More than likely, Sam Darnold was going to start the first four or five weeks of the season anyway and then they were going to transfer to JJ McCarthy but to have a year to sit and learn and let’s say they win 6 or 8 games with Darnold as the head man I still will consider that a successful year you’ve got Justin Jefferson under contract. Jordan Addison is an awesome addition he doesn’t have to get paid right now. You’ve got a decent defense and you can bring back JJ McCarthy in 2025 I don’t see the problem with any of this. It sucks that it happened to him, but they don’t necessarily fully need him right now.
Yep. This makes 2 of the 2024 draft QB's that won't (and should not) be able to play in the 2024 season -- McCarthy and Travis on the Jets. They'll sit out the year and learn in the background and both will be ready to take over in 2025.

Maybe the vikings could trade for a backup who has been a starter. Joe flacco is a backup, he would fit in really well I think, he's a great qb, he has won a super bowl. So, if you're Minnesota, why not go out, give up a couple draft picks and get a qb who saw some playing time last year and played very well. I'd say whether jj Mccarthy was injured or not, I would have still wanted to bring in a veteran qb, like flacco for a year or two to give jj someone to learn from. Whether it's joe flacco or not, the vikings have to make a trade, assuming you want to compete in the division, non of the other qbs on the roster gives you a chance to do that. Joe flacco definitely gives you a chance to compete against the teams in the division and possibly make it in to the playoffs as a wold card.
