Have you ever shopped for car parts? It can be overwhelming and even stressful. There are so many options, and it can be challenging to decide what’s going to work best for your car AND your budget. One of the most common questions we get from our customers has to do with the type of car part they’re shopping - should they buy OEM parts or aftermarket parts?
Let’s talk about the difference between the two first. OEM parts, or Original Equipment Manufacturer parts, are car parts that come from the company that manufactured the car. For example, Genuine Toyota parts come from Toyota. Aftermarket parts are car parts that come from other manufacturers but fit into most vehicles.
So, which is better? It really depends on your individual needs, so we’ll discuss the benefits of both to help you decide.
If you’re shopping for aftermarket car parts to enhance or repair your car, you’ll find that:
• Aftermarket car parts offer a wider selection because they’re not just from on manufacturer. This can make it easier to find the specific part you need at a price you’re willing to pay.
• These car parts are also typically cheaper because they’re not coming from the original manufacturer.
• Aftermarket car parts can also offer just as good of quality as OEM parts - just do your research and look into warranty options.
OEM parts also have perks, including:
• They’re high quality - they’re the same parts that are existing in your vehicle now, so you never have to doubt their reliability. Additionally, most OEM parts come with a warranty of their own.
• They’re easy to find if you have a relatively new vehicle - just visit your dealership and they should be able to order and install the part in no time.
• OEM parts also work with warranties and typically won’t void your car’s warranty if you install them.

"theyre the same parts that are in your vehicle now so you dont have to doubt their reliability" well if they were reliable, I wouldnt be looking at this video to know if I should buy oem or aftermarket for the oem part that wasnt reliable and failed. if the oem part failed, who then invest more money that will down the line fail again. if its going to fail, just buy aftermarket
