Remain polite and simply say that unless they are being accused of committing an offence or the officers have a warrant to seize the guns, they are not going to be handed over. And always wear a body camera... I never go shooting without my little body cam clipped to my coat... ANYBODY approaches and the first thing I do is turn it on, unload and be super polite. Polite sensible conversation, combined with understanding your legal position makes a huge difference to the outcome of any engagement.
Polite sensible conversations with todays police is not always possible, theres some proper idiots in the police now , a lot of them despise the fact that you actually own a gun legally, And when confronted with the fact that you know more about the law than them become quite aggitated and abusive and try to escalate things in order to confiscate your gun ,
A friend was threatened by a poacher, who he disarmed and dragged over a fence, on his own land. The police came out, gave the gun back to the poacher and let him go despite there being an independent witness to the threat with the gun. The police then threatened the farmer with charges of assault and would take his guns off him. The poachers, travelers, just walked away laughing. Another friend called the police when some chaps tried to break into his garage. He was told no one was available. "Don't worry, I'll just get the gun out". and hung up. His son in law gave chase giving a running commentary of where they were going to 999 expecting some sort of response if he got near some police. 5 minutes later, two armed response were bashing on the door, fully armed, for him to come out. He told them his son in law was chasing the criminals and they just said never mind "Where are the guns?" spending the next half hour telling him off, even though he had no guns. An elderly couple had someone break into there house whilst at home. They ran into the garden and called the police. No one available. They had to stand there and wait for him to leave with all the stuff. They did call the next day though, to see if he was still there. These were all West Mercia. And I could go on with more. The police are not any ones friends now, and actively target the victim.
In the U.S., city folks move to the country and call the sheriff's department when they see or hear shooting. They expect the locals to change their lifestyle. This is probably what happened in this situation.

You can’t have a good firearms officer when they don’t have proper military firearms training or experience, more importantly firearms officers do not have the educational requirements to operate firearms. Yeah but they should have said clearly, then guns stay on the ground and Noone touches them until you bring in firearms licensing officer. My mates daughter was groomed and the guy was caught, police came to the house to remove my mates guns and he refused them and said he will not surrender. Them to any officer and request a firearms licensing officer, they had to do what he asked.
The officers should be well aware of ALL the licensing laws. It is not like they wouldn’t expect to come across people with rifles and or shotguns in the countryside in their capacity as armed police officers
Wake up you lot who said it wouldn’t affect us when the hunting ban was being debated and then banned . I remember shooters and fishermen saying just that. They will ban our activities it brings in to much money. Hate to say we hunters with dogs told you so.
Spot on.
The farndale hunt folded, not because of the ban, but because shooting estates wouldn't give them access.
I always said hunting with hounds will cling on in some form when shooting is dead and buried. Sad thing is alot of shooters aren't fieldsports men these days......they are just shooters
The video does not explain what the complaint the police were acting upon. As the shooters were engaged on legal crop protection under GL 42 ( the farmer confirmed to the police) there was no crime committed . The police can’t arbitrarily seize legally held guns.

"The police can’t arbitrarily seize legally held guns." They can and the proof is they did. Not saying it was legal but your sentence is ignoring reality..
If a group of real criminals heard about this sort of action it would be very easy for them to organise an ambush and end up with some serious weaponry and equipment and a bunch of dead coppers.

This is a very sad country indeed, and being armed for your defence should be the first principle of any civilized society.
After all, the only people they seem to shoot are those experiencing mental health problems and assorted innocents. They really are in place just to protect those who rule and that must start coming to an end sooner rather than later.
So no laws broken, the police tress passed on private property with no reasonable justification for them being there and confiscated guns without reason, the word tyrants comes to mind
I prefer "Morons"
Hardly a new thing.. they've been that way for 30 plus years.. but nobody has the balls to line the streets and say enough is enough.
I guess that if we have a Labour government we can kiss goodbye to rural landowners having any independence of action upon their own land.
And the current government are doing a great job right?
@@liammepham6718 That was not my statement. Personally I see no politician worth voting for at the moment and I was born before there was a Health Service. When healthcare, pensions and nationalisation came in the Treasury stated the fiscal provisions that catered for them would fail after ten years. There has still been no revision to make them viable by any government. I think that is beyond sad. This might be the first major election I refrain from voting and over the years I have supported every major party but I see nothing to advance this nation offered by any politician.

I don't understand why they handed their shotguns over? Legally held, being lawfully used.
Polite sensible conversations with todays police is not always possible, theres some proper idiots in the police now , a lot of them despise the fact that you actually own a gun legally,
And when confronted with the fact that you know more about the law than them become quite aggitated and abusive and try to escalate things in order to confiscate your gun ,
Purchasing an expensive shotgun in this country is, I believe, less safe than investing in the Russian stock market.
Say it was a pride pigeon shooting

In the U.S., city folks move to the country and call the sheriff's department when they see or hear shooting. They expect the locals to change their lifestyle. This is probably what happened in this situation.
