My grandpa fought in 71 and in 75 when he retired he met Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw along with Gen JFR Jacob as they were war dogs in second world war on Kolkata

My grandfather who was a JCO during 1971 war was often looked down upon by senior army officers due to his rank but Manekshaw personally treated him with high respect just like given to any other commissioned officers, he even said "Saab aap JCO hain, aap is fauj ka backbone hai". A highly decorated Field Marshal but gave respect even to a sipahi! Salute this great man.
