In all seriousness, I've been wanting to edit this song in ages but could never find anything that fit it well enough to do it justice...and then the second I saw that scene on the beach I started thinking about all the parallels Meredith and Derek's relationship had with Izzie and Denny, especially now that Patrick is back on the show. I really like the way that they're echoing Izzie/Denny in this and as I was making this I came across so many parallels that just made me 🥺🥺🥺 I think Izzie's grief after losing Denny and Meredith's grief when Derek died have been some of the most powerful storylines on the show, and although they both deal with loss so differently, I really liked the idea that they are somehow still tied together, the same way that all the original characters are tied together. Anyway, I hope this makes sense and I hope you like what I tried to portray here. The struggle of losing someone who feels like a part of you, of learning to stand on your own two feet not only without them in your life but with the overwhelming existence of that loss being its own weight to carry. The desperation to see them again, even if it is only a dream or a hallucination or a self-created fantasy to give you courage. (I also LOVE the parallel between Dylan telling Meredith to pretend that he is someone she likes and trusts and Derek shows up in a dream to tell her she can do it all the way back in s2).
In conclusion: Izzie and Denny walked so Meredith and Derek could run
Let me know what you think will happen in the rest of s17 and how it will play out with Patrick's return...do you think it is a dreamlike sequence? Or a hallucination? Do you think Meredith will die?
