Thank you! This is very helpful! I find with the satin glaze you have to shake it up really well or it dries glossy

very interesting as I have been baking glazed pieces having not read the instructions correctly. Only thing is, you can't tell if it would discolour since you used black instead of a pale colour.

Thanks for the check on this, just started glazing recently after sculpting for a few years so seeing how these glazes worked out was very nice 🥰

Nice experiment. It's a pity you chose black, though. I wonder if the glaze discolors when it gets baked. I need to do this exact thing on a light pink sculpture and I'm a bit nervous.

I think others have tried this method with no discoloration!

@@eversonarts8261 I'll let you know here if it discolors after I've tried it myself, in a day or so. Wish me luck!

@@eversonarts8261 Ok, I tried it. It didn't discolor.
I started with a piece in light pink Fimo Soft. It was baked then had two thin coats of the Sculpey satin glaze applied. Both coats were allowed to fully dry. I then baked it again (I'd had to add a correction) at 110 C (230 F) for 30 mins. No discoloration or alteration of the glaze was observed.
So it worked for me but, as always, of course, "your mileage may vary".

How to you stir the glaze in those tiny bottles?

    • @eversonarts8261

I usually just shake. It’s a thin liquid. And if I do stir it, Take the lid off and I use a paint brush.

Hey! I'm a total newb, but I am wanting to make sculpey oven baked mugs this year and would LOVE to put pics of my kids on them. Do you glaze the cup before adding the picture or after? And then is there a certain paper you should use to print the picture on so it can be baked?

I may not be much help. I don’t know a lot about baking on coffee mugs 😬

I might have missed the info but have you tried glaze on raw clay then baking it?

No, I did not try that but I wouldn’t do that personally anyway 🙂
