32:49 I can't get enough of this jingle. It's an example of how radio can create this image of being more than just something you listen to- the image of a radio station as a friend or companion is perfectly painted here. It's a wistful, almost sad jingle and one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard in radio imaging.
Same, Newark. I liked Klavan and Finch, and William B. Williams, later Tedd Brown. Of course I switched around to the soul and top 40 stations too, but these are happy memories of my parents, and the music was good, Sinatra, Big Bands, popular standards. I remember Union and Route 22 well, the Flagship, Channel Lumber, the Mr Peanut statue, Lido Diner, some may have been Springfield, had family all over those towns.
Oh you're very welcome! I enjoy doing these. You're right, unfortunately we won't see this era in radio and entertainment again. But I'm glad we HAD it when we did.
Love it. Thank you! My parents listened to WNEW. I really enjoyed the jingles and music of WNEW. I ended up listening to WNEW more than the top 40 stations of the 60’s and 70’s Thank you again. God Bless!
Sometimes I'll put something up and wonder if it really matters, but then comments like yours and the others who have shared their memories make my day! I'm so happy that you are enjoying hearing these again! These jingles are so well done and as beautiful as the music that was played on the station. If I had lived in the area, I would have loved this station too. Thank you for sharing your wonderful memories!
THIS IS AMAZING! This jingle was in the recesses of my brain since I was a child. I went out looking for it today and what do I find? Every single jingle that ever mingled in the memory of this kid. Thanks for the time warp!
Well that makes me even more happy I went ahead and shared these. I didn't grow up with the station but I remember hearing these years ago when I started collecting jingles and I thought they were so good. Thanks for sharing your memories - so happy I could help bring back good ones for you!
And thanks to UA-cam, you can enjoy them again! But seriously, these are some fantastic jingles. I didn't grow up hearing these, but I definitely appreciate their beauty.
I used to have a lot of WNEW jingles on my channel as well as an air check of the final few minutes of WNEW but someone bought the online rights to the jingles and was filing copyright claims on everything WNEW. I ended up with two copyright strikes and would have lost my channel if I hadn't been paying attention and deleted everything before UA-cam had a chance to hit me with a third strike. One of the strikes was for the complete song of the Milkman's Matinee by Les Brown which I'm sure they didn't own the copyrights on but I wasn't going to fight it. I used to go to bed to the Milkman's Matinee every night and loved when the news was ending and the first trumpet notes of the intro would start just after midnight. Thanks for posting these. I recognize a few of them from my collection but these are far better quality as most of mine were recorded off air.
I'm sorry to hear about the turmoil you went through! I would have loved hearing that aircheck and the jingles. I've come to realize, it's really like Russian Roulette as far as getting hit with copyright claims- I once had a Paul Petersen song that was up for several years, then out of the blue, it got hit with the copyright claim. Sometimes, you'll find something you got pegged for can get by on someone else's channel. I'm not sure how that works, but I'm glad you told me about your situation so that if I suddenly find this has been pulled down, I won't be surprised.
Metromedia knew how to do radio. They had the greatest stations-WNEW-AM and FM, WIP-AM/WMMR-FM in Philadelphia, WHK/WMMS in Cleveland, WBCM in Baltimore, and KMET-FM in LA
Thanks for that beautiful Sandey and Green production for wNEW. As far as I can remember, they ran for a long time. I can only guess they must have been done in the early 60s but ran until 72 when another great package from Hue Heller ran. They went to PAMS, then Sandey and Green in 74 and 75 Ben Freedman did some work for them towards the end of their time on the air. I thought JAM did some jingles as well. Thanks again, my friend.
Well thank you for your wonderful comment and especially filling in the blanks of who did these jingles. I have them on a CD, but there is no information on who produced them. Interesting that these ran all the way into the early 70s'. But from the music that I can determine the station played (light Pop/MOR?) these sound just perfect. I have another CD's worth of WNEW jingles that I have yet to play, and at some point, I hope to get those up as well. Thanks again for the remarks and for enjoying these beautiful jingles.
Nice things happen to peeeeplllle.... Whoo listen to raadeeo eleven three oh... In the Metropolitan Area.. Double Youuuu, Ennn Eee Double Youuu... Neww Yorrrk!
I used to listen to this station quite a bit but I don1t remember any of these tunes (they are quite forgettable) I do remember a tune that went "eleven thirty eleven thirty eleven thirty on your dial keep listening all the while to WNEW the station that is serving you, New York and New Jersey too twenty four hours a day that`s true WNEW.
*Sigh* Before my time. I was hoping for the 1970s jingles. My grandparents listened to WNEW when i was a kid, and those era jingles take me back to happy times at their house.
You're probably familiar with Ellis Feaster's channel, but if you're not, you may want to check there. He has a few WNEW airchecks from the 70s and maybe you'll hear a few jingles. Or Ellis may even have a collection of 70s WNEW jingles. youtube.com/@EllisFeaster
Now that's the kind of thing I always enjoy reading. Amazing how things like this can bring on good feelings. That cut you cite really is beautiful. Sounds like a warm autumn day.
Sounds close and maybe it its. You have a really good ear. I checked out any and all the articles I could find on Sande & Greene and only found a couple of passing remarks about using members of the Johnny Mann Singers on a jingle package here and there, but nothing that really said ONLY the Johnny Mann Singers were used for all productions. Maybe someone will come on with a definitive answer.
It could very well be, it's hard to determine with the voice being part of the group vocals. By contrast, he recorded some jingles for PAMS/WMGM and you can hear him loud and clear there. Here's the link for a few of those jingles: ua-cam.com/video/qSi3JbXvkDY/v-deo.htmlsi=0D6f7GQR2QxePDaD
Are you interested in a televised broadcast or are you specifically looking for a WNEW broadcast? Hopefully someone who grew up listening to WNEW will see your question. In the meantime, have you checked with Ellis Feaster? He's really knowledgeable about radio broadcasts and airchecks.

Exellent!
I grew up in NY listening to WNEW 1130 AM. One of the all time great radio stations!
Growing up in 60’s/70’s Union New Jersey my mom’s kitchen radio was always tuned to WNEW 1130am
To Mad Daddy Pete Myers?

I used to listen to these jingles when I lived in London...missed NYC so much over those long three years.
Thanks so much for posting!
@@rafaeldla You're welcome! So glad you can enjoy these again - they really are fantastic jingles.

@@Tomovox_PAMS_Radio_JIngles archiving the past is so important for so many reasons; I can’t count. Great work.

Always good to get comments from people knowledgeable about these stations - and who appreciate the history.
The greatest late night early morning radio show ever the Milk Mans Matinee on WNEW, The Purple Grotto, that was radio.

Amazing how things stick out in your mind. My Aunt used to play this all the time. Memories.
From what I can understand, this must have been a station with a very mellow, relaxing playlist of music. I know the jingles give that feeling.
Just a little bit longer..... I love it! Greetings Dyo Aussieland
I'm glad you're enjoying this! I thought I'd share something different, other than a PAMS collection.
A kitchen radio staple. You would eat and excuse yourself immediately in order to listen to WABC on the little transistor radio somewhere else.
I had the feeling that WNEW was the grown ups' station. No Rock 'n' Roll here!
Nice things happen to peeeeplllle....

I wonder who performed these jingles? Sounds like the Anita Kerr Quartet

Thanks for poting, really good stuff. Does anyone know what year "Nice Things Happen to People" jingle was played?
Hi Frank, you're very welcome! Hopefully some of the really knowledgeable jingle fans will see your question and will be able to give you your answer.
WIP in Philadelphia used that same jingle
Early 70s is when I remember it. My favorite. Damn......I'm old.
Do I hear Thurl Ravenscroft?? Around the 24 minute markings..
