I love Texas, we're blessed, but we take it for granted and need to learn how to replace what we take. We treat our resources like there's an endless supply. Folks think progress is turning a small town into a city, but it's the opposite. If you cut a tree down then replace it with another. Don't just plant what looks good, plant what's also beneficial to wildlife. I never hear anyone speaking about recycling or replanting, or conserving water, and we all should be doing this when we can. It's not that difficult, give us some options.
"Progress came and took its toll..." John Anderson, "Seminole Wind" I wish all the insightful and caring people working hard to create the corridors and engage in other aspects of restoration ecology the best with their efforts. I would like to see significant state funding for these efforts, maybe by taxing the oil industry at a higher rate.
We need to have "Critter Corridors" like they do in Florida. They are large rectangular tunnels under the roads that allow the animals to travel their normal migratory routes without having to cross the roads and get killed by passing cars. In addition, large reserved natural habitats need to be allocated between subdivisions of homes to allow the natural wildlife to flourish., especially around creeks and springs that the animals use for their water source.
Crazy! I just saw a Texas tortoise and felt miserable leaving it there because farmers recently plowed and destroyed a long patch of mesquites to make roads
God bless each and everyone of you and your families with good 👍 health. For every animal who drinks the water one time u get a point in Heaven for good deeds.

Depressing. Born in the lower valley over 70 years ago the change is vivid and disheartening. "Progress". No, not really.
Wonderful video. I hope we have moved in the right direction as advised here in the 10 years since this video was made.

South West Texas is really part of Mexico even the climate and vegetation make you think you are no longer in the USA. Same for New Mexico of course.
