A great review, thank you !!! I have watched lots of volume pedal reviews, and I am very greatful that you have described the Behringer volume pedal in straight forward terms that dont confuse matters with technical specifications that I can't really relate to. And until now I have only been able to speculate that a dual input volume pedal, will allow me to plug in my acoustic and electric guitar via one volume pedal. No one else has stated that this would be possible. Thanks for clarifying this, as well as confirming its capabilities and build quality. Kind regards Ian Harvey
***Attention*** This DOES work with a standard 9v power brick or power supply. It was doing my head in trying to work out why I could not get any of my 12V power supply cables to work. (By the way I also hooked up my battery connection using an adapter from my 'Spot 1' brick to connect from the battery terminal to my brick, as you have in this video. It worked fine, but the wiring was cumbersome - I was about to drill into the pedal to keep it neat until I worked this out). Eventually I did find a 12v power supply that would work. It had the exact same specifications as the 7 others that didn't. So I knew it wasn't a faulty pedal (as I had assumed). The difference between the power supplies was the POLARITY. So.... In my 'Spot 1' brick package I found a polarity adapter. Voila! It worked. My Spot 1 brick has options for 12V and 9v. The pedal worked on both. Therefore you will just need a polarity adapter (looks like a small cable extension but obviously makes the inside hole positive instead of negative - or vise versa) and your standard 9v brick should work. Would have saved me a lot of time if the pedal instructions mentioned this!!!
I would like to convey to you that you most certainly made the feature functionality of this product crystal clear. I have looked at other videos relating to products that left me "dazed and confused." As a newbie, I was looking for a straight forward product to bring the lead guitarists volume to the front during solos and this will do the trick. Thank you for keeping it "KISS" (Keep It Simple Stupid) for the newbies out here! AND "The Price Is Right." Thanks man, much appreciated...
Thank you for the review! This helped a lot on which pedal to buy because they pretty much all sound the same and I liked the explanation of all the features as well as knowing that it is powered by a 12 volt adaptor opposed to a 9 volt adaptor.
Hey Kennis, nice review of a rather obscure piece of equipment. I 've been keeping this in my closet since the second day I bought it, when I discovered that I had to plug it to a power supply. Another thing I didn't like is that the minimum position is waaay back for a standing guitarist, more like a position for a keyboardist. In the few cases that I use it nowdays is to control the feedback of my EHX deluxe memory boy which has effect loop I/O for the delay repeats (amazing feature) while using the expression input of the EXH to control the time with an M Audio epxression pedal (another simply amazing and full of uses pedal!).
Everyone here who is complaining about the pedal review: it's a review, not a demo. It's not labeled a demo. Go elsewhere. Volume pedals sound similar. I wanted to know how well this was constructed since Behringer have a reputation of not being too durable. Great review!
Thanks Kennis, spotted one of these in local pawn shop for £20. Watched your clip, went back and bought it. You're right, great product and well made. Thanks!
I've ALWAYS used a volume pedal. For one thing most guitars loose tone(mostly highs) when lowering the volume knob;so with the pedal you can play at a lower volume and maintain full tone of the instrument. Add a little delay and make some great sounding volume swells. As for dynamics playing live it adds so much. Thanks for another great review.
Great video. Can you please tell me where you got that 9 volt adapter to power the pedal? I have been looking for one but haven't had any luck. Would really appreciate it as my pedal board has only 9 and 18 volt outputs. No 12 volt. Thanks.
Hey Kennis great review I couldn't agree more with behringer products they can be real great for the money, but I did have a question before buying this volume could I plug in the two instruments and run a mono output or do I have to run stereo outputs if running a stereo input?
I had horrible volume loss, tone suck, and high end cut off with this pedal. I had to order a polarity adapter (which still hasn't come in) so maybe it works better once its off battery power, but as of right now it is only being used an expression pedal.
Hey nice demo, I have a question, please can you tell me dimensions of pedal (lenght), I don´t know if this pedal can match in slots of my Boss BCB-60 Pedal Board, aprox. 20 cm there...Thanks!
Where did you get your cable for a daisy chain? I can't really match up your video with pictures on music equipment web sites on where you are plugging that cable adapter into?
I respect your opinion but I found this pedal to be a major problem with my pedal board. As a CV pedal it is okay. For use as a volume pedal, it destroyed my tone and affected the signal in such a way that caused me to think other effects had become faulty. Once removed it was night and day. I love my beheinger synths. they CAN make good stuff but I’m not sure that this is one of those products. Just another guys take.
I have a pedal board made by Gator called The Bone that came with a power supply. Would I still need the 9volt adapter and if so where would I find this adapter? Thanks for posting this video
bro i have the fcv 100 and the DW400 behringer ,dw 400 have a exp/ctl but when i put my plush in the exp/ctl and put the conecction in the fcv 100 i dont listen anything of the wah ,maybe is the connections if u know whats my problem please help me
I wonder if this could be used as a sustain pedal on a MIDI keyboard controller? I know a sustain pedal is just a circuit opening and closing, but what would happen if you plugged this in to the sustain slot?
Hey, can you tell me what kind of adapter that is? I also use a string to power all my pedals and this seems like a great option for adding this pedal to my chain. Thanks
Can you use this without needing power? All volume peddles I am aware of run without power. I would think the power is needed for other applications but to be honest I'm not really sure why it needs power.
Great video Kennis! I have one question; how much do you think this pedal affects your tone? I've heard that there is a certain amount of volume and treble loss when using this pedal. In your experience, what do you think?
It sounds to me that you need to set something in the M13 - some units (like my BOSS GT-8) have settings for the external pedal "Normal" or "Toggle." Yours might be set to "Toggle." "Toggle" mode would be like having a "button" footswitch to simple turn something "on" or "off." If you are using a continuous controller but have the unit set to "toggle" mode, your pedal will act like an "on/off" switch rather than an "up/down" controller. If you sweep all the up twice you'll flip from 0 to 100.
What was the adapter that you used for the 12v to 9v and how did you install it? And also, there is also a gray behringer fcv 100....is that the same thing as the one you're reviewing here just different colors? or is it a completely different pedal? thank you!
***** Thank you! There is also a gray behringer fcv 100....is that the same thing as the one you're reviewing here just different colors? or is it a completely different pedal?
***** Is this the battery clip converter that you were talking about? I already have a 1 spot and a daisy chain, so I don't need the whole combo pack. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/1SpotCBAT
why the power? doesent the volume work without battery?! all other volume pedals i have seen work without any power! i can get this one for 20euros, but i am a little confused about the power, can you help? regards - Levi
hey i'm new to volume pedals, so my question is does this work like the volume on your guitar where when u lower the volume it affects your gain? or does it work like amp master volume where it'll lower the actual volume instead of the gain?
Does it need power supply/battery all the time or maybe only to be expression pedal? I mean - I would be using it only as volume pedal - do I need to power this thing? :)
got mine just now. connected its output2 on cv mode to the behringer us600 (exp/ctl side input) which is on trem bar mode, stepped on it but nothing happen. may be you got the answer. tnx!
I have one of these that I bought to use as an expression pedal for my M13. I cant use it because when the toe is down everything is fine, but when i go heel down, if I go too far, it jumps back to 100% and stays there. If i want to use it again i have to set the min and max all over again. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is? I asked Behringer and they sent me another pedal that does the same exact thing.
Hi Everybody.. I've got a Kurzweil SP4-7 Stage Piano, and I need a Expression Pedal.. Are you Suggest this pedal? its very important.. thanks in advance..
the number ONE limitation is that it only sends out (from what i understand) POSITIVE 5v signal by CV - whereas many synths require plus/minus 5v or 10v even.... so just do your homework beforehand....
@kennisrussell I have delay, reverb, tremolo and chorus. I have no volume pedal at the moment. Ang this one is pretty cheap. But I guess it does the same thing as all the others colume pedal? Its just a bit lower quality I can imagine :) But I just play at home, and not in a band or anything, and dont wanna spend a lot of money. I just wanna do some ambient music, ambient sells, sheogaze.
I'm thinking of getting one and not the Roland EV-5, because the Behringer has twin exhausts, is less than half the price, and you can take the Behringer label off!!
You could've saved a lot of breath & your audience a lot of time if you had just played it instead of blathering on about it. I could get all the info from thr behringer website. What people come here for is to hear what it soubds like witb different settings. Better luck next time.
No battery required for Expression (CV) mode. (I hate batteries! They go dead at the wrong time. And worse, they can leak and ruin the device they are in!) I checked the manual (page 7) and it clearly shows a simple, passive circuit on Output 2 in CV mode. No battery! Manual: mediadl.musictribe.com/media/sys_master/h1b/ha8/8849703108638.pdf

Interesting point on Behringer products. In my experience, they are great value-for-money and I'm still using my pedals with no issues whatsoever.

Very good realistic, informative review thank you. And nice to see someone else who's not brand obsessed, and will look at the product on face value.
You can control equipment that has expression inputs so a pitch shifter for whammy fx and any modulation style effect with expression inputs.
Great review, thank you!
I have one, and I agree with every single word. nice video
I found that ths pedal is a massive tone sucker. Like others, I would love to hear you actually play it.
Great video. Can you please tell me where you got that 9 volt adapter to power the pedal? I have been looking for one but haven't had any luck. Would really appreciate it as my pedal board has only 9 and 18 volt outputs. No 12 volt. Thanks.
So you use your 9volt one spot to power this, even though it requires 12v?
I use lots of Behringer stuff, but the Ernie Ball volume pedal is worth the extra money. Best volume pedal available.
Hey Kennis great review I couldn't agree more with behringer products they can be real great for the money, but I did have a question before buying this volume could I plug in the two instruments and run a mono output or do I have to run stereo outputs if running a stereo input?

So is input1 stereo? Is output 1 stereo? Or do I need a mono cable in all 4 sockets to achieve stereo? I'll be using it to control backing tracks.
Great Review! Just a question: is this pedal high impedance or low impedance? Does anybody know?
I saw a spec sheet that said 300k input. But it’s a vca doing the vol ctl. Not a passive pedal in the traditional sense.
Nice! It was useful!. Especially minimal volume setting was helpful to me as I was wondering if it has boost function too.
Where can I buy a 9 volt battery adapter like you are using?

So this is an active volume pedal? Just seeking clarification :) I thought this was a good review. Thanks.
Great video Kennis! I have one question; how much do you think this pedal affects your tone? I've heard that there is a certain amount of volume and treble loss when using this pedal. In your experience, what do you think?
Thanks buddy! Keep the good videos coming :)
Very helpful thanks.
Hi, does anyone know that if you just want it for the volume do you need to plug it in or use the battery?
Should you use de ac adapter?... or has also a battery compartment?
Thank you Kennis!

Is this volume pedal any decent at swells? I watch a demo and this kid seemed to be incapable of pulling of a simple swell.
***** Yeah man, that's great! Thanks for taking the time to reply, not many people do that haha. I'm subscribing!
Is this pedal good for playing ambient music on the guitar?

Sure wish you would have demonstrated the pedal!
Sorry.
Kennis Russell no worries pal. Thanks for the video
Can it be used for Solo boosts?
This pedal gives me a sort of zoom, I don't know why that is. Do you know why?
I dont know if this guys ed sheeran but im sold to this pedal
Good review

OK, thank you very much for the answers! :)
Where's the demo??
It is good for Peavey Delta Stomp ?
how does that 9v adapter called so I can buy also one?:)
do you have a video playing with it?

I paid $450 for my delay pedal. And $200 is the regular price for a delay pedal with a tap tempo in it
How do you go in between Volume and Expression? Does anyone know?
I am 8 years tolate but on the side is a switch

It really need a battery, coz it is an optical volume pedal and doesnt have any potentionmeters
At this time i don't really want to pay for a pedal that cost more then my amp.
After watching this review i decided to buy this pedal..to say it's horrible, it's give a compliment. Completely disappointed. Useless
Yes! A lot of talking, I dont like reviews like this
A lot of talk and no demo, rubbish
