very glad to see seasoned metalheads enjoy parkway's last albums. They are passing the torch to the next generations. Their new sound is a blend of classic heavy metal, thrash, power, epic and prog... and I m loving it! imo it's the evolution of our music, it's how modern metal should sound like
If people took half of the time they spent b*tching about this album, and watched the documentary on it instead, they'd understand why PWD took the approach and sound on this album that they did. They are getting bored of the metalcore feel and wanted to variate away, to a degree, from their normal sound. It's called maturing as a band.
Will there ever be a day when a band releases a new album and people don't bash it for 'not being the same?' What's the point in releasing an album if it's going to sound exactly the same as previous ones? Either way, this is fucking awesome and I love it when it's typical Parkway Drive or not.
+JasonSevenfold09 dude totally agree ive been going thru the comments on their new songs everybody is whining about it not sounding like them or not the same yet if they made the same stuff people would complain saying that its shit because its the same, theres no pleasing people!
I know, some people don't even know what they want but like to complain about it anyway. The same happened with the latest A7X album because people were saying it's not typical Avenged Sevenfold when their previous three albums sounded sort of the same.
+JasonSevenfold09 People come to expect a certain sound from a band. If they step too far away from that sound, you get complaints. This is...clearly...a step far away from the typical PWD sound. The problem is people need to just listen to an album for what it is and not compare it to everything they did before it. Then you either like it or you don't.
+JasonSevenfold09 Totally agree. Honestly, the fact that artists are able to grow and change is a good thing, in my opinion. I wouldn't believe any artist that said they were fulfilled and proud of their work after producing the same exact sound album after album. I feel like doing that pushes bands to burn out. Anyway, as a fan, I'm just grateful when any band I love has the confidence and desire to produce something just as ground-breaking or unique as their last masterpiece.
Definitely! It's always nice to have a bit of variation in a band's sound yet they maintain the tone they are known for. I completely agree. For musicians, it must be accomplishing to be able to produce a change to their music rather than stick with the same formula.
I see people saying this is not what they used to sound like; for me this is the first time I'm hearing them and I love it! The riff is melodic and metal enough in my opinion. Definitely will be picking up this album.
+Raika Kuroi I started listening to them when I stumbled upon "Vice Grip" on UA-cam by accident. I've listened to some of their old stuff and it's okay, but this is more of my style of metal. Love every song. Can't wait until I have every song on iTunes.
+Raika Kuroi this is just worlds different from KWAS & that's an album i grew up on.. i don't necessarily think this is bad, just different. giving the full album a listen right now.
+Raika Kuroi This album definitely is very different from what they've done. But that comes with any band. I strongly suggest giving their old stuff a listen. They have come a long way and have depth on all levels (musically and lyrically). If you become familiar with their older albums you will understand just how different this album is. It's very tame, yet still holds the same power, in my opinion.
+jkteddy77 They have great music on all albums, and I agree they do something no other band has or can!! I love old PWD and new. The evolution and growth and lyricism is amazing on all albums.
been listening to these guys since their first demo. so glad they have gotten to where they are at, parkway always deserved it. this album is pure gold
+Andy Printannier finally some people I can relate to. I saw them live one the IRE tour and I'll tell you the songs from this album brings tears to your eyes! They fucking rock these songs live
I love how lyrically deep these guys are. Powerful shit in every song. Plus just fucking shredding masterpieces to go with the lyrics. Exactly why these guys are my fav band of all time
Loving the new sound of PWD, experimenting and evolving as a band, still containing their signature sound. Winston vocals are defiantly a highlight and possible the best in metal core hands down!! So stoked for this new record.
Since when did any parkway album sound the same? That's the beauty of this band, NONE of their albums are the same. Anyone crying about "sounding the same" is a fanboy of one single album and has absolutely no concept if what parkway is doing. Great album from a band that never disappoints
+LiquidSkieS x Yeah, too right. People should've gotten the hint that Atlas was almost like their last attempt at the whole metalcore style. It felt as though they pushed it as far as it could go, if you know what I mean. If I were parkway though, I wouldn't want to go for anything beyond IRE's style for their next album. I'd just continue using ideas and sounds and just be more creative with what they had on IRE and maybe add a few sounds from a previous album like Deep Blue. And by that I don't mean breakdowns galore lol, just more guitars parts and maybe make a few faster songs here and there. Songs that i'm talking about in regards to "guitar parts' are: The River (the intro as well as the solo for that song as an example), Five Months (the solo part), Deliver Me (the build up in the guitars and the solo) e.c.t-those type of ideas.
Just like metallica did... With all of their albums. they're all great, yet people shit on metallica because they change their sound. All these so called "fans" bitch about bands sounding different, but that's how bands mature and get better. By changing their sound. Real fans follow bands in their sound changes, not shit on them for it being different and not the same
Andrew Surowiec Well to be fair, some fans do have a point if they make a complaint about songs like Devil's Calling. I'm all for them making IRE and that's fine but Devil's Calling is way beyond Parkway in my view.
BounceTo TheBeat devils calling was great. I don't see why people shit on it. It's different. It's them, as a band, maturing, and making themselves better. A true fan would actually like it. It sounds good. And that's fact. Cuz unlike most people, I'm a true fan
Andrew Surowiec "A true fan would actually like it"...just because some of their fans don't like it doesn't mean they aren't true fans... what kind of comment is that? lol Bands can make an album or a song that fans choose not to like because of the way it sounds. For me, Devil's Calling was that particular song. It played things way to safely and it had me concerned for what's to come on their next record. Like I said said, I'm all for another record like IRE but Devil's Calling doesn't hold that Parkway element that I love about their music.
So if they changed to playing polka rap you would still be all in for it? Its not a betrayal to stop liking a bands music. You can like the guys just the same, and still be thankful for earlier favourites, but you are NEVER forced to like something just because "they" made it. That said: holy shit I enjoy this album.
if your a real fan of a band and they change their style yeah even if you don't necessarily like the change support them for getting out and doing something different
People need to appreciate music for what it is and the effort that artists put into it. If I wanted to show someone the best example of today's metal, this album would be the first thing I'd show them. You guys opening with this song on this year's tour seriously made me want to rip my nuts off it was so fucking amazing. Keep it up.
I know people usually don't like when bands change their sound, but I believe that it's necessary for them to do because it allows them to evolve and stay up to date. I actually just found Parkway Drive due to this album. I love their sound and I think it's important in order to gain new followers. I loveeeee this album!
I have listened to everything by these guys and followed them through their career. i understand their style of music has changed, sometimes simpler then their their old stuff but that doesnt mean it isnt great. people need to learn to appreciate change.... the only thing that should matter is whether or not the product sounds dope cominf out of the speaker. and these guys are nailing it.
I love this album. The mix of different musical changes is utterly amazing. I don't see much artists in this genre do that. This album is a masterpiece. Cant wait till i can buy it :D
amazing. Parkway Drive is the one of best my groups. Thanks for Winston McCall for wonderful lyrics of album ,,IRE''. Phrase ,,Black the sun. Hide us from monsters we' have become'' helps me to realize that anger is the biggest emptiness of human, because it destroys perception of pure minds of each other existing in world. BEST WISHES FOR WINSTON MCCALL!!!!
I just came from listening to After the Burial's new album Dig Deep. It's a masterpiece and for some reason it made me want to listen to this album again. I liked it before but now I love it for some reason.
The leaders of Australia's booming metal revolution have matured and evolved since emerging as decent exponents of the Unearth brand of fiddly riffs and breakdown-heavy metalcore. The sheer scale of change on Ire initially suggests the Byron Bay five[iece have bitten off more than they can chew. Vice Grip raised worrries with its glam rock guitars and cheesy choruses, it leads to a more imperative sound but lacks punch. Alarm bells may well ring, but these are rare weak moments on an album where the band's energy and sheer belligerence shine through whatever direction they take. Destroyer builds to a simple but infectious twin melody before erupting into a classic metal lead and precision riffs. Dying To Believe explodes out of the blocks with the most savage riff the band have unleashed before mutating as percussive blows rain down in a flurry of combinations. Crushed stars off with ominous Gregorian chants before its bass-heavy rumble and eerie mood that evoke both the groove and dark undertones of Korn, delivering a haunting wall of sound that elevates the ominous track to sound utterly colossal. Despite the odd sidestep and inconsistency that stops it just shy of being a classic, Ire is an album that should be applauded for not only being a gallant effort that has seen Parkway transcend the limits metalcore, but also for producing moments of spectacle, which at their best result in the best songs of the band's career.
This IS a different song than what they usually do, I've been listening since their first studio album. However, I think they are musical geniuses and can do no wrong haha. This is a lot more melodic than some of their older stuff, but that's definitely not a bad thing! I like both sides of PWD. Some of their songs off their first album "Killing with a smile" have some melodic parts in them, but then are more brutal metal licks. Their second (And my personaly favorite) "Horizons" Refined the heavy riffs, and if a more metal-core sounding album, still with some melodic parts like in the album titled song Horizons. "Deep blue" was MUCH different, having a combo of both, yet playing around with different sounds. The guitar sounds a lot different in some songs, the tempo is much slower on some songs, where as in previous albums most songs are faster. "Deep blue" was much more of a story telling album, almost setting a mood. Still, they seem to be refining their sound. "Atlas" was probably the most different too date in my opinion, adding that same story telling element as "Deep blue" but this time adding more aggression in the lyrics, more about things that burden the band personally. A lot of the songs off "Atlas" are very atmospheric as well. My point is this, with every album came changes, and with this album there are definite differences, but not for the worse. A band can't be expected to do the SAME stuff, have the SAME sound for 5 albums! The band gets bored playing the same stuff over and over again, and they evolve as song writers and musicians, and their music displays that. I'm a fan of ALL of PWD's music, and I have loved seeing their growth and evolution through their music. Everyone needs to calm down, rock out to the awesome music, and embrace change.
+sherman614 Just to say.. I used to hate this album.. (in the past few weeks).. but now I jam it everyday.. This album really brings back a fresh sound in metalcore and it grows on me every time I listened to it.. P/S: I agree with everything you said and I'm sure PWD need more (old)fans like you..
so am I the only one who listens to this and actually wants to start doing something. I mean, yeah in to politics but I want to gather those who see the message and problem we can't ignore anymore. greed is and awful thing that can consume anyone. we know that so why can't we do anything about it..
Absolutely amazing. Well done Parkway, your still the best in the entire genre. KWAS to IRE, still the reigning kings. 3:08 is just.... pure epic power.
This album completely blew my mind. Without a doubt this is the best album put out this year, any fucking genre. The lyrical content is absolutely genius (as always with PWD), but I love how political they've gone on this album.
Does anybody else love it when you spend the first time listening to a song wondering when you'll understand the title of said song- like that moment you understand why the title is what it is? Just hearing the word "ire" in this song, made my skin tingle. It's a weird feeling, but I feel that bands really enunciate moments like those to purposely wreak haptic feedback in your heart. Maybe it's just me. But I love it.
Don't worry guys, even though the keyboard warriors complain about songs not being the same, when you go to a concert everyone is screaming the lyrics until they go mute. If you want to meet the real fans, go to the concerts. They sound EXACTLY like their album, it's insane.
Fan/Listener since Killing With A Smile here. Bollocks to the lot of you who are saying negative shit about this stuff. This shit goes in hard! Enjoying the fuck outta this album already sat here dining like a king on my pot noodle. \o/
Entire album is epic. Still regularly stop by and listen to this. Didn't think that I would like the entire thing, expected 3-4 good songs. I can say I am not disappointed at all.
+FaresRock Games Nah, this album isn't all that great! BMTH's new album isn't all that great either, they're both disappointments. But hey, they're still better than the shit SWS and FIR put out this year, total crap! STYG also sucked (but that's a band outside this label lol).
They said they were changing their sound. Every album prior to this was always meant to be heavier and faster, this one they said they wanted to focus on different aspects. i dig it.
Haha saw them when they opened for ADTR, first heard of them when Killing with a Smile came out, fantastic guys. People were going crazy! One bloody lip to a great band!
Favorite band for years. Absolutely loved every emotion they invoked from Don't Close Your Eyes to Atlas...And then this fucking happened. It feels like a bad break up
Never honestly been able to connect with their music until some of these newer ones, always respected them as musicians and dug some of their songs but I'm really liking these new songs and the direction they're going in. Plus, this shit is bumpy as fuck, great for hype. New gym album.
This band has stayed true to their message.. If their music sounds a little more "mainstream" than usual it's probably because they are trying to get that message across to more people.
+thefaulkness You don't need to be a contractually signed band to try and expand your audience. This album is arguably Nu Metal. Its basically entry-level, poser metal. Its not Parkway Drive. Tickets make you money. Expand your audience and you sell more tickets, merch, CD's, etc. Independent bands can sell out.
+Sanberk Atalay I can't say that I'm surprised that you don't understand sarcasm. You're literally one of those people who speaks up and offers nothing of substance to say. When you went to start intelligently discussing instead of being a moron who can't string a couple sentences together, come back and try again.
This album is OK, not what I expected from them but it is OK. It haven't grown in me like the other albums, and don't come here and say that I am not a true fan, I like Parkway Drive because of their songs and their sound not just because their name is Parkway Drive. PS: I like that they kind of got rid of the breakdowns :)
Damn son. I have been listening PWD music since some months, and every new song I find it's a masterpiece. You guys have earned a new fan. Keep working and I hope you come soon to Colombia :D
Sounds similar, but isn't the exact same. Maybe from reading your comment I was expecting it to be identical. This bit isn't aimed at you but I think parkway have done a great job on this album it's fresh and enjoyable. Definitely worth buying.
+Markus M. Many bands do that, they use the same kinda notes and think, fuck it, it sounds sick, let's change it up for another song :) nothing wrong with it, still a sick riff!
This is different than previous releases but they've come a long way since Killing With A Smile and it is evident they've got a lot more talent structuring their songs. This is a lot more creative and diverse than previous albums.
+UWS CSS Yeah I'm just hoping that their record label doesn't have any influence on them changing their sound....otherwise, if that's the case...then there's trouble! :(
Love it! Way to change shit up! I was worried the band was gonna be like Lamb of God and have 4 albums sound like the same 1 album! Glad to hear you change somethings! Can't wait to see ya on tour!
+Adam Ham Yup, it is. Think of it, as if you were a painter. You paint a picture at the beginning of your career, and you think that that's the style you want to go for. You do it for couple of years, and still you like it, but then you'll eventually come to a point, where you're not even painting, or sketching something, as a work you'll sell for great money, but for fun, and from it, there awakes some much bigger, and brighter you ever painted, in the same style, for over years and years. It IS different, of course, and you'll notice, that there are three kinds of people, who like it, who don't, and all the dudes, who don't really give a flying fuck on it. So this is what I think of this new album. For me, it's a great new start. I'm a HUGE fan of Parkway, technically I grew up on all those albums they released so far, but for me, this isn't like, "Whoa, stop for a moment, this isn't them, this is a garbage!", I'm very happy seeing them change, grow up, and going forward with their music, and not standing still, or worse, moving backwards. For me, this is like, they're doing what they like, and that is what always made me to stay with them. Think back, on KWAS, or Don't Close Your Eyes. Those were something done by very little ammount of musicians, a whole new style of the scene. This is the same. I very often search for bands in metalcore genre, and probably every kind of music done by instruments, and well, this is something I haven't really heard before. The only thing I could complain about, is that I don't really prefer the sound of the snares. That's it. Personally, I like the painting. But of course, we're different, and I respect, and accept your different oppinion ;)
+FirstPersonSlayer And I get that! I just thought the painting was fine the way it was if I'm using your metaphor correctly. And I'm upset they've changed they way they have.
+Adam Ham I'm curious to what upsets you? I've followed them since day one. I've grown as their music has in the past few years. The more I've grown the more I've understood the concern and lyrics in their albums. If it's not heavy enough for you then I'm sorry, you misunderstand what music is.
just got into this band and I am 53yrs old, u r never too old for metal!!!
Hell yea!! 🤘🖤

Despite the odd sidestep and inconsistency that stops it just shy of being a classic, Ire is an album that should be applauded for not only being a gallant effort that has seen Parkway transcend the limits metalcore, but also for producing moments of spectacle, which at their best result in the best songs of the band's career.
lol @ comparing these guys to those phaggots from Korn
+Metal Hammer Official That's insulting comparing PWD to Korn.
Seriously.
Agreed 100%
killing wasn't their first album. but I agree... they still kill it!
+sherman614 I love how you're like ''calm down everyone'' and ''rock the fuck out to this awesome music'' in the same sentence XD
Greggory Carroll First studio album was what I was referring to, most people don't know about "Don't close your eyes"
I wake up to this every morning. Good way to start off a day
This Band gives so much to their fans . very respect
so am I the only one who listens to this and actually wants to start doing something. I mean, yeah in to politics but I want to gather those who see the message and problem we can't ignore anymore. greed is and awful thing that can consume anyone. we know that so why can't we do anything about it..
I'm with you. And that's what the band wants too. (Winston said it in an interview.) So why sit and wait?
+The Faded Lone Ranger *sighs in relief* well my friend do you live in the usa?
+Joseph Koller Parkway Drive is an Australian band ;)
+Tim G are you the dude who answers green when asked how much they weigh
Yes I do live in USA, in California
You?
These riffs, fantastic.
Amazing album! One of the best albums of the year.
2:06 the double bass pattern! freakin sick! I love PWD!!
Hell yeah I love everything about your song forever legends 🤘♥️💯🎸
Such a powerful album, and it sound great Live too.
3:10 start the best part vocally and instrumentally on the entire album in my opinion! STRONG lyrics....
Fan/Listener since Killing With A Smile here. Bollocks to the lot of you who are saying negative shit about this stuff. This shit goes in hard! Enjoying the fuck outta this album already sat here dining like a king on my pot noodle. \o/
Parkway Drive, you never fail to impress and move me. Bang up job, guys. Can't wait to hear more.
Lovin the guitar work in this album.
Best album yet. Fucking masterpiece
Entire album is epic. Still regularly stop by and listen to this. Didn't think that I would like the entire thing, expected 3-4 good songs. I can say I am not disappointed at all.
Fractures, crushed and vice grip still my favorites at the moment
+Infernis Lesly fractures still has that typical sound i like it so much
Yeah, i love the intro :D
4:05... could be my favourite piece of guitar work on the album. Really short link from melody to chorus, but sounds great.
verdadera musica para mis oídos excelente álbum
The riffs of this song is very powerful, deserve more view and much more view than Vice Grip in my humble opinion. Sound pretty great to my ears.
Seeing them live on November 19th in Pittsburgh, cannot fucking wait been wanting to see them for almost 5 years now!!
It's usually not that color. I'm so impressed by you.
This is not selling out. The screaming is there throughout this album and it well refined.
This is still one of my top albums
Parkway should win allll the rewards this year seriously NOT BMTH ?????
bmth sucks
+FaresRock Games Nah, this album isn't all that great! BMTH's new album isn't all that great either, they're both disappointments. But hey, they're still better than the shit SWS and FIR put out this year, total crap! STYG also sucked (but that's a band outside this label lol).
+havoren but no matter what parkway drive will have their own touch support PWD no matter what they've always been great
FaresRock Games Absolutely! I won't disagree with you there. Parkway Drive is a fantastic band and I still can't wait to see them live.
+FaresRock Games Haha all the hate on BMTH dont you see that you ruin everything...rather throwing hate towards BMTH than meaningless pop twats
New album kicks ass
This is actually pretty good. The lyrics are definitely better in this song than the others I've heard.
My favorite band
Should make a good opener song. cant wait to see them on tour
They said they were changing their sound. Every album prior to this was always meant to be heavier and faster, this one they said they wanted to focus on different aspects. i dig it.
Great band....plain and simple!!!!
Still one of my favourites in 2023..💜🥰
I love the key change for a bit after the second chorus
I agree I love this album well anything parkway drive puts out is hard af !!!!
This song has a very Dragon Ball Z feel to it. I love it!!
Best new workout dosing of the year
Haha saw them when they opened for ADTR, first heard of them when Killing with a Smile came out, fantastic guys. People were going crazy! One bloody lip to a great band!
Favorite band for years. Absolutely loved every emotion they invoked from Don't Close Your Eyes to Atlas...And then this fucking happened. It feels like a bad break up
That sexy riff during the chorus along with the lyrics is do damn good.
great band like always!
Never honestly been able to connect with their music until some of these newer ones, always respected them as musicians and dug some of their songs but I'm really liking these new songs and the direction they're going in. Plus, this shit is bumpy as fuck, great for hype. New gym album.
Seeing these guys in Cincinnati tomorrow, ready to get my face melted off.
This band has stayed true to their message.. If their music sounds a little more "mainstream" than usual it's probably because they are trying to get that message across to more people.
Gonna see these guys Dec 1. So excited!!!!
wow nice song
never heard of parkway until an hour ago, tottaly hooked
So much hype right now.
Its weird how people think that you can sell out while being on an independent alt label
+thefaulkness
You don't need to be a contractually signed band to try and expand your audience. This album is arguably Nu Metal. Its basically entry-level, poser metal. Its not Parkway Drive. Tickets make you money. Expand your audience and you sell more tickets, merch, CD's, etc.
Independent bands can sell out.
+Slazors Fuck Genres
+Sanberk Atalay
Nice argument. Completely destroyed mine. Great job.
+Slazors It's not an argument; good for you for feeling defeated though
+Sanberk Atalay
I can't say that I'm surprised that you don't understand sarcasm.
PS: I like that they kind of got rid of the breakdowns :)
awesome especially the end is nice!
Gonna see them tonight. Happy af
They've never made a bad song, they've never disappointed.
Thank you Parkway Drive you Get are now No age rating also thank you for putting all the names of the albums in orderrrrrrrrrr
Easily their best song
Powerful Intro!
Reminds me of old In Flames
CAnt wait to see them live! uhggg
Damn son. I have been listening PWD music since some months, and every new song I find it's a masterpiece. You guys have earned a new fan. Keep working and I hope you come soon to Colombia :D
I'm looking forward this album
I don't like this song very much at first, but the main riff is haunting me for days now!!
Fuck yeah, this is the way to start an album
why is the main riff at 0:55 the same as the melody lick of vice grip
Sounds similar, but isn't the exact same. Maybe from reading your comment I was expecting it to be identical. This bit isn't aimed at you but I think parkway have done a great job on this album it's fresh and enjoyable. Definitely worth buying.
+joerowland definitely. i am loving it:)
+Markus M. Many bands do that, they use the same kinda notes and think, fuck it, it sounds sick, let's change it up for another song :) nothing wrong with it, still a sick riff!
+Markus M. yeah I noticed that to
This is different than previous releases but they've come a long way since Killing With A Smile and it is evident they've got a lot more talent structuring their songs.
Can't wait to see ya on tour!
can't wait to see them on april 17th!!! it'll be fucking awesome!!!
Are they going to release the full album song by song? lol
+Ana Gálvez Mellado yes they released all songs song by song all at once
Parkway has killed it again
how does this even get a dislike
Because it isn't Parkway Drive.
It still sounds great to my ears and that's what matters to me.
