I've travelled that route countless times in the van. Always took the scenic route through the trough if I had time. On a clear day, the veiw from that tower at 3.55 overlooking Morecambe bay is awesome.

When you see the gable-end of a house has been slated like a roof you know you are in a wet place. I'm related to half the people in the graveyard just before that house on the crossroads in Quernmore. There are some really nice roads around there & you could loop back to Ulverston on a Northern route. We had some good rain over here this week, much needed.

@@SIMONB1 I'm waiting for the woodworking supply shop to get some bits in before I try the black pudding, one shop is near the other. I don't know if you had business in Lancaster, but I would have left the M6 at J34 & gone past the Crook o' Lune turning right before Caton onto Quernmore Rd. before climbing up to Jubilee Tower.
I've less & less sympathy with speeding the older I get, I must be a grumpy old man.
Ironically we were going to head out up that way (Lythe Fell Rd)had the weather not been so unsavoury
