The 1975-76 Indiana University Hoosiers: 'A Team for the Ages'

- College basketball history was made in Bloomington, Indiana, under head coach Bob Knight and players such as Scott May, Quinn Buckner, Kent Benson, and Tom Abernethy.
I was in 8th grade. Watched every game that was on tv with my dad. Born a Hoosier, still watch IU.
The 1975-76 Indiana team was like a machine
Saw them mysrlf
I listen on a small radio in my bedroom to this game. I was ten years old! I looked out my window, and couldn't see hardly any cars on the street that night. I was so excited, and nervous. That's the night I started following sports. The next team I fell for were the Pittsburgh Steelers. Then on to present!!!
The greatest teacher of the college basketball was bk weather want admit it or not he had to be the most loyal to the game I ever seen look bk carried the game for 20 years he's the reason hell even football coaches stole slot of what he after duke beats Kentucky in 92 nobody talks about that finial four matchup one the greatest Hoosier teams of all time look Cheney and Henderson were superstars but watch the tapes they look different in those uniforms pay attention closely and u will clearly see the devotion those kids played with
At 9:39, May and Wilkerson bring the ball down the court without the ball ever touching the floor, and a layup! It's a thing of beauty.
it is now 46 years later and no one has done what the 1976 Hoosiers did....wow
I saw this team play at Minnesota. It was great. Ucla did it four times.
@@hansgordy Ikr. 1963-64, '66-'67, '70-71, '72-'73. Why they ain't getting the props tho?... Weird how folks act like it ain't been done before. I want to say it was that college hoops wasn't as popular then and folks were tired of UCLA as they were dominant for 11 seasons straight.
@@KevinThomas-fl5xg ... jealousy
Us old Hoosiers know the 75 team was even better. Wrong injury. Wrong time.
I grew up in this era. “Hysteria” is legit. Kids like myself were called inside for “The Bob Knight Show”. I was a pissed little kid when we lost (should’ve beat) UK. I still consider myself the biggest IU fan to never be fortunate enough to go to IU. Thanks to my mother. #GoBigRed #HoosierNation #UNDEFEATED BABY!!!!
U see this smile from knight. As he aged for some reason he didnt smile like that ever. His record was great in his earlier years. His kids went to class. He was a serious man... dedicated to his trade.
It was odd to see him smile. If you watch the NBC coverage, it looks as if Coach Knight is unhappy and sullen. An undefeated national championship and he looks as if it’s nothing.
Greatest NCAA Basketball Div 1 team EVER, PEROID.
america used to be such a happier place
A hopes that one day will return to it's glory. I believe big change is coming with Woodson, and eventually, Dane Fife.
My gosh the what if? if May didn't get injured in 75. Hoosiers went 63-1 in back-to-back seasons.
The would have been the very best ever with Larry Burd and Jerry Sichting
And that was a deeper roster.
@@stevenyates4535 imagine if Bird would’ve stayed!!!!
And no one talks about it!
They say the 74/75 team was a lot better
Greatest coach ever
Very interesting this is the last season for the the ban on dunking in college and high school. Over the next two years it changed so many things at both levels. Not to mention viewership...
That game had a lot of hype Indiana vs UCLA in St Louis in the season opener
The men were talented. It took a coach to put it together
When Bob Knight unfortunately passes away I hope ESPN finds him black him enough to put first in their line up of topics to cover that day.
It’s getting more difficult by the day to watch ESPN
I remember when they covered sports and the scores of the day, vastly different from today's preaching...I mean coverage.
ESPN has become the Stephen A. Smith network and I have never liked him.
still the best...
Like QUINN BUCKNER said "They STILL tryin' to catch us." LL BMK!
Not trying to be all old school but damn .........good time for ball!!!!!
If Larry Bird would have stayed at IU would he have been on this team?
Yes, Bird would have been a sophomore that year.
@@toddcrickmore7196 That is crazy lmao. Thank you.
@@toddcrickmore7196 Knights fault.
@@Maal7432 A combo of circumstances. Not all on Knight!
@@Maal7432 Many say it was Benson and his bullying/hazing.
The team from the season before was actually better.
Bama is the one who could have stopped this run. Controversial call late. Knight said Bama was their toughest opponent.
Indiana played the way you're supposed to play
And they could have had two in a row!
The needy van perioperaively mug because lotion separately stay besides a large color. various, worthless layer
Larry Bird was waaaaay better than all these IU guys especially Benson the Stiff
Correct
Ken benson was a great college basketball player, ken benson had to play a year without scott may& the gang, i remember purdue 7 foot joe barry carrol& minnasoda mythael thompson& kevin mchale big ten great big men era
Ken benson would have shown larry bird his lefty hook shot
@@Loydstardeli2017 Benson was so good you didnt know his name was KENT not KEN. Bobby Knight got a lot out of that unathletic stiff..
