episode another scooby and scrappy episode. If you could review one of those episodes I would appreciate it. keep up the good work.

    i don't think i'd ever watched this episode before but the short story reminds me a lot of the 1965 anthology movie doctor terror's house of horrors, there's a musician who steals a voodoo chant and despite all the warnings wants to make money off it and dies of fright when the voodoo spirit or god confronts him to take the music sheet back. i love finding out what references they make in scooby doo and so many of them go over my head i never picked up on this one!

    I can't speak for Romani people, but Lila's design in the new movie is definitely appropriation of Romani culture. I think there are other instances of anti-Romani racism (antiziganism) and a lot of anti-Romani stereotypes in the Sccoby doo films/TV shows. Like fortune teller stereotypes, the g word being used (I don't remember for absolute certain if this happened, but I wouldn't be surprised) and the appropriative outfits. Romani traditional clothing is a closed practice and all. I don't know. Maybe you could make a video on that at some point. It just always bothered me.

    • @Scoobytopia
      @Scoobytopia  Рік тому +2

      Yes, I was actually just talking about this earlier today. One of the main villains in the episode a gaggle of galloping ghosts is a fortune teller woman simply referred to using the G slur, even in merchandise of her that recently came out. I think the costume in this movie was partially a call back to that as well. This movie wasn't nearly as bad as that episode with it, but it's still surprising the movie in 2014 fell into it again.
