Steffan Pila Cheap Trick should release this 1983 broadcast at the Rockpalast in Essen, Germany as a 2 CD/ DVD Set. That would be so awesome to the die-hard Cheap Trick fans. Who's with me?
Circulate enough bootlegs and it will certainly put a fire under their butts to get it out there in some official capacity. You didn't hear that from me.
I saw them in '83. It is by far my favorite album of theirs. This album sold pretty well but not much airplay. Radio stations don't know what good music is.
@@Brewzerr I disagree completely. You have to understand that with Todd’s style of production at the time, there would have been no NPP without Todd; his DNA is deeply fused into that record. If it was anything like his work with XTC a few years later, the band likely sent in unused tapes from previous sessions to Todd and he would come up with the running order and change the songs up as he saw fit. Todd essentially assembled the records for the bands he was producing for and Cheap Trick sounds like no exception. Todd’s fingerprint on this particular album is HUGE.
Great performance on a difficult song to sing. Rick's guitar playing is outstanding especially with his backing vocals. Fantastic...Bun E proves why he is so underrated!!!!
I've loved this song for 27 years and finally get to see it done live! Incredible, just simply incredible! They are just the best...for real!!! Love you guys!
Bun E Carlos is a goddamn force of nature. One of the all time greats. It just isn't the same without him. I feel bad for Daxx. He'll never fill those shoes.
Daxx is a fantastic human being, however, his playing the songs a step slower live, makes the band sound like they are weaving all over the road. If the band is happy with sounding like that, I guess that's all that matters. They have to know it, just don't care.
Yeah I was never too crazy about Todd Rundgren's heavy-handed production. Todd works better with certain bands more than others, for example XTC... but he made Cheap Trick sound more like Utopia than Cheap Trick. Damn shame too, since the songwriting on NPP is some of their best. If only they had gotten Jack Douglas to produce NPP, it would probably be regarded today as one of their best albums, right up there with the first album and Heaven Tonight.

I bought this album when it came out on cassette. I played it so much in my car that it broke and I went right out and bought another cassette.
They sound amazing!!!! Love CT!!!!

Bun E is killing!!! NPP is one of their best albums. IMHO!!!
It is a great album for the songwriting. Too bad they chose Todd Rundgren as producer. Should have gotten Jack Douglas, or at least Tom Werman

@@kgerych2112 Hell yeah Todd isGod
Crazy how the overall energy level of everyone in the band is higher than just about any show from that time period. This show kills!!!!
I think it's because of the addition of a new bass player. He wrote some great songs also.
John's a great bass player but he didn't write any songs

Cheap Trick were a 'killer band' in '83. This concert in particular should have been made into a double LP/VHS product back-in-the-day.

probably one of the best sounding live "Ain't That a Shame"'s I have ever heard.

@@therealfronzillaMaybe because they are in their 70's not because of Daxx. All these band that came out of the 70's have taken it down a notch.
this is how the entire NPP album should've been produced. Have the band give all the songs a live arrangement, then let them rip.
Bun E Carlos. Holy fck!
Robin Zander is the hottest guy I have ever seen, with the best singing voice too.
At seventy-one, he is still hot.
I love Robin's look and get up
Baba O'Bun E... imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. A great band Rock n all over the world.
One of the fortunate ones to meet Todd the God in an elevator no I didn’t have to get on my knees!
Why is this not in a set list??? This song is sooooo cool!!!
agreed . great album!!!!
I love this song so much1
Like it a lot
Cheap Trick > The Who. This song (and about 200 more) proves it.
Way better. No comparison
3:53 Ain't That a Shame begins!
So much better than the Studio version

Great job with Brad Carlson
@kevinocooldaddy I sure hear a little Baba O'Riley in there a little bit. Still, this is a great song.

Bun E!!!! All day!!!! Bun E!!!!
Bun E is Keith Moon
Ned Anidroc yes he is!!
Bun E is better than Moon. I know, blasphemy right? That's ok. I'll forever stand by that opinion
Who's on bass?
Jon Brant
bun e looks so old
Yet he bashes those skins with 10X more fury than most young drummers do
