..Back in the early 80's, I did 3yrs in the Army working in the Transport dept with access to an inspection pit, tools and compressor. We were all at it, and when I left, I got into small repairs and engine tuning in my mothers' garage. I remember cusomizing a Ford Capri 3.0L E, K Reg, '71. It took me 6 months. It turned out very nice, dark Burgundy with flaired arches and a crushed red velvet dash and door cards, huge tyres and TWO bright yellow radio ariels front to back and massive spotlights on the front bumper. Was a good looker for back then. Can't believe it would be 53 yrs old now..!! Fond memories indeed.

@@philtucker1224 Thanx m8. Yeah, I really enjoyed working on that. I loved it. Nice escort,
I bought a lovely red mk 1 1300gt escort from lenny medlars huge scrap yard 30 years ago
Remember old lenny medlars used to buy actually decent cars
The mk1 1300gt red escort black vinyl roof
1 owner literally an old lady who took car to local garage they put 2 new Ford wings on it and mot car about to respray the wings and the old lady passed away
Lenny medlar used to buy hundreds of cars from the auctions
Anyway I chopped the roof to 18 inches
Put a essex V6 capri engine and gearbox propshaft and axle
Obviously I had to have certain things cut and trimmed and I had to put bubble arches on the car
Man it drove fantastic until it always happened when you're young with a young family you get a ridiculous offer
And you sell the car
The other was a red mk1 3l twin headlights 3l gt gtxl black vinyl roof lol. Mint condition
I had lowered the car and tuned the engine until it blew up
So I fitted a rover 3.5 V8 engine which was really easy just had to have prop cut and balanced
Trouble was the V8 rover engine was made of Alloy and was much more lighter than the heavy cast iron V6 capri engine
And made the car sit 4 inches higher at the front lol
That car would topnout 150 mph straight through twin exhausts lol
My lovely gold mk3 3l ghia automatic capri
I dislike automatics lol well at that young age 😂
So I changed it to manual again pedal swap clutch gearbox few other little changes but easy enough
Had that car for number of years and few months after I got married it gets stolen
My reg FTW 7T I BOUGHT THE NUMBER PLATE just for keep sake my wife dislike the car because it was new
KITCHEN or CAR
and sadly I chose car perhaps we we are now separated 😔
My mk2 lotus cortina
Took serval attempts to buy it at auction over 3 months and eventually paid £800 plus fees
Remember over 30 years ago or probably more stuff wasn't as valuable then as it is now
Engine was seized solid
I stripped engine got it all running and washed and polished
And basically just left it in my garage for 6 years until again sigh 😕
Someone offers you ridiculous amount of money and you sell it
I think I sold car for £8000
Which sounds fantastic but 5 years after that the prices for lotus cortinas went mad
And it passed hands for £25000
And now they are worth serious money
Numous mk2 1600E cortinas
Remember I was born in mid sixties and both my sons are in there thirties but only one is a fully qualified car bodyshop mechanic
Anyway my last car i gave to my oldest son just few days ago
Ive owned it since 2002
Its a 2000 black Honda integra type R dc2
But professionally upgraded to T4 Turbo the engine had forged pistons almost everything was of high quality forged lightweight to make as much HP but to be reliable and drivable
It runs 400BHP at the wheels
And I used to go to the F1 events as security
Even met the doctor at Donnington in superbikes
He was looking at the car but I didn't know who he was and could not understand him and TBH he sounded like a little girl
Much to my embarrassment when someone corrected me
I basically ignored Rossi and told him to bugger off what a idiot am I
Coupled with that I bought and sold loads of vintage mopeds scooters and motorbikes
But sadly due to a recent stroke that why I gave my oldest son my car
What should we do about cars keep them
But unless you have the space to keep them warm and dry and fully maintain them
They will just sit there and rust or parts seize up
Great story 94, I hope you are still managing ok and have enough money etc to be well cared for. Don’t give up buddy, best wishes to you. 🙏🇬🇧

Lord have mercy...now we're talking. Stick your RS3,s and M3,s. Give me that all day long...👌🏾
That’s the sickest car you’ve had on the channel to this date end of 😂 totally sick 👌👌👍🏻
Stunning colour and the car is a beauty but if you donnt mind me saying I’ve got niece who lives a country lane like these lanes so surely those no need to drive your car like this fast down a lane
Gotta be the cleanest escort resto out there
😂 ok
It's amazing how little power rover made from their v8s.
My friend won this. No joke. It's basic..but good fun.
Thing is sick, but I'd definitely look into a cam, valves, lifters, guides and springs if you're going to be revving that poor Buick/Rover V8 that high, I definitely heard some float going on a few times lol.... and keep that heat in check, or all that aluminum is going to be worthless 😅
Old school style proper.
@LivingLifeFast might want to give the boys at RPI Rngineering a shout they're specialists at adding power to Rover V8's
Definitely my style, beautiful car.
Love it 👍 I’d put a 3uz in it, cheap and easy 300hp.
🥰Turbo that BADBOY!!💪
Wild car bro looks sick
Lovely machine, the mods aren't to my taste though, I'm not keen on the size of the splitter, wing or wheel arches though the latter is unavoidable to fit the doner TVR and the Jag rear axle.
I mean wow 👌.
Lol at the misted windscreen!
