Bryce Harper has the best take...
"If I hit a homer I am going to get excited. I'm not a robot. I expect you to get excited when you strike me out. If you don't want me to get excited strike me out. Once you make eye contact and start calling names, now its personal."

Pitchers and catchers whining..."we get our way 75-80% of the time and we still get our feelings hurt."
Shouldn't swing on 3-0? Throw strikes, the guy at the plate isn't paid to watch you throw, and you have to put something over the plate now.
Celebrating insults the pitcher? He wasn't looking at you.
Intentional beaning? Randy handled it great - ignoring the other team says "they aren't worth the effort" very clearly and he takes his base.
We'll probably hear all about this next season the first time we play them.

The way I've looked at these situations for 40+ years now? Act like a friggin PROFESSIONAL.
    Period.
Ya hit a home run? Act like you've done it before.
    Be mature.
    Ya strike out a batter?
    The same thing applies.
I've noticed the "look at me" athletes in recent years... and it is getting WORSE.
It has made it where I can't stomach watching sports in general.
That... saddens me... and in some ways it angers me too 😡
It's more an issue with society than anything actually.
I miss watching baseball, basketball, football... and even sadder it's seeped in to my hockey in recent years also 😖

No dude... you're right on the money, there. A mlb pitcher throwing heat at someone with the potential to hit him in the head (despite the helmet) is in NO WAY an appropriate response to him getting his feelings hurt.
He sure as hell won't be preventing a guy from celebrating the next time he rips one off the same pitcher. If anything, dude's gonna celebrate just a wee bit more knowing it'll get him on base next at bat and may cost the opposing team their starting pitcher for the game (if he gets tossed).

Thoughtful analysis, and I agree with your final remarks concerning the pitcher/catchers' deliberate actions. What I see as a disheartening trend Is exactly what the pitcher beaned Arozarena for; excessive and at times demeaning celebration. Case & point...two days ago Scherzer threw a high n tight to Rodriquez that actually deflected off the butt end of the bat, the very next pitch Rodriquez put It over the left/center wall. kudoz to Julio for beginning to hit closer to the value the Mariners have contracted him for. But then the kudoz stopped there when Rodriquez began his slow walk and stare down to Scherzer and elaborate bat flip on his way to first base. Many of these kids are turned Into Instant millionaires once they sign. As paid professionals I believe they should be above and beyond respectful of the game, they're opponents, the teams they play for and the fans. If a player makes spectacular play or a clutch hit or HR, at they're level they should have the composure to act as though they've been there before. Arozarena, statistically Is an average player but way above average concerning his actions when was Intentionally hit. That action alone did more to rightfully discredit the pitchers actions than a melodramatic stare down.
There are millions of Little League- High school ball players watching how these pros conduct themselves on the field.
That's all I got, thank you for your take on the events from yesterday's game....I hope we can win the NY series.

I actually do have one other thought...The umpire hunched over and Inches away from the action should have picked up on what was going down. There Is NO way he didn't know what was about to happen cueing off the catchers pre pitch movement. His arms should went up and called time and thrown a warning at the pitcher.
But then we wouldn't be commenting on any of this would we...

There is more to this. Randy stepped out of the box 3 times in a row as the ball was thrown before he hit a cookie after ball 3. Maybe this distracted the pitcher leading to the 3 balls. Maybe Randy had been expecting an inside pitch or a beenball and stepped out. Hard to say. But Randy masterfully strategized that sequence including the beanball that caught him on the elbow pad. If you are winning by 5 runs or more and you hit a tank, bat flip and all that is fine but hurry the trot up a bit. That’s all I’m saying

What made this better is he stepped out mid pitch for the first 3 balls. That was some disrespect. But if you're the pitcher, should've thrown strikes or gotten him out. Would rather every sport allow athletes to celebrate big plays than forced to be robotic. And these players should get them back by playing good instead. Throwing at them is losing twice lmao.

Interesting that you leave the dance that came before the home run out. You had a narrative you wanted to take, but watch the batter step out as the pitcher was delivering the ball 3 times in a row before the hit. Classless batter, despite the taking the HBP in the next at bat... Hope the hitter remembers that he's batting .222, meaning he loses more than 3 out of 4 times, where the the pitchers opponent average is .232, meaning he wins more than 3 out of 4 times.
If you're gonna comment, comment on the full story, not just the story you want to make up.

I'm a Rangers fan. I agree that him getting beaned over hitting a home run is weak and lame. However, (and I'm not sure if you were saying this) I will say that I can think of situations when I would condone the bean. For context, I was never a pitcher. But say if a dude from the other team cleats an infielder's knees or blatantly tries to cheat (like that Astro that hit the 1B's glove a couple years ago), that is worthy imo. Again, not that it warrants any action (like a hbp), but aren't excessive celebrations kinda lame too. Not as weak as getting butthurt over a good play, but still. I guess I just miss the old school professionals.

Why did you leave out the 3 pitches prior that he kept stepping out on

@@gamefacesports6704 bro I don’t know you, but I played in college and overseas along with many guys in the league today. That for sure played a part in why he got hit.

Should have shown the previous pitches. The guy owned the pitcher & the whole at bat. Him getting here shows how butt hurt they were & they lost some respect there.

I believe the hard feelings were more about the whole at bat. If you watch the whole at bat, the 1st 3 pitches he stepped out of the box in the middle of the delivery. 3 straight balls. He was temping them to throw one down the middle. They did and it got nuked. Really he tricked them into giving him a fat pitch. I am guessing that is was the bean ball was for.

The hit batter should go to 2nd base. Unless the batter is hanging over the plate.

Yup this shit has no place in baseball. Randy deserved to celebrate cuz he predicted 3straight outside sliders right before that dinger. Pitcher screwed up already but then he throws a get me over fastball with no runners on …….wtf? Beam ball after is yea …Weak, a great way to say it btw, Weak as weak can be

Seattle team looks like a street gang. 0 % professional. Everyone always butt hurt. The pitcher throws the next one at the batter because it teaches the player to act like a professional and not a little leaguer who got his first home run.
