Yeah man! Thats was my first time using it in that way, and it really flipped the game on its head for me! Looking forward to testing out more ways of live manipulating the blackbox!! And thank you for the kinds words friend!
Ok ……. The BIG Question ……..having seen your earlier comparison between BB & earlier 404 …….& if you were a sampling ‘beginner’ & now had to choose between the 1010 & the new mk2 …… please tell which you would advocate ?? Ps. Love your honest straightforward vids mate ……. You cover it in a very straightforward zero BS way 👍
Ultimately ended up selling off the 404MK2 and keeping the blackbox, this was before the new update the MK2 got that added some more FX and also a step sequencer which IMMEDIATELY gave me some sellers remorse.. The MK2 was awesome to jam on but really the main thing I used it for most was Its usb c functionality and being able to use it a audio interface with my computers.. I tend to make more music on the blackbox, theres something about its workflow that gets making music. *on a side note, im really crossing my fingers for a blackbox update that incorporates some sort of step sequencer or Euclidean rhythm style generation.. that would be a pretty big game changer!
@@THATSTREAL I thought I read in one of your comments the opposite. Didn’t you sell off the BB and keep the MK2? The idea of the Blackbox is growing on me… which is how I found your channel. I’ve owned a Live 2, Octatrack, OP-1 Field and currently still have a Digitakt and SP-404 MK2. The reason is because know matter what, there are things you love and hate about each machine and I’m just trying to find the one I think I can live with. MPC is the most competent as a whole but boring IMO, Octatrack is my favorite and most unique but no Overbridge, dated FX, no polyphony etc… Blackbox is missing a lot for me yet somehow might be the best middle ground with the 3.0 update. Man… to just be able to create the device of your dreams…

And yea, I sold the blackbox a couple of months ago and picked up the 404MK2 again, funnily enough, Ive been looking for second hand blackboxes recently lol, I will say, I made some really cool stuff with theb blackbox (which is making me consider picking it up again) but I think what ultimately led to me selling it (in order to purchase the 404mk2 again) was understanding how I operate creatively as well as functionally. With the blackbox I would use it when I felt compelled to make something.. and it would be turned off the rest of the time which sort made it like a paperweight, and in comes the 404MK2, which I don't make NEARLY as much music on or even as cool as the music I made on the blackbox, BUT I do use ALOT as an audio interface/ Beat playback/ effects unit.. I recently started toying with new Sample chopping style on the 404 which has been interesting, but I still haven't made any music ON it that i'm really excited about, but I do put it to use way more than I did the blackbox, but not for music production but for more as a functional device in between music production with other gear.
Please Make a video about granular synthesis on the blackbox. I’m totally lost..Also just make blackbox tutorials in general. Tutorials for the blackbox are scarce
When it comes the granular engine on the blackbox my approach to it has been mostly experimental.. Im not too experienced in tutorial style videos, but I could definitely do a granular exploration video, sort of noodling around and experimenting with knob positions and such
