      His thoughtful, knowledgeable, obviously experienced perspective, and his ability to articulate it reminds me of Travis Haley. Really makes you realize who you want to train with.

    • @chiefro7

      Yeah, there is no bs self promotion or “looking cool” its just pure unadulterated skill. Which of course ends up looking sick as hell anyway and needs no promotion because quality speaks for itself. (And people like us promote it for him) lmao Im a huge advocate for getting trained, but this is about as close to an “online shooting class” as it gets! Anytime someone (usually gun shop/range know-it-alls) tells me to “watch Garand thumb” or the other guntubers for “good reviews” etc. I always tell them “when they’re done larping to look good, and want to actually learn something, watch Sage Dynamics”. Now don’t get me wrong I love me some daddy Garand and the others for “fun to watch” content, but thats pretty much the extent of it. Even Grandpa Haley is good, however pales in comparison to Aaron, in my opinion anyway. Sage is knowledge, period.

    I watched this before when it first came out but it was a little above my skill level. I was still working on a lot of basics. Since then I've started doing USPSA matches. I have my basics down much better at this point but was having a hard time getting under .4 splits consistently. I watched his recent videos on cadence and printed off a bunch of copies of the drill. After working it and getting to be able to pass the drill consistently at 3 yards something clicked (within 2 range sessions). I just came back and watched this video today and I cannot describe the difference in understanding I have on cadence now. This helped me so much. Thank you so much for this awesome, free info.

    Accuracy = Consistency
    Precision = Exactness
    Both can coexist.
    Example A, point of aim being directed towards the center of a target and impacts appear to be 5” away from intended zone, but impacts have shown to be within a 1/2 MOA grouping. This situation equates to reputable accuracy.
    Example B, point of aim being directed towards the center of a target and impacts appear to all be within in the intended zone. This situation equates to both accuracy and precision.
    Higher level math would be quite confusing without understanding this. Not sure this video hit the concepts correctly. I might just be tired and delirious right now, but I am not going into more details about it. ✌️

    Awesome video...exactly what I needed for my next couple range trips. Did qual range just fine, then we did a new low light range and I sucked. Went to the range this last week and my cadence/consistency was worse than normal. Always love learning. Can't wait for my next class. One day it will be a Sage class.

    Thank you for this, excellent instruction. I admit I do use combat accuracy as a half joke. Ideally like you said, if we are shooting someone we want to shoot in critical locations as to disable the threat as quickly as possible. However I still think attaining a hit on the body is better than any miss and that is where I tend to say "combat accuracy" with a heavy emphasis that they try to perform better and really hit critical areas (heart, head) but also understand that they are capable of hitting a man sized target quickly at the distances they are training for because some folks need that knowledge that they can do it before they even think about carrying or defending themselves.

  • @viewatyourownrisk
    @viewatyourownrisk 4 роки тому

    A piece of advice/information that I ran into a while back was that for defensive purposes a group like what was shown as "high accuracy low precision" is preferable because more bits of critical structures are interrupted thereby leading to faster incapacitation. If I recall correctly the advice specifically stated that you want to shoot as fast as you can keep all the rounds inside of an 8" paper plate. What are your thoughts on that?

    • @SageDynamics
      @SageDynamics  4 роки тому

      viewatyourownrisk I think 8” is pretty generous.

    • @viewatyourownrisk
      @viewatyourownrisk 4 роки тому

      @@SageDynamics That was my gut reaction as well, seemed reasonable but generous.
      Is there a demonstrable change in the time it takes to reach incapacitation if the rounds applied to the target are stacked on top of each other vs. spread into a group similar to the HA LP group displayed?
      And I have to admit that asking that question it would seem unlikely that there's a shooting stats breakdown that would answer it. And with the need for all other things to be equal, it may simply be impossible to come up with that answer.

    Hey Aaron, I recently equipped my suppressed G17 with a Vortex Viper red dot after watching your review, and I'm finding that the glass completely fogs up from carbon every 2 mags or so. I shoot with both eyes open, so its just a minor annoyance. Have you found this to be the case with your suppressor + optic equipped handguns? Is suppressor blowback on pistols with optics a video-worthy topic to explore? Keep up the great content.
