  • In this video from 1986, go behind the scenes to see how thousands of sparkling lights and electro-syntho-magnetic musical sounds were created and presented to guests each night. From the music to the electronics to the performers, all the incredible details are in this restored VHS.

I saw the MSEP in June 1996 when my mum and i was on a vacation in L.A for a fortnight from the U.K it was MAGICAL.I was 25 and this was my first and only visit to the U.S.A.I cried like a baby as i was so overwhelmed with just how beautifull it all was. This is a very interesting video.

5:18 Fun Fact: Ron Miziker’s jacket was salvaged from a worn out couch he found on the curb driving to Disneyland! LOL 😂

Disney is so amazing. I wish we can appreciate - even with all everything - how charming and inspiring it is and appreciate it for what it is. Escapism and magic and joy.

I miss this parade. I wish they’d roll it back out every few years for us old nostalgic folks

They do. There are at least two versions of the parade, and every few years they move to a different park, usually for some big promotion. If we don’t get a new nighttime parade at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in the next year or so (and we aren’t still under coronavirus restrictions by that time🤞🏼), I would expect it to return for the park’s 50th anniversary.

I’ve seen it at magic kingdom and Disneyland just within the last few years.

Main Street Electrical Parade is my all-time favorite Disney parade. Ever since the early nineties I've enjoyed getting to see it. I saw it one of the last times I went in 2015.

I was lucky enough to see TMSEP last year in Disneyland. They should never retire this fantastic spectacle.

I have been looking for this video for so long. I remember this from the Disney Channel when it aired. We saw MSEP when it came back in 2010. Thank you guys for sharing this!

You would think all of this stuff would be on Disney plus, but nope. Thank goodness for RetroWDW!

That Intro will never leave my mind. I hated it my Dad always wanted to see it. I wanted to get on the rides, Back in the day this was the best time to get on the rides. The Fire Works were nice aswell but you dont need to worry about getting the fast pass. This was the fast pass back in the 1980s and 90s.

I find it funny how they say “Tinker Bell stand by” even though Tink wasn’t played by an actual person until 2009 lol

I *THINK* the driver of the pirate ship controlled her spinning , so maybe they were talking to him on the headset.

and he's the reason we have the Closing announcement & closing fanfare (Don Dorsey didn't see a need for it in the theme park setting, but Bob, who was his boss, talked him into it)

29:46 likely being driven to the maintenance warehouse (across from the prade warehouse) that's the *ONLY* reason i can think of why they'd be leaving the warehouse in broad *DAYLIGHT*

Think it depends on whether you're an East Coast or West Coast person. I thought the Paint the Night parade was amazing technologically, but it just didn't have the simple whimsy of the MSEP and sounded too much like Disney for club kids. As I've never been to Florida and haven't seen Spectromagic, I can't compare. However, I spent many summer nights out on the parade route working GC while my husband, sister-in-law, and other friends danced down the route. I'm loving this seeing so many familiar faces...
