You are welcome. Did you see My video "Black Mutants Besides Storm" You can learn about even more obscure but very cool Black Superheroes hidden in the X Universe! ua-cam.com/video/mwgNaISDor0/v-deo.html
We need to introduce the real "black superheroes" and be done with racebending established ones. Like a way to get away with recycling characters or not give us ones we can actually claim. I you can change a character to black, you can change them to anything. Thus, it's not a black character, but a temporary fix for the current situation. Mercy Graves was 3 races within about 5 or 6 years: Asian (BvS), White (Supergirl), and Black (Titans).
what you said was the intention of this video. everyone was created after 2000. All were Black when first introduced and Marvel and DC can keep developing them going forward with no swaps. We already have gotten Shuri, Riri Williams, and Moon GIrl and Aqualad animated. Hopefully more of them listed here like the Blue Marvel and Blades daughter Brielle get some shine in the future! ua-cam.com/users/comicpower
Nice List. Aqualad/Jackson Hyde is Black Mantas son. Duke Thomas was powered up to metahuman status plus he was the Final Knight standing in Dark Multiverse one-shot from Dark Nights Metal series. He was a major part of Black Lightning's , I mean Batman Outsider Run. Tianna Toomes is Miles' MJ and I am all in on Team Tianna even tho the movies have sold us on the Spider Gwen relationship but I am all Team Starling. Ironheart just got rid of the Mandarin's Ten Rings in Invincible Ironman run. Blue Marvel was featured in Defenders Beyond mini-run and just appeared in Magneto comic. Al Ewing is the writer that uses him the most. I am thinking they are bringing Bloodline in because Mahershala Ali is 50 and if Blade is going to be a part of the MCU they will need a character to carry on the franchise as he ages out. I like that you gave the Star Wars love! I agree with the Black X-men comment - Manifold is considered Omega level by some also I like Tosin. Genesis is Apocalypse wife just got dusted up by Storm. I tried to like the Naomi TV show but it wasn't working for me. I think Val-Zod and Calvin Ellis (President Superman) could be included on the Honorable mention. I have all the 1st issues except Divinity in my collection.
Thank you watching and your enthusiasm. I can see you are a true fan and like me want to see more of these newer Black comic book characters grow in popularity. You stated you were up on all of them except Divinity. I would advise you find that first Divinity 4 issue miniseries from Valiant circa 2015. Thanks and this was a nice list or thing to do. The honorable mentions were very nice since you included some good ones so that is appreciated. Good job

Thanks for the list, As a older (somewhat disillusioned reader) you actually piqued my interest with Divinity and Rat Queens. I will have to look i to both. Great video!
Thanks for watching. Indie comics like the ones you mentioned are putting out some awesome stuff. I grew up with Marvel but now about 70% of what i read is indie. I appreciate the big two and they have iconic characters but most of them are 50 to 80 years old and every story about them has already been told and indies are a fresh start. You dont have to know decades of continuity to get into indies. So please sub and stick around for more. ua-cam.com/users/comicpower

Great List!! The Moon Girl TV Show was such a great way to update her character! Hope we get an Avengers Academy mini series with Bloodline and Moon Girl.
I like black Aqualad...til they "changed" him. They seem to do that a lot with minority characters and characters they don't know what to do with like Tim Drake.
iT iZ so many Black MUTANTS,TRiAGE, TEMPO, MANiFOLD, GENTLE, Thrid Eye, and not a mutant but was in Black Panther TOSiN, just to name a few of newbies i like. Oh and iSCA The Unbeaten.
Thanks for watching and commenting. My channel already supports Black superheroes but with Black history month upon us now, I will go that extra mile on promoting especially these lesser known ones. For example, I wish Marvel would redesign Tempo and give her something more important to do by putting her in the middle of a major storyline! Thank you for watching. The comics industry is developing some awesome Three dimensional Black characters for the future so the race swapping can be retired. Be sure to sub if you haven't ua-cam.com/users/comicpower
Rat Queens is absolutely hilarious and also well written, definitely worth it. I like Blue Marvel, genuine scientist super heroes always work well for me and its a welcome break from Richards/Stark. Naomi was good too, she was a likeable young character who actually wanted to be on the Justice League without that stereotypical angry-chip-on-shoulder, got done dirty in the TV show, was waaaaaay better in print.
Thank you for your feedback. I cant stop talking about Rat Queens. I wish it was an animated series with all its raunchy cleverness intact. I wish Marvel used Blue Marvel more. Its a good time for more POC in comics and fiction overall. Stick around and watch more. ua-cam.com/users/comicpower
Thanks for your input. I hope we get to see Duke in live action one day. The larger public would love him if they put him out there for a larger audience outside of comics. ua-cam.com/users/comicpower
I like the divinity character very original although it’s not popular it has potential am not sure if there are black cosmonauts though, but very interesting to read.
In regards to the MU timeline, the Human Top is the first black superhero in the MU since he was a member of both the Kid Commandos and the Invaders during WW2.
I knew of all the Marvel and DC ones, including the honorable mentions. Only 1 non Marvel/DC was I aware of. My funds ate limited, so I stick to the big companies as a way to curtail my spending. It still only works sometimes.

I see what you are saying. But squeezing him into that mess of a film is probably a good thing that he wasnt.. I think marvel has an opportunity to introduce him in the Fantastic Four film. He could be a peer of Reed Richard's. All the hints we are getting is that the FF film.will be In the 1960s which matches his time. Even if he doesn't get powers yet. His intro could be here. We'll see. m.ua-cam.com/users/comicpower
@ComicPower Well if you watched Wanda Vision Monica named drop the name Adam. So we all knew she was talking about the Blue Marvel. So why not pay that off in the Marvel's movie in a end credit scene, a tease or something. Letting us know that the Blue Marvel is coming to MCU sooner than rather later. We know Monica and Adam had a relationship in the comics. Why name drop and don't at least tease some sort of pay off. It's a miss opportunity.
Great video! As a black fan of superhero media, I knew about a lot of these characters, so I'm glad someone is spreading the word about them! Sorry you got a lot of rather disparaging or even bigoted (against lgbt people or women) comments! A lot of them are just seeing what they want to see, lol!
Thank you for your feedback. I am not too much worried about the trolls with the sexism and homophobia. What i learned is that silent majority is overwhelming supportive of the material. What shows up in the comments often is a loud obnoxious but actually tiny group of people that just wants attention and present a false accusation of a "gay takeover" Once i present facts that of the top 10 only 2 of the characters are LGBTQ or that of the top 20 only 4 are. they dont have much to say after that. I just find it ironic that if you are Black, you are the member of a persecuted minority. So how could you discriminate against another persecuted minority never made sense to me..
that character fell into a gap. He was first created in The Spectre #54 in June of 1997. so hes too old for this list which featured characters created 2000 and AFTER but hes not popular to have landed in my overall list that included legacy characters. He is scheduled to appear in the Superman movie rebooted scheduled for 2025 so it may raise his profile then. Thanks for replying! ua-cam.com/video/ni-7xrhZ7CQ/v-deo.html
@@ComicPower I figured that’s why he was omitted. He’s not relatively new but terribly unused. I just thought I would throw that out there because I wasn’t sure if his origin was late 90s or early 2000s. Good work on the list though. I’m subscribed now.
this list was for NEW heroes created after 2000. NT made his first appearance in 1989 so he's too old for this list. But he's often overlooked from his era. Thank you for bringing him up. I will highlight one day in the future. ua-cam.com/users/comicpower
Thanks for watching. Blades baby momma is named Saffron and shes been around as his love interest dating back to 1973 after the character was created. They just didn't put her in the Blade films in the 90s! But I follow the joke you are saying. But nope. Blade is down for the sisters! LOL! marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Safron_Caulder_(Earth-616)
Only 2 of my top 10 are LGBTQ. If you expand to my honorable mentions then only 5 out of 20 characters are LGBTQ. So lets do the math. 15 of the 20 characters mentioned here are not gay. The overwhelming majority. So how does that add up to "Almost every?" Apparently you are not a math genius are you?
@@ComicPower no your list is great! I just mean in general with these characters. I’ve noticed that a character can’t be just black they have to bi racial or bi sexual .. it’s almost like they’re shipped together or they making these characters diversity vehicles verse just making characters who so happen to be black
I have two different Black superhero top 10's the one you are posting on is about the best NEW ones. Characters after created after 2000 to the present. The other is top 10 Legacy all time. Spawn who was created in 1992, is on that list ranked 3rd. much respect. link here. ua-cam.com/video/ni-7xrhZ7CQ/v-deo.html
Love the list, learner a few I never heard of (Diviniy) BUT... noticing a pattern: Aqualad, Thunder, Mr Terrific (Arrowverse), Sojourner-GL, Domino Swift, Sana Starros. Seems quite disproportionate to white superheros
thanks for watching. If you are stating that the number of LGBTQ characters that are Black are higher than the White ones, apparently you are not paying enough attention. Harley Quinn, Mystique, Loki, Kitty Pryde and many more are in the rainbow coalition. I made a video about the Top 10 LGBTQ comic book characters here. if you want the receipts ua-cam.com/video/OVV9GDyqE_o/v-deo.html
Aqualad, moon girl, signal, Bloodline, silencer , mosaic, naomi (powerhouse), (all after 2000s) I think there are a lot other minorities even less represented... Like Asians are most of the world and how many relevant recent Asian or Latin characters we see? At least I can think in some original recent black ones...
Yes. he does. his comic has been running virtually non stop since 1992. he is up to #344 plus issues now. its the longest running indie comic in history! imagecomics.com/comics/series/spawn
Representation matters! But there's a lot of gay black female characters. And a lot of these "new" characters, are just black versions of their white counterparts. I'd like to challenge some of these creators to be more original in their creativity, adjacent to how WE are naturally as a people!
not sure what you mean. if you count the honorable mentions, 10 of these characters are female. of that 10.. only 3 are gay. Sojourner (Green Lantern), Domino Swift, and Sana Starros. Not gay..brielle (Bloodline), Dee of Rat Queens, Moongirl, Riri Williams, Shuri, Starling and Powerhouse.. So apparently you are bad at math because you said there are "A LOT" of Black female characters. 70% of them are not gay, and 30% of them are.. I take it from what you are saying. ONE would be too many for you I guess.
you are right. I was not aware of the new code name at the time I made this video. I really like the character and would love to see a live action version in the MCU one day. My pick would be the actress Lovie Simone! watch this short. ua-cam.com/users/shortsZ6m0Xgqniwk

Spiderman “miles morales” is honestly my favorite black superhero but he all ways getting disrespected by the fan base which kinda aggravates me a bit.
who is ever dissin' Miles Morales is a loud angry minority that is mad that he winning. The majority is on your side in the love for the character so focus on that. For his 10th anniversary in 2021. I made this video in my archives celebrating him. check it out here! ua-cam.com/video/4f7yvQ6DZhk/v-deo.html
funny you mention that. I made a video exactly about that subject of "Why are their so many Black superheroes with BLACK in their name?" It was sarcastic and too many took it literal. I was making fun of the trope. take a look! ua-cam.com/video/8R9ythmGXus/v-deo.html
@ComicPower oh OK 😆 i understand I've made fun of those things too I'm new to your channel I noticed that from the time I was a kid back in the '80s from the comic books to the cartoons their race would be always in their superhero name like Black Vulcan or Samurai and Apache Chief
@@BklynZu probably the creators of these characters being lazy. Even miles morales has an electric looking venom strike. They just cant help themselves. I guess it looks cool to draw. Lol
😅@ComicPower that's true miles has a electric shock ability they never really put too much thought into these characters it started back in the 1970s with what they thought was diversity but in actuality they really came off more like stereotypes then actual diverse characters
Why are nearly half the Black Superheroes LGBT affiliated?? No disrespect, but these are Comics directed towards a younger audience, where Sexuality should not yet be a focal point. And being Black should not be synonymous with being Gay or Lesbian. Race is already a controversial subject, so to add Sexuality into the fold only further complicate things. White Superheroes are powerful, masculine, wealthy, with Wives & Families. While Black Superheroes are outcasts with deviant behavior?? Let the characters abilities & storyline be the focus & not their adverse curiosity in Society. It is already a threat being Black & powerful, why complicate things further with other underlying issues?? 😔😔
Apparently you are bad at math. Out of my top 10 on this list. Only 2 are LGBTQ in Aqualed and Sojourner Mullien. So 80% not gay. If you expand to my honorable mentions only 5 out of 20 are gay characters.and 15 are not. So WTF are you talking about. Please learn to count and then come back and argue.

Is who owns the right to these black characters because I have issues with black producers that's not making black superhero movies and they come up with saying that DC owns the copyright to someone marvel owned copyright so these new ones you talking about who wants the copyright to them
Copyright is a very complicated subject. The general rule is that if a creator works for a publishing company amd creates an original work while employed there. The Intellectual property belongs to the publisher as a work for hire. Whatever they paid you as sn employee is all they owr you.Its been tested in court numerous times.. The exceptions are if its negotiated in advance to terms. For example tony Isabella receives royalties as creator of Black lightning. These deals are rare though.

Let me clear up some confusion. This video is called the top 10 NEW Black superheroes. Its for characters created in the year 2000 or later. I mentioned that in the title and at the beginning. To see my other video of the Top 10 overall see the link below. Thanks.. ua-cam.com/video/ni-7xrhZ7CQ/v-deo.htmlsi=9117MDfY9COPhbLt
Thanks for your feedback. The list reflects my personal taste. I encourage everyone that views to post there own top 10 New Black superhero list in the order they see fit
I am definitely a big fan of this character. That Divinity Mini series from 2015 was one of the best storylines I ever read in the history of comics. Its that good. I wish Valiant would keep using this character in something. But I have no idea what they are doing over there these days. Their publishing schedule is just a trickle!
Interesting reports suggest they tried to make this New Blade about Bloodline and Mahershala Ali was going to quit, because of it. Marvel has not allowed a black super hero to fight a white criminal as the movie’s primary villain. They also have not allowed a black super hero to have a film where they weren’t saved by a woman at least twice. So I would expect bloodline to be there.
1. We don't know for sure what is going on behind the scenes with the Blade reboot. There is speculation but we don't know what the truth is. 2. We do know Phase 4 has been a mess. Disneys new CEO took over in early 2020 Bob Chapak and insisted that Marvel crank out content to help sell Disney plus and everyone agrees looking back on it, they crammed too much stuff in with questionable quality. They fired that guy and rehired Bob Iger who retired and he is trying to fix the ship. Only 1 movie coming out MCU this year (Deadpool and Wolverine) so they can patch things up. 3. Not sure about your theory about Black superheroes not fighting White criminals. Black Panther tried to take Buckeys head off in Civil War. Most of the flag smahers were White in the Falcon and Winter Soldier Disney plus show. We only had two feature films (both Black Panther) with Black lead and Chad passed so he couldnt do the 2nd one. 4. Sam as the new Captain America will headline his own movie Brave new World coming up. apparently the Leader from the Hulk will be the villain. 5. If Marvel did have a plan for Bloodline to inherit the crown from her dad. would be too early. The character needs more development. If i was writing it she would make a cameo as a child like 8 to 10 years old. So by the time you get to the 3rd film, shes like 18 and ready to take over. I am for waiting to see what happens and not overplay speculation.
@@Meauxbley apparently you are taking unconfirmed rumors as truth without any evidence backing them up. If you wish to believe them then its yours business.

1. So what do you have against women? 2. six of the top ten are women so thats 60% 3. If you add up the honorable mentions of the 20 characters mentioned. 11 of them are female and 9 are male. so the complete list is 55% female.

Changing a race is lazy, unimaginative, and tends to force fans away from story. I always say bring in more ethnically diverse characters. If you can imagine a backstory on a pandered character then you you can come up with a character your culture would truly accept and be proud of following.
Why does it feel like every time they come up with a black character? That character also has to be gay . It's like they're trying to get a two for one. It feels like you can't just stand on your blackness . It has to be hyphenated With other adjectives .
Only 2 of my top 10. Are LGBTQ characters. So 80% are not gay. If you expand it to the honorable mentions to a top 20 list then only 4 of 20 are gay... once again 80% of the list are not LGBTQ So in saying that your theory is not accurate in terms of the numbers
@@ComicPower I stand corrected then . But I was just saying in all types of media its like lets kill 2 or 3 birds with one stone. Take like the new doctor Who. for example just sayin. Its nuthin personal against the gay thing in particular. But it like black folks always have to have a modifier at the end.
What do you mean? Of the top ten. 8 of them are straight characters. If you add the honorable mentions then 16 of the 20 are straight characters.. So 80% of the list is not LGBTQ and 20% are. But it sounds like 1% would be too many for you.
@@ComicPower No 1%, is actually 1%. I asked a question and you added your opinion onto it to make me seem intolerant of that community. I can respect others way of living while also being aware of an ongoing attempt to propagandize a microscopic percentage of a faction of America to the majority that doesn’t participate in that way of life. To question why that’s happening doesn’t make one a bigot, but only curious to why…. That’s not to mention the agitprop of the LGBTQ that occurs in the current MCU. All I asked was, why? He would not be included because most do not just class Black characters as simply non-White. Jaime Reyes is depicted as a person of Mexican heritage which puts him as Latino or Hispanic and Native, not Black (sub Saharan African).

And if you think spin offs are bad then please do not support Miles Morales.. but you probably make an exception for him right? 8 of the top 10 are NOT gay. Expand it to the top 20 and 16 out of 20 are not gay. So you are bad at math.
Rat queen is a spin off the rat catcher. Google it if you haven't hears from him. And I am not a fan of miles morales. He cool but not a fan. And as far as the math. I can name top 20 non black superheroes and not one is lgbtq. That's all I am saying , at least originally .

I like black Aqualad...til they "changed" him. They seem to do that a lot with minority characters and characters they don't know what to do with like Tim Drake.

To this day, I still don't understand why the Blue Marvel was not in the movie called the Marvel's?
I see what you are saying. But squeezing him into that mess of a film is probably a good thing that he wasnt.. I think marvel has an opportunity to introduce him in the Fantastic Four film. He could be a peer of Reed Richard's. All the hints we are getting is that the FF film.will be In the 1960s which matches his time. Even if he doesn't get powers yet. His intro could be here. We'll see.

What shows up in the comments often is a loud obnoxious but actually tiny group of people that just wants attention and present a false accusation of a "gay takeover"
Once i present facts that of the top 10 only 2 of the characters are LGBTQ or that of the top 20 only 4 are. they dont have much to say after that. I just find it ironic that if you are Black, you are the member of a persecuted minority. So how could you discriminate against another persecuted minority never made sense to me..
What about Mr. Terrific?
that character fell into a gap.

Not that it’s a problem but why is almost every black character gay as well? Just curious.
Only 2 of my top 10 are LGBTQ. If you expand to my honorable mentions then only 5 out of 20 characters are LGBTQ.

I wish Valiant would keep using this character in something. But I have no idea what they are doing over there these days. Their publishing schedule is just a trickle!
@@ComicPower a movie would be surely Epic!! Matt Kindt come on my guy… Get something done in regards to a Series or Movie! 🍿

@@ljjohnson2412 I am not angry. I just run a no nonsense board. If you speak in the comments, Opinions are welcome, but facts will be checked. you better be ready to defend what you say., if you speak up.
If you expand it to the honorable mentions to a top 20 list then only 4 of 20 are gay... once again 80% of the list are not LGBTQ
So in saying that your theory is not accurate in terms of the numbers
@@ComicPower I stand corrected then . But I was just saying in all types of media its like lets kill 2 or 3 birds with one stone. Take like the new doctor Who. for example just sayin. Its nuthin personal against the gay thing in particular. But it like black folks always have to have a modifier at the end.
Why are so many of these characters LGBTQ? What’s wrong with being heterosexual in today’s society?
What do you mean? Of the top ten. 8 of them are straight characters. If you add the honorable mentions then 16 of the 20 are straight characters..
So 80% of the list is not LGBTQ and 20% are. But it sounds like 1% would be too many for you.
@@ComicPower No 1%, is actually 1%. I asked a question and you added your opinion onto it to make me seem intolerant of that community. To question why that’s happening doesn’t make one a bigot, but only curious to why…. That’s not to mention the agitprop of the LGBTQ that occurs in the current MCU. All I asked was, why? Instead of trying to paint me as parochial, why don’t you inform me since you seem to find my question offensive….

@@xandermichael836 what exactly is disrespectful? the race swapping?
@ComicPower Yes, I am seeing a trend, though, as more Black writers get their shot, they are creating new characters.
Blue Beattle is Black #1
He would not be included because most do not just class Black characters as simply non-White. Jaime Reyes is depicted as a person of Mexican heritage which puts him as Latino or Hispanic and Native, not Black (sub Saharan African).
I agree. Blue Beetle is Latin. and no evidence of afro Latin. So hes not eligible for this list.
