Cook tip! Thanks
Here are a couple of holesaw pro tips :
-when cutting PVC with holesaw, run drill in reverse.
-use a hole instead of a pilot bit to keep holesaw tracking if cutting uneven surface or cant have pilot hole in plug, ..just as an option should the pilot bit not be conducive to progress for any reason. Cut a hole into a hunk of ¾" plywood using holesaw. Clamp or hotglue or 2x stick mounting tape to mount hunk of plywood , aligning hole to area hole is needed. Now remove pilot bit, stick holesaw in hoke in plywood and start cutting your hole.
-pilot bit should only stick out ½" max below holesaw to reduce the risk of kickback or otherwise binding up the saw and breaking the pilot bit.
j dog Thank you very much for the awesome tips! I have pinned them at the top of the page! Take care brother!
Brandon Lund wow! Thanks. I don't think I've ever been pinned before.
j dog my channel is about helping others, so when someone has a good tip to pass along, I like to see that they get credit, so thanks for the great tips. Take care brother!
Brandon Lund, cool. I'll keep that in mind. I've got lot's of tips n tricks I'd like to share. Maybe too many. I already subscribed but haven't checked out your catalog yet. Do you have any oxy/acet torch tips? A trick I use a lot, especially when using shop torches (as opposed to my own), if you cant get a sharp, defined flame n cone, with torch lit and as adjusted as you can get it, try to snuff out the flame on a piece of wood. (Be sure to have backflow devices installed, to be safe). Torch will pop like crazy. More popping is better than less. Then look at your flame. It should be almost picture perfect. It's a less evasive and way faster way to clean your oxy/acet torch tip. ..Be sure wood is not burning when finished
Idk why that tip popped up. ..no pun intended.
Would running the bit in reverse in a keyless chuck drill just loosen it or?
Now this is how the UA-cam was supposed to work: quick, informative and useful!
I just bought my first hole saw kit, and the bigger ones I'm not worried about, but the smaller ones got no pins to keep them in place on the center drill, just the threads. Even an old mech engineering dropout such as myself can see where that train is headed...
Thanks man I appreciate you watching.
Thank you for sharing this video, it was very helpful (even 6 years later.)
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Brandon, this was causing me no little stress, found your vid just in time to save my sanity (and also my bit)
Anytime! Thanks for your support and comment! I'm glad I could help :)

Life saver. Thanks for your video. First thing I did was put a pipe wrench on it corce it didn't work. So my hat's off to you

Glad it helped!
Thank you so much. I almost broke it using a pipe wrench. Thank God I saw your video. I hit it a couple of times, and it just slipped off. Thanks again.
I know your frustration Carlos 😀 I'm glad it worked!
great advice as usual.keep it simple is the way to go.
Thanks Henry!
Thanks, this worked and was a lot safer than the other video that I saw prior to this (holding saw in hand while using impact driver--I prefer to not hurt myself!)
Been there done that Jessica. Injuries are no fun. I'm glad it worked for you! 👍😁
Jessica I saw that video as well and though, ahhhh, no! LOL, glad you found Brandon's tip as I did!
I tried hitting it with a hammer for 5 minutes, and it never loosened. I eventually hit it harder until it was barely denting it, and still nothing. I then saw the impact driver with a 11/32 socket on the back of the hole saw shank, and I tried that. I put a welding glove on though, and put a couple old shop towels around the bit, plus I was holding it on the sides, not the teeth, and it came right off.
i just did this and big huge cut on ny finger🥲 bence why im on this vid
Mine was on so tight you would have though that it was welded. I tried adjustable wrench in conjunction with grip pliers and several other methodologies before finding this post. Thank you for taking the time to post this. 😊
Glad I could help!
Fantastic tip, Thank you 🙏
Thanks man!
Thanks Brandon. Worked a treat.
Glad I could help!
Thanks a lot for your help, so quick and easy! 👍🏻

Just wanted to say thanks for making this video. First time using a hole saw and thought there was no way I was getting the saw loose. Like some other people, I tried it at first and it didn't work. Just be persistent. I tried again later and sure enough it came off. Appreciate you helping those of us that don't have anyone else to turn to for help!
I'm glad I could help!
Thank you for this comment. At first it didn't work out. After reading this comment, I tried it again. It came out so easily.

Your welcome! I'm glad I could help
Thank-you for the tip! It helped me tremendously. I wanted to add, that as I don't yet have an electric impact driver, the older manual vatiety that you hit with a hammer will also work.
Great tip! Thank you!
Thank you very much. Hitting it gently on the edges really worked. Wow.
@Kaal Guri awesome!!!👌
This worked on my 150mm quick release holesaw. I tried wrangling it and muscling it and it didn’t work. I watched this video and 10 minutes later the holesaw was off. Thank you!
Fantastic!
Thank you! Mine got stuck on my first time using it! And the bit disengaged right away using your method 🙌🏼

Thanks man.....mine has baffled me for months! yep.....I have approached it several different times and have been unable to get it off of there. I have used hole saws 100 times but this particular set up confused me and is locked up tight. With your tip now I understand what has happened.....Im goin' back in!!!
Good luck man!
Ironically I just had this happen today and had to use a vise and a crescent wrench to break it free. I'll definitely try the hammer on the rim trick next time. Thanks Brandon
+Artfully Rogue Thanks man! I've done the same myself! Pipe wrenches, channel locks, I even heated a 5" hole saw once. It almost seems too simple, but it works slick!
This worked like a charm. Excellent video

Your welcome Maria! I'm glad I could help. I know the frustration you were dealing with....I didn't always know this trick :)

Brandon Lund Hi Brandon, Great tip. Question: What 1-3/8 hole saw with standard arbor do you recommend using with a De--Walt 1/2 inch electric deck, with variable speeds, to create a 1-3/8 hole on the corner of a acrylic tub. The tub is approx 1/4 inch in thickness. I am concerned the body of the drill might prevent me from holding the drill directly over the spot I wish to drill. I'm guessing I need to cover tub service with mastic tape first, and then drill a 1/8 inch pilot hole. Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks
Whenever I drill a tub, I drill a hole through a piece of 1/4" luan then I just place the wood where I want the hole. It decreases the chance of your bit wandering off and damaging the tub.
Thank you :) Its always annoyed me and this will come in handy someday.. Thanks again.
Your welcome Richard! I'm glad I can save others this frustration :)
Thank you 👌
Thanks Gary!
Thank you!!!
