Yes 💪🏻💥 The Tomohawk at number 1 🤙🏻 I had a Purple one and it was My best mate for years 🤘🏻 Loved that Bike, had many a great adventures 👌🏻 Thanks for posting. Nostalgic and I dig it ❤️
I had a red mk2 Tomahawk from when I was about 6 to 11 years old- the coolest thing on the block in my eyes at least for the first few years! Must have done something to me with that tiny front wheel because I’m a fan of classic and modern Moulton bikes these days which also have little wheels and lots of soul 😊❤️
You’ve made my evening, my red Tomahawk was my first proper bike. I remember going down hills with my two feet on the centre panel and giving backies for my friends, despite the warning strip saying not to do so. My second bike was a Blue Grifter and my last bike as a teenager was a Raleigh Sun Solo with the drop down handlebars turned up. Good for wheelies and looking cool or not! 🙂🙂
Hi Mark another great video. I'm too young to remember any of these bikes but it's always interesting to see how many were made. Congratulations on your growing number of subscribers. Looking forward to your next video as always. Very best wishes Sarah 😊
the silver strika that appears in the ebay ad at 7.22 now belongs to me, it is undergoing restoration by me and my 11 year old step son, will be as close to original as possible including pedal back brake only found on the very early strikas and the last set of original supergrip tyres i could find for sale anywhere
I had a blue Tomahawk, great bike. I was gradually outgrowing it and the handlebars were set as high as they'd go. Whilst riding over some rough ground the front tyre suddenly dug in. I went head first over the handlebars and landed on my chin, cutting it open. The bike landed heavily and the extended handlebar tube got bent. We managed to get it straightened before my dad found out. I had a scarred chin for years. Still, happy memories. The yellow Chopper that succeeded it was even more fun.
Only ever had one raleigh tracker as they where pretty rare beasts but all the rest includeing the vektar where quite pretty common (i had a sinclair c5 in about 1988 too what a lame bike /trike lol )thanks for another great trip down memory lane 🤘
I was thinking, "What? My commando didn't have a seat like all those ones!" 2:59 was the model I had. Seems this green camouflage one was the only one with a "normal" seat. Wonderful bike. (As I'm sure all the others also were).
Which one originally came with big chrome rear view mirrors that had to be removed as when kids crashed their bikes the mirrors fell off and too many got impaled on the long metal stalk that supported them, was it the Tomahawk or the Chopper? I remember the safety concern issue but can't remember which bike it was.
Some models of the Chopper did come with wing mirrors, although it depended on the specific model and time of production. Wing mirrors were not standard on all models, they were available as optional accessories or included in certain special editions. I'm not sure which special editions they came with? 😁👍
there wanst much grifter about it, it as basically a burner frame and wheels with different handlebars and a plastic body carrying the electronics, also had an am radio iirc, i remember a local kid had one, there was loads of wildcats about which looked ver similar but were much much cheaper
Does anyone remember the javelin cycle club i bought a chopper off a neibour years ago with full accecories on it wing mirrors badge bar airel with racoon tail extra reflectors on the sissy bar tool pouch on the rear rack speedo, siren and pa system with cb type microphone and a set of javelin cycle club decals on both mudguards and chain guard .
@nakmas73 Thanks, appreciate the feedback 😁. I know what you mean about the Chopper but it was based purely on the available sales data. There were definitely better bikes to ride 😁👍.

Absolutely! Quality design never goes out of fashion 😁👍

I'll look up the Raleigh Sun Solo. It seems like there were hundreds of different designs and names in the 70s and 80s? 😁
the vektar was trying to cash in on the craze for knight rider and streethawk at the time
Absolutely correct. 😁👍
I had an orange Commando in the mid ‘70s, and a black Chopper around ‘80/81. Loved them both 😊
Quite right! 😁👍

That's fantastic! Thanks for sharing with the community. Good luck with the restoration and I hope you enjoyed watching the video 😁 👍
@@davelister7183 we use to call the peddle back brake a skid break ' my mate had one ' & a very thick flat wide tire on the back wheel 😄
@leon-o4m7k Yes, absolutely correct! I learnt that from comments on the previous video 😁👍
@@antiquescentral if my memory serves me well ' you had to jerk the peddels back quickly ' it wasn't a fixed wheel ' but not 100% on that 👍
@@leon-o4m7k coaster brake is the correct term for them, but were usually referred to as pedal backs in the uk as far as i recall
Ah their it is in all it glory. Tommahawk Thanks :)
Indeed it is! Thanks for subscribing 😁👍
Ahhh the commando. I covered many miles on mine.. oh the memories

It's amazing how many different varieties were made! Sometimes I think they were a bit mix and match depending on the mood of the designers ? 😁👍

@davelister7183 wasn't a burner a bmx '
@@leon-o4m7k it was more or less, with adaptions to accomodate the vektar body/ electronics, it certainly wasnt a grifter

I had a Chipper what i bike
Yes, the Chipper is featured in the previous video 😁👍
My first bike, rugged thing!
I’ve added this video to the Raleigh Grifters Owners Club on facebook 👍👍👍👍
That's great, thank you. I hope they enjoy watching it. Did you watch the previous video as well? 😁👍
I did… really good content!! Although I’ll disagree with the no1 being the Chopper. ☺️
