- This week, courtesy of Scott's ability to break stuff, we're checking out the internals of the new(ish) G&G L85 ETU and comparing it to my classic (Non ETU) G&G L85!

@@EnglishKiwi Did you know there was an army advert and the sa80's had 3d printed by a prop company? It was a recruitment advert!
I've got 4 not including my Springer from when I was a kid and Alice's AFV.
I'm not entirely sure what was printed but I think it was only the new handguard. They may well have been put on Airsoft rifles to make it easier to film.

I love my G&G L85 ETUs - I own three at this point.
My two complaints are the stock shimming which is horrendous and the trigger that is way too light. I'd rather have a more realistic trigger, otherwise it's great

Have anyone found the ideal volume ratio between barrel and the stock cylinder? I'm getting a bucking, nub and barrel upgrade for mine but I'm unsure of which barrel length and diameter I should pick.
Hi, I'm very new to the channel, and indeed quite a noob to airsoft - I bought a couple of guns more than 10 years ago, but have just come back to it after many years. I've always been an SA-80 fan boy since I was a kid (back when there was just the 4.85mm version!) and so if I buy a new gun now it'll be some version of the L85. You seem to be an L85 expert so I'd love some advice!
Which manufacturer / version would you recommend?
It seems you like your G&G very much, but is the ICS or ARES a better choice? I've got one of my guns in bits trying to fix a feed issue, but I'm not really wanting to spend tinkering time, I just want to play it 'out of the box'. My local site runs a 350fps limit.
Imma hijack this comment and reply before kiwi :) Yeah the g&g etu version is probarly the out the box, I've also used it at a cqb site with a 340fps so it's all good on that front too :)

I've actually found there's a video on this site, a conclusions video to a livestream, and kiwi and some other chap who's name I've forgotten day the G&G is the best gun out of the box. 👍
As arcticFrenzy said the g&g etu is my suggestion for out of the box and go. Overall it's a great performer. The only thing that's changed since the which sa80 livestream is ares new A3(ish) release. While it looks impressive and has a good spec sheet, I've hard and witnessed first hand them breaking very quickly!

Any clue if there would be a way to hpa either model of the g&g l85?
Would it be possible to put a an SR-25 gear set in + long piston combo, and correct any potential voluming issues with heavy bb’s?

You could do as the original design used the sr25 cylinder, gearset and piston. Though I've found it easier to just shorten the inner barrel to sort voluming issues and keep the standard piston setup.
Hi dude. Great video glad I've stumbled across this. I've had my L85A2 ETU 2 weeks. Done a complete strip down, disabled blow back. Still yet to put it back together. Should there be a spring between trigger leavers on the side of the gear box please. Also can I have a link to the recommended mosfet as I have a red light on mine and doesn't want to do full auto sometimes 🤔

Hey mate, I've found a boneyard L85 etu. It's either the piston teeth that are worn down or one of the gears, would it be worth buying it to fix or should I find one new?
Hi mate do you know where I’d be able to buy that front rail adapter/grip you have on your l85a2?
Its a real steel Daniel Defence Rail. They're becoming a bit scarce but you can find them on ebay and at some surplus shops in the UK.

hey i have 2 questions i really need awnsers to. does the dd rail have room for a battery, and how do i remove the flash hider?
Yes it does, I can fit a 1300 11.1 vapex stick in mine. You need to knock the cross pin out then the flash hider should slide off. Sometimes the glue it a bit, so a bit of heat can help loosen it :)
@@EnglishKiwi I know this is old, but just to confirm, the barrel is not threaded then? Wanted to mount a tracer unit on mine but can't find documentation; that or the language is mixed.
@@mikesipek9662 nope its not, i got a local machine shop put 11mm ccw thread on it, cause outer barrel isnt 14mm
Bought a used G&G L85 AFV, old version without ETU. I use a 7.4 lipo and it’s fine on auto but shit semi, should I be using a 11.1?
Yeah you need a lipo with more than 25 C ratings. I think the tamiya connectors are causing too much restriction .
Bought 11.1s and yeah it works like a dream, awesome ROF and repetition works again
Good morning, I've seen several videos of you, and I would like some help.
I bought an AFV G&G L85 now and i have magazine compatibility problem, can you tell me which models (apart from the original) fit the L85 G&G without problems?
I thought about PTS, Modify, VFC, but I don't know if they are useful.
any metal style mags should fit and work. Polymer ones are a bit more picky, most tend to need a bit of filing to fit and feed. Have a look at my £5 mag video, I discuss it there.
@@EnglishKiwi Okay, I'm trying to find a polymer charger to use. I saw that you used a PTS MAGAZINE EPM AEG M4 150 ROUNDS right, what adaptations were made? and is the magazine width compatible with the original width of the G&G L95 (approximately 23mm?
Worth noting that the upper half of the gearbox is ALMOST identical to the PSG-1 upper. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m fairly sure they can be exchanged. I’m in London/Surrey if you want to try it
It's has a different way of attaching to the lower. I'm confident it won't fit.
@@Corle0ne yep, from what I can tell they hook together on the L85 whereas the PSG-1 they use pins

Yep the l85 uses a hook at the front and a pin through the rear to hold the assembly together :)
