    Nice presentation. It is possible to switch from electronics to computer engineering and vice versa. Some of the areas that the two meet are designing FPGAs, ASICs, and VLSIs. In general the border between electrical engineering and computer engineering is blurry. In old school, computer engineering is just a branch or a discipline of electrical engineering. Think of electrical engineering as the root of all disciplines such as electronics, communications, power, signal processing, controls, computer engineering, and a relatively new field called cyber-physical systems. I often tend to go with the old school classifications.
    I liked your chart that showed the transition from hardware to software. Of course electrical engineering is much wider than that, but does play a role (among other roles) in transitioning from hardware to software -as far as computers are concerned.

    Question for you. Someone I know wanted to do Computer Engineering but that option is no longer available at the University of his choice. They do have Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Do you think this can be taken now and later transition into computer engineering with some ease. The course curriculum mentions that they will teach the basics of computer engineering as well. Thanks!

      Doesn’t matter. What ultimately matters is if you can demonstrate that you’ve learned the material you’ve been taught and/or can prove that you’ll be able to do the work required for that job position. Most of the time employers look at what your degree is rather than where you got it from.

    Is it true that electronics engineers can take the jobs of computer engineers whereas the vice versa won’t work. I am currently 4 months away from graduation in a top 50 university in the world but problem is I’m not sure what to declare. It might sound late for declaring but I have been taking both electronics and computer engineering courses so I can dual bachelor along with masters in business administration but I would like to ask about specific differences between the two career wise. I am also on my last two months of a 1 year internship for engineering in Canada. I’m not sure how private message works on UA-cam but your answer will be very much appreciated. Thank you.

    • @TheSn12
      @TheSn12  3 роки тому +3

      Hello John, I believe it can work both ways. Computer Engineers can work as electronic engineers although CompE’s would either need to take an internship that involves this kind of work while they’re getting their degree (to gain experience) and have an emphasis in the hardware track. This way, they’ll have close to (if not the same) qualifications as an EE student. That’s great that you can get a dual bachelor in both electronics and computer engineering! Also the masters in business admin really helps too (especially if you want to become an engineering manager, software sales, etc.). To answer the question about the different careers, it ultimately comes down to what you’ll be doing. Electronic engineers will have much more work/projects involving hardware/microcontrollers/circuits (similar to electrical engineers) where as computer engineers would have a mix of projects that involve both hardware and software programming (i.e. such as communicating or programming a microcontroller). In general, electronic engineers would do very little (if any programming) whereas computer engineers would be doing moderate amount of programming (creating short scripts, unit tests on hardware and/or software, code maintenance, etc.). In terms of everything else (pay, demand, competition), both electronics and CompE are about the same. I hoped this helped and answered your question!

    I got in to electronic engineering and the same time information Technology engineering.
    I am wondering which one is better?

    • @TheSn12
      @TheSn12  3 роки тому +3

      It depends on what you want and prefer. Neither is better than the other but they each have their pros and cons depending on the person. Do you want work with microchips/microcontrollers in a lab? Or would you prefer fixing the hardware or helping others debug/figure out how to work an application? Do you want a higher pay (EE receive more than IT)? Would you be willing to stay in school longer (bachelors for EE but associates for IT)? Are you willing to put up with a rigorous course load (this is how it is for EE)? …again it all depends on what you want/prefer so I’d suggest looking up some info about these two topics, talk to others who are working in these fields or apply for an internship related to these fields. Anything to help you get a first hand experience/understanding of the work involved with them.

    What is different of computer science vs computer engineering vs IT?

    • @TheSn12
      @TheSn12  3 роки тому +1

      Good question! The differences between all three are very small but they do matter. In general: Comp. Science = programming, Computer Engineering = hybrid of Electrical Engineering & Comp. Science (I.e. networking, OS configurations/builds, low-level programming, cyber security, IoT, etc.) and IT = working with existing software and hardware (I.e. fixing bugs/leaks in a software, repairing hardware, helping others work/understand an application, etc.)…. Again these differences are very small but I can definitely make a video going into more detail about this. Thanks for the question!

    How hard is it to get a remote job as an electronic engineer?

    • @TheSn12
      @TheSn12  2 роки тому

      Good question. Just off of the top of my head, electronic engineering is a subset of electrical engineering so most of the positions in that area will require hands-on type work with the hardware. Although, there could be remote positions as an electronic engineering Manager (but again it’s a long shot). On a scale of 1-10, the difficulty would be about an 8. Not impossible but I doubt that there will be very many remote jobs for electronic engineers. Hope this answered your question.

      Not sure. I think the differences though are very very small where computer systems eng. involves working just with a computer and it’s components. Whereas Computer Engineering involves working with software on the computer and other physical parts (such as a motherboard, IoT, etc.). This is just an educated guess though but I can make a video about it though if that would be helpful.

      I think you can pursue a game development career with a Computer Engineering degree but, as ChannelBreak mentioned, it’d be best if your focus is in software engineering. Game development involves major software programming (computer science would be the ideal option) but since you’re already in computer engineering then I’d suggest focusing on taking more programming courses than the average CompE student, apply for internships that involve programming/software development projects and even do some personal projects in your free time (I.e. develop a simple game in C++, Python, etc.). This will help you gain the experience you need to be considered for a game developer position. And thank you! I hoped you’ve found my videos helpful!

    Can someone be a good Electronic Engineer and actually. be bad at using computers?

    • @TheSn12
      @TheSn12  3 роки тому

      Yes. Most electronic engineering workers either build or manage the building process of all electronics (not just computers) such as the implementation of a microchip, wiring, communication with the hardware, etc. instead of actually using it. Although, it would be good to know how to use a computer especially in this time since everything is/will be virtual due to COVID. So even if you don’t know how to use a computer I think you’d be okay with landing a job that involves building and testing of hardware parts.

Computer engineering is combination of Electronics and Computer Science but dont have depth in hardware as electronics engg has.
