I advise you to having a strong fundamentals of maths from preAlgebra, algebra, trigonometry and calculus so that you can learn a bit about classical physics, then basics of electricity, then finally you can tackle electronics (there is a good course on udemy called crash electronics course which is quite extensive more than 100 hours geared for beginners, where you can learn both theory not in depth tho, because you need to read textbooks to have that, but still it would give you the ground to enjoy the circuits that you gonna build throughout the course.

I do not know about electronics. I'm transferring to a university and the degree is electrical/elcectronic engineering. they overlap in similar course.

      In most of the world, electronic, computer and telecommunications engineering is separated from electrical engineering, less so in the United States and in certain parts of Europe. Electrical engineering is just high energies and they intersect in power electronics.
      Differences in both (universal model, not counting the US as I mentioned before):
      - Electrical engineering aims to manipulate energy: generate, distribute, convert energy into useful work (motors, heat, etc.).
      - Electronic Engineering, for its part, aims to manipulate information: obtain, process and transport information in the form of electrical, magnetic, optical or electromagnetic signals.
      What I mean is that if you want to study advanced electronics, in electrical engineering you will not see it thoroughly (just basic notions, not to the degree of an electronic engineer). While in the USA model they see it much more advanced (from what I have observed, there is no electronic engineering as such), which causes me a lot of curiosity.

    I am an electronics engineer of 30 years & I have one bit of advice for the young:...DON'T do it because engineering sucks & especially electronics. The pay is shrinking faster than an ice cube in a furnace, companies will NOT hire you & prefer independent contractors instead now, which means no pension, no benefits, no vacation, no sick, no security & as normal crap pay. If you must be an engineer study civil engineering instead...at least that can't be outsourced to Asia.

      isn't there a huge demand for engineers? why especially electronics?

    • @davidbrewer7937
      @davidbrewer7937 5 років тому +3

      @@apocalypticbean Demand & decent pay re different things. I spent 4 years qualifying & have to constantly take new courses at my own expense as technology evolves just to stay somewhat current. REAL electronics has been replaced by cheap & in my view often inferior programmable devices. A lot of the work now involves programming embedded micro devices like Arduino, PIC or ATMEL. This is geek stuff...not REAL engineering. Consequently, there are a glut of spotty kids out there who know programming but not good hardware design & REAL electronics. Companies are increasingly willing to accept products which are good enough but disposable which are mostly designed by programmers. Anything intended for mass market is simply crap. This puts huge downward pressure on pay & good jobs where engineers are simply required to be programmers first & hardware as an afterthought along with sweeping the bogs out each day. If you really must go into engineering do civil engineering....They can't outsource that to China or India....

      @@truedarklander I honestly wish you all the luck in the world. It is not that I don't like electronics, far from it I really LOVE it but I have watched as the jobs get progressively worse & the pay getting even crappier. Most of the leading edge high tech is now elsewhere in the world & more of it is programming some micro device or other, not real physical hardware. Add to this the requirement to almost constantly & very expensively be updating your qualifications & skills as the technology changes just to stay current & I think you might look back one day & remember my advice. At least Civil engineering can't be out sourced to hongo-chongo land because a large bridge or tunnel must be built where it is used.
