Thanks for this video, it's the only one I could find on UA-cam that walks through a complete door replacement. I see all the comments are admiring the woman's decorating thoughts, and wanting the man to do this for them, nobody actually trying to follow the DIY steps. So I'll be the 1st, I tried this. It went ok, but not nearly as easy as this guy makes it look of course. This was my 1st time trying to make something (not just demo) with a router. I kept grinding the plastic box, more than the wood door :) any tips on how to do this deftly? Also the hardest part was that my old door is not quite the standard size so before attaching the hinges I had to saw the top and side of the new door, total pain.
The new doors and hardware are beautiful! I wish my husband was handy! I would love to change out our doors. We still have the old hollow core doors. Those tools make it look so easy.

Beautiful choice Yami! One of the reasons l purchased my home was that the previous owners upgraded all the interior and extetior door to arts & crafts doors eith oil rubbed bronzed finishes. Ive continued by changing out all the bathroom sinks and showerhead fixtures to match.

That’s far from the truth! It’s stressful attempting new things but as you do things more often you get better. No one is great the first time. It all takes practice. Kudos to you for setting your anxiety aside and just doing it!

Good job I use my foot. Lol. Most builders grade doors are hollow core, cheaper and inside doors don’t have the same requirements as outer doors. But a heavier door gives you extra fire time. Love the hardware.

Great video! I've determined that even with the purchase of the routing guides etc. it is much more economical to do this job myself! Were the doors custom orders or did you get lucky with the door openings being the perfect size? Unfortunately my current interior doors are all slightly less than the standard 30" so I am going to have to do some planing to get them to fit.

@@Majerly_Annoyed I bought the same doors on Wayfair and planned them on the side and cut it about 1/2 an inch on the bottom. The planning was actually easier than I thought it was going to be. Turned out great so far, just need to pain them. Much cheaper than most companies who want 600-700 per door installed. And I have tools I can use on other projects.
How many hours does it take to do this per door and how much would you pay someone to do this work? A local door company has quoted $500-$600 per door, and we have at least 11 doors we could do. This isn't going to work for our budget.
IMPORTANT: If you have pets and you choose to use builder's grade doors, you must paint the bottom edge of the door, preferably with multiple coats of paint, before installing. A urethane clear sealer might also be a good idea. REASON: If a pet urinates against a door, the liquid will run down the door and drip onto the floor. There will always be an amount of liquid that just hangs in drops on the bottom edge of the door until it evaporates. If the bottom of the door is unfinished, or just primed, the liquid can absorb into the material and, if it's the typical engineered wood (particle board), after a couple of years of this, the material will begin to swell and break down, ruining the bottom edge of the door and causing the veneer to flare outwards.

My builder grade doors have only 2 hinges. If I switch to solid core, should I add a third hinge?
I definitely would. These doors are much heavier than builder grade doors.
In my opinion the doors that where there before had a more eye catching look the new ones look plain. But that is just me . Looks good though
