    Thank you very much for the video and for all your detailed comments.
    What I like about the American skating system is that it has tests with clear requirements. We have none here so I guess every coach teaches in their own way. Spirals are definitely not in my coach's list. 🤣

    Hi! Great test and great commentary! My question is about the fact that (as you briefly mentioned, I think) Angelica did 4 lobes for her FO edges, but 5 for all others. I was under the impression this was not kosher, and I even had to re-train myself to do 5 lobes on both my forward edges when i discovered I comfortably do 5 for the backward ones. Is it okay to do different numbers of lobes as long as they are all consistently sized within each edge exercise? TY!!

    •  6 місяців тому +1

      The standards and expectations say to complete four to six half circles with equal lobes. It does not specifically state that you have to do the exact same number for each edge. However, it is implied by "equal lobes" which could also mean equal in size. Remember, there is subjectivity in judging so its up to the judges' discretion.

    Thank you aimee this is detailed constructive content ! May I ask, waltz8--when you say "push" 2,3...is a half swizzle or a C cut allowed for the
    "pushing " or is what your student is doing...inside push with the free leg only acceptable?

    •  Рік тому +2

      The push is a half swizzle pump, and that is what Angelica did here - it's just quick. I have another video dedicated entirely to the Waltz 8 that you can watch here: ua-cam.com/video/RlgJzeOCKjM/v-deo.html

    • @midgechickma
      @midgechickma Рік тому +1

      @ thanks for clarifying. You mentioned waltz8 forward outside 3turns, judges are looking for the hold of the tail end of a forward outside 3turn--can you do a video on tips detailing how to hold the back inside edge. I tend to drop my foot or "fall in" after I attempt the turn on ball of my feet. (P.S.--thank you for sharing this video I appreciate the part you corrected to bring the free leg closer after half swizzle pump on your student's back edges on a semi circle)

      @ also love the beat counts on waltz8...push 2,3...turn 2,3...push 2,3...step 2,3...I got it in my head very helpful thank you!

      @ is adult pre-priliminary the same (wording)as adult pre-bronze moves in the field test?

    •  Рік тому +1

      @@midgechickma You can't take Pre-Preliminary as an Adult - well, you can - but it will be marked as if you were standard track (under 21). Adult Pre-Bronze is equal to the standard track Pre-Preliminary.

  • @ellenados804
    @ellenados804 Рік тому +1

    On the alternating edges it is 4-6 lobes. If a skater does 5 lobes is it held against them?

    •  Рік тому +2

      On the consecutive edges 4-6 are required. So, no less than 4 and no more than 6. It’s best to try to keep them consistent. So if you do 5 for forward outside, you should try to keep it the same for FI, BO, and BI. Many coaches prefer even numbers but there’s no rule against 5.
