    Thank you Stephanie! I am a 64 year old man with skin discolorations, and your tips help me for when I need to wear cover for special occasions! I live in Baltimore City , which is humid in the summer and spring, and really appreciate any tip whatsoever!

    This video is a game changer. Powder with a beauty blender? Sounded crazy to me. First day I tried it I've gotten constant compliments. The blurring of pores and lines is unreal. This 43 yr old can't thank you enough!!

    Just watched this video as I was getting ready for work today. I set my undereyes and entire face with a sponge, just like you showed, and my skin looks flawless, much more perfected than usual. I'm excited to see how it looks at the end of the day. Thank you so much for the great tip! 😊

    It usually takes a lot for me to give a comment on UA-cam, but I tried your recommendation of using the beauty blender damp and pressing the loose powder into the skin until it disappears. I cannot believe how it kept my skin unshiny for hours! I used to put on foundation and dust setting powder all over with a brush. I'd be shiny an hour later as I got into my car for work. With your technique, I am not shiny for hours. I mean hours! I have watched 1000's of tips and tricks and nothing has worked like this. So thank you, thank you, thank you! And it really gives such an airbrushed look as a bonus to the no shine. I thought something was wrong with me and why I did not love the Laura Mercier setting powder when used with a brush - now that I have tried pressing it in with a damp beauty blender, I know why people love it. PS, my son is 5 and loves watching your unboxing videos with your daughter :) When he seem me watch your video with out her, he asks me if that is Brooke's mom!

    Just discovered your channel and love it, subscribed! I have been looking for more uses for my beauty blender besides applying liquid foundation - specifically applying setting powder in an attempt to blur my pores. You gave me some great ideas here, thank you! I appreciate your gentle, easy manner as well, so many UA-camrs are so "in your face" (pun intended 😉) and rather abrasive and loud, but you have a calm, lovely manner that makes your channel such a pleasure to watch.

    Yep, of all the ways to apply powder, this one works best for setting & avoiding a powdery look. I don't like spraying anything directly on my face as it always ends up in my hair & on my shirt, so I will often spritz a sponge with a primer or moisture mist then dab my face with it. That works too for taking down a powdery look & helping set your mu. Either one or both depending on your skin type & the climate you live in. I live in a dry climate now & find my skin looks better with the added boost of a moisture spray when using powders. I don't skip powder because it sets my mu & provides a base for other powder products. The joys of aging skin...

    I'm new to make up so please correct me if I'm wrong. So your use a primer to like make it easier for foundation to stick to your face then you can proceed to use a setting poweder to set everything? If you have glasses is there anyway to keep the glasses from running makeup on nose ? And concealer can be used under the eyes and nose and sometimes other areas if it needs to. But will concealer on nose get messed up there on glasses on nose too? And you can use bronzer to define the cheekbones more and use highlighter on the face as well along side blush too?

    thanks for the tip! i'd do this, but i only have pressed powders. i have 3 that i have to use up before i try this out. i hope it works for me as i'm so oily. do you think it'll still work with pressed powders?

    • @StephanieMarie
      @StephanieMarie  7 років тому +1

      Yes, I've used it with pressed before. Just test a small area with your slightly damp sponge to make sure it doesn't ruin the texture of your powder first! :)

    Do you then apply a finishing powder..? What do you use to touch up. Because even with this method (I also use the damp blender for powder) I get oily. So how do I touch up?

    • @StephanieMarie
      @StephanieMarie  7 років тому +1

      You can use finishing powder if you like. Sometimes I do. That's personal preference. To touch up, I use blotting papers to absorb oil first and whatever touch up powder I have with me when I get oily during the day. Setting may not be able to keep you from getting oily ALL DAY, but it will keep you shine free longer than it would if you just dusted on powder with a brush. My t-zone still gets shine during the day, but later than it would had I simply used a brush for my setting powder. Does that make sense?

I finally got a primer, then I have Estee Lauder liquid foundation, concealer both double wear. I am having MAJOR problems trying to apply any of the makeup without looking cakey. I problem am putting it all on wrong. what are the step to put the make up correctly? Especially around the eyes, puffiness. I am new at putting makeup on period. I turned 60 last September. I live in the hot and humid south as well. I have to use powder. it is not an option. I am dry skinned and i don't have oil issues. But if i don't set with powder (and i use a setting spray in between steps) i will end up with this patchy awful mess at the end of the work day. I don't think anyone expects me to look the same as when i arrived, but i work in a professional environment and i don't want to look messy. One time i didnt use it, i had forgotten we were opening the cancer center again (hurricane Matthew destroyed it ) and there were photographers and all sorts of media. I wanted to hide because i was such a hot mess. But this is the south.

    So I'm genuinely wondering about these beauty sponges and how people keep them clean. So do you wash it out after every use? And since sponges harbor bacteria how do you keep it from causing acne, because Lord knows that would be just my luck if I used one!

    • @StephanieMarie
      @StephanieMarie  7 років тому +1

      I wash mine with Dr Bronners bar soap before each use. You have to wet it anyway so I wash it then. They air dry so they're not encased in something. I've been using sponges for several years and clean them well. If you take care of them and rotate them when they start to look worn, your skin should be fine.

    • @echothecat6748
      @echothecat6748 6 років тому

      There is a hack to clean them. Fill a bowl with clean water enough to fit the water filled sponge, add two drops of conditioning shampoo and microwave for 10 seconds. This releases all of the trapped makeup in the sponges. Let it cool and rinse it clean.

      That's going to depend on the powder you use and your skin type. This works best for you if you need your makeup to stay in place all day or have combo oily skin. It doesn't look cakey or heavy or "powdery" if using the right powder for your specific needs.
