So grateful
Angie Macchione thank you!
Thnx!!!!
thank you!!
I didn’t even realize that this was a predominately female driven channel until it was mentioned that ~90% of the viewers are women. As a onsite construction engineer who does MMA, it is refreshing to watch and learn in this audience from this channel. Onward and Upward everyone!
Hi! 🤗
Most of the guys i know have zero interest in self improvement (and awful finances). Or like bootcamp motivation where the videos yell at you.
Paul!👍🏼
I didn't notice either. I think that's a good thing; they have great, experience-based advise for everyone!
Welcome!!
The Monday mindset is such a valid point. I'm an elementary teacher and my morning duty is to stand and monitor one of the main hallways of the school (for safety, behavior, reorient lost substitutes, etc). Every Monday, I wave at each student who walks by and I say "Happy Monday!" in the same way that I used to say "Happy Friday!" A few were confused by the switch at the beginning of the year, but it's January and I now get so many "Happy Monday!"s in reply. It has made a huge difference in my and the students' disposition for those 15-20 minutes! Before I began this practice, it saddened me to see so many 6-10 year-olds overtly despondent in the morning. When I asked why they were so sad, the response was typically "Because it's Monday..." If these are their feelings at 7, what could be expected at 40? Some students ask me why I'm so happy on a Monday and I exclaim "Because I get to see you!" Moods instantly improved: Mindset Matters.
Really inspiring
This is true. I do this at work. People used to be grumpy about it but now they realise it makes them happy
Love this. Especially the "Because I get to see you!" part. You're a great teacher and you make such a difference in these kids lives
Love this. As a parent I want to say thank you for bringing your best every day
I wish all teachers were just a little more like you. Keep being awesome!!
"constantly in a low-grade state of decay" is such a mood
Meal planning and meal prepping for a whole week has changed my life. I cut food expenses by more than half, and I get 5-6 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Meal prepping is like a keystone habit for me. If I meal prep, I eat well. Eating well causes me to exercise more. Which leads to better sleep and energy in the morning. Causing steady productivity, socialness and creativity. 100% will recommend!
Yes!! I eat many more veggies when I meal prep 😊
Sounds real good
words of wisdom
"Low grade state of decay" damn that hit hard

I hear you; truth hurts sometimes
bruh on some real shit lmaooooo
Most of my furniture and household items are secondhand. It not only saves me tons of money but also makes me feel good about sparing the environment, even if inconsequential.
5:22 “I *should* be going [to pilates] more regularly.” I feel that saying “I should” feels more dreadful than “I want.” When I say that “I want” to do something (e.g. exercise), it feels less like a chore and I feel like I am more in control of my life. It’s a tip a I got form a stress management book :) I just wanted to stop there to comment this. So far I’m loving the video, though!
Diana Duran - thanks love that change
I do that with dance. I actually stop myself when I say 'I should', take a minute to evaluate and then say 'no, I WANT to go to dance' because I know I want to go and I enjoy it immensely. It's usually when I've come back from a holiday and getting back into the routine can be really hard. Takes about two weeks for me to stop accidentally saying I should.
My psychology teacher always said "don't should on yourself." Because it mentally blocks your growth mindset by turning it into an expectation and not a learning experience.
1. Batch cooking.
2. Pilates - aka some kind of exercise.
3. Saturday morning cleaning session.
4. Reviewing purchases.
5. Making a mood board.
6. Sunday evening prep for the next week.
I clean my home everyday and come home to a very relaxing vibe after a chaotic work day. I love having everything organized
I have 5 young kids. I sweep my home more than 10 times a day. A maid once a week would be pointless. It is a constant battle to keep my home walkable.
Yeah I like organizing things too.
Aisha Abdi I used to live with my sister, and she had 3 kids, what I do is simple, teach them to do their beds, little things matters, it doesn’t have to be the entire home, sometimes just even an organized bedroom and or living room is enough. ☺️ kids are helpful and sometimes I even tell my nieces and nephews to clean up their toys and stash them away, I help them do it, we all do it together. Since I’ve moved out, I noticed that even if their living room is messy their bedrooms are clean ☺️ start small you might be surprised 😊
I do some form of cleaning every day! I too love having my home space organized :)
@@k700i The older 3 help but the 4 and 2 year olds are the messy ones. I used to keep up with 3 but after 4 things started to feel impossible to keep up to the level of clean I expected.
Pro Tip: Prep your clothes for the whole week. I'm talking everything down to your damn underwear hung up in your closet - or if a viable option, the place where you dress (ie: the bathroom, the bedroom, or your kitchen if that really works for you). It saves not only time, but a crazy amount of mental energy.
Lavinia de Mortalium thanks for the tip!
The mental energy is so worth noting. Especially when the shoulder seasons come and the weather is way more variable, I always appreciate the times past me looked at the forecast and planned accordingly
I love the idea of having a place in my closet, or a separate small closet, with the whole week’s worth of outfits all hung up. In my case this would also mean having exercise clothes set out along with any needed event or eve clothes. I have often seen a small piece of furniture for menswear called a “valet” ...Not sure the ones I have seen would work for me but I am going to see if I can adapt one for my purposes. I need to include jewelry, scarves, bags, hosiery, etc. Even just having a single hook on the back of the door with a beautiful padded hanger would be enough for the next day’s clothes.
Same! I wait till college-prep items go on clearance, so I have a mini closet. I even keep store hangers since they hook on each other & can easily make a days worth of clothes & accessories into an all-in-1 package!
It also saves turning on an iron every day. Plus if you have laid out clothes on Sunday night, even if you wake up with a headache or late you still have ready clothes and only need to worry about aspirin and showering. Also keeping your bags and shoes organised saves time
Chelsea and Lindsay being friends is so perfect I can hardly stand it. They are both sharp-witted, no-bullshit badasses. Looking forward to January!
I like to clean on Friday nights. It's enjoyable to wake up in a clean home on Saturday, and to enjoy breakfast without worrying about the dirty dishes or anything. :)
I’m a stay at home mom of school aged children. Mondays are my favorite days.
I hear you, same here and I work weekends so mondays are my rest and re-set days.
I have worked in the Hospitality and Food Industry for 16 yrs now I find myself in the Finance Industry, I have refused so HARD to have the Sunday Scarys that i have trained myself to A) not count the minutes down to Friday (The sentence TGIF depresses me) and B) I start my week calendars on Saturday. Saturday and Sundays are all about clening, excercise, hiking and writing so why not start with what I love, work will always be second in my life. And thats how I dont get the Sunday Scarys because Monday/Tuesday is the middle of the week for me.
“How to make a mood board and uses for it” - please
A good beginner tip to becoming tidy is just to make your bed every day. And if that's not manageable in the beginning (bc some days, I'm late and making a bed isn't my priority) make it on your days off. Actually _enjoy_ your room when you're home.
I have discovered that as long as I don't eat out on Mondays, I continue to do pretty well throughout the week!
There's Church Sunday morning , that for me makes the week go better, and Sunday evening too. Good video .
Chelsea, could you please do a video, or a post on “mood boards” for frivolous expenses? :)
Same! Are we talking Pinterest? Bc that’s all I can imagine.
“Quite frankly, often, the time between you and and a frivolous purchase is just a couple of hours for your cortisol level or whatever to go down “
You’re dishing up reality checks like the big sister I never had
There is a difference between being tidy and being clean. One can be one and not be the other. But being tidy does make it easier to be clean.
Mary Temple yes. I LOVE keeping things tidy and organized in my house but I HATE cleaning! I of course do the cleaning but probably not as often as I should but it isn’t enjoyable... but like my mother told me, if you keep your place tidy it gives the appearance of being clean!! She was a genius 😉
Idk I thought being tidy was a part of being clean
@@marleee.2174 - oh no.
Mary Temple can you please explain the difference?
Wow! That blue colour of the couch is something else!
I know, right! Love the jewel toned blue!
My routine that saves me time, and money.
Dishes done as they are used
Save leftover coffee for the next day.
Prep my food as much ahead as possible.
After we eat, pack up leftovers and freeze for another time
Put groceries away right when i get home
Same with laundry.we use a laundromat, and i take a few seconds extra to pair up socks
Have a set, specific, easily accessible place for keys
If you usually carry a bag with you when youre out, have what you need in bag,by door, ready to go.
School,or work ,pack lunches for week ahead, label which lunch is for which person.
Invest in insulated lunch bags, ziplock baggies, tupperware.
If food comes in plastic container, save those containers. Makes great tupperware for passing food gifts.
rochelle thundercloud What is a laundromat? Also, thank you for sharing! I found this very helpful
Time saver for pairing socks - LARGE safety pins. When you take off the socks, pin them together before tossing them into the laundry. They wash just as well and are already paired for use. This is especially good if you have socks that are similar but different enough not to go together.
Leftover coffee???? Ughhhh!!!! 🤮
Leftover coffee is nasty...
Diana Duran it's a business with coin-operated clothes washers & dryers. People use them if they don't have those machines in their homes (or if those machines are broken). Maybe they call them "launderette" where you live? In the US we call them "laundromats"
Love this chanel. The way I give i to my “shopping crave” is to go on Wish for example. Browse, put things in my basket. And that is it. Wish is great because they have everything and a lot, A LOT of items that make me question what they are for. I never checkout anything. The next time I am there it tells me I still have some left over items. I then check those and question why I put them in the basket in the first place. 😉 Same “thrill” as I get from shopping, but without the financial burden or having unnessecary things show up. When I am in a real brick and mortar store and I want to purchase something, I take a moment and invision myself coming home with it. Where will I put it? I end up putting it back. Sometimes checking the price and feel like I saved money. Just this little trick made me avoid buying things I don’t need.
Yesss Saturday morning cleaning! My house has weekly chores “due” Sunday night, which makes Sunday more stressful if you procrastinate on everything. But a Saturday morning cleaning always feels so fulfilling, and I end up cleaning my room too, because it’s hard to stop with communal areas. Like you said, it’s easy to do nothing on saturdays because it’s a “me-day.” But cleaning with no time restraint is so relaxing now
It is so smart to cook in bulk! I keep making food for each meal because I love fresh food but it has been exhausting and has led to a lot of takeaway. Thank you for the tip!
Nina Thomas you can always prep ingredients if you prefer fresh food! Cutting up vegetables or pre-measuring ingredients a good way to save time ☺️
@@misspeaches1144 yes. Very true. Prepping your ingredients only makes cooking time like 10-30min max depending on whether its stove top or oven food during the week.
You sound just like the logical, reasonable voice inside my head. Thus watching you strengthens that voice, increasing the chance that I'll actually listen to it over all the others :-)
When she said, “your body is no longer in a low grade state of decay” I loled at my desk
The Fly Lady system of cleaning is excellent...15 to 20 minutes each day in focused areas. I recommend it. The clean, shiny sink is definitely worth it!
Food prep is such a stress reliever! We like to break up our cleaning throughout the week - Tuesday is for the bathroom, Thursday is the bedroom, etc. For us, it makes our spaces tidier and prevents a giant list of cleaning from forming and then feeling bad about it/avoiding it all together.
Congrats on the new space and settling in! Excited to see what comes next. With your current set-up, it does seem like the lamp is sprouting from your head.
OMG ITS LINDSAY ELLIS
Rida Fatima MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!!
I KNOW!!! I just squeaked a little!!!!
Yes it is !
Love your vids! Can we see what a mood board looks like?
I'm just gonna slap a, "God bless this mess" sign on the wall and call it a day.
Pilates is amazing!!! I wish I could take a class 3 times a week, I go once cause of the price. There are always home pilate workouts!!
"An ottoman in the shape of a yak" :D Reviewing my purchases is probably the most important AND most difficult ritual for me.
Most of the content on these videos isn't applicable to me, but this one... this one was perfect. I mostly watch because I admire how dedicated younger Millenials are to finding their own path and the process intrigues me, but this one, in particular, was most helpful to me as I suss out my goals for 2020. Thanks!
I keep a list of things I want to buy and home projects to tackle. I put my change in a jar as well as abt. $5 a week. I then use it for those items and projects. I have bought a bathroom dresser with that money, put up shelving, fixed my closet, bought a "writing," club chair, and top down blinds. Also I do not use cc or debit cards except online. I find I wasn't concious of the money I was spending. I use cash only while out and about. It lets me see the money dwindling. and if I am spending too much I can adjust. Like if spending too much then I'll make sandwiches for lunch for the rest of the week if for some reason I have not cooked or will stay home more or something. I also roast a chicken and make some sort of casserole every sunday. At work for lunch I'll buy a salad and/or sides to go with it. These little things have helped a great deal.
Lost it when you said “flex on the ‘Gram” completely un-ironically. 🤣
The "Sunday" one's my favorite. Love!
Staying super busy keeps me happy and away from doing something stupid. Also anticipating my needs with my coffee thermos and and crockpot 👌🏾
Agree with you on the coffee...
Good Stuff ☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕
Crockpots are a gift from the gods lol. It is so nice to come home and have dinner ready.

Oh yes.. warm delicious food in ya belly..🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘🍳🍳🍳
So excited to see more of Lindsay!!
Omg I feel so understood. I practice a lot of similar things. My friends think I'm nuts, but this actually keeps me sane. lol! Here is my list. I struggle with OCD and anxiety, but this makes me feel better. :)
1) Make my bed + quick prayer every morning
2) Laundry/Deep Cleaning Session = Saturday Morning! I always create a long playlist that I look forward to listening. Plus, light candles!
3) Iron Clothes/Prep Outfits for the week = Sunday's
4) Week Nights = prep lunch.
5) ONE professional facial every month
6) Review Personal Finances (varies, I constantly update my grid/notebook).
For 2020, I really want to improve my physical health and find a workout class/routine that works for me.
Also, I just subscribed :)
Exercise. I find it easiest to do it first thing, still in pyjamas, with a DVD or UA-cam video. Cheap and convenient. No traffic or weather barriers. One shower, no fancy outfits, no excuses.
Me 2. I do 1st thing in the a.m. Just 20 mins abt 4x a week, but I have lost weight. In my pajamas I just start moving.
I have a dog that jumps on me at 5 am. It mean we go outside where we live. Before we would bike snd run to 40 Below. We moved to the hills now where it only get down to 20 Below.
@@pagesculptor you bike in freezing weather, no excuse for me then
I need to start cooking in bulk this year. That alone would save me 2500 more this year 💵💵💵.
Same. I want to buy in bulk & cook in bulk. That combined with intermittent fasting, I want to lose weight & save cash.
Speak on it !
I really love this channel, you're what I'm grateful for this year ☺️
This is a really great video! You simplified some great ideas, I'm feeling more hopeful now, thank you.
This is an awesome list! Thank you for your candid approach! Hope you love your new space! Happy new year!
Let's be real: as much as it takes time and effort to do consistently, working out is a lot cheaper than medical bills, and (done properly) will go a fair distance in lowering the latter in the long run.
Thank you Chelsea, this is so accurate! I literally do all the things you did.. looking forward to include these rituals in my life 🤗
Congratulations on your new place! Great way to start your new year.
_Same!_ I wait till college-prep items go on clearance, so I have a mini closet. I even keep store hangers since they hook on each other & can easily make a days worth of clothes & accessories into an all-in-1 package!
You are truely inspiring Chelsea! Thank you for sharing your life and knowledge ❤️
I relate to the yack ottoman purchase. I purchased an ottoman the shape of a cow. Took me a year to open the box and I realized it didn’t fit my decor. Luckily, I looks great in my grandson’s room.
Love Lindsay so much! I can’t wait for this.
I see quite a few comments that believe the video is a waste of time and would just like the points, instead of explanations. The explanations give realistic examples of how to make those changes.
Literally everything you said about cleaning is so true. Sometimes my bedroom is really messy and I can't stand it, cleaning makes me feel really loved. I'm actually doing it for me, so I can live in a tidy and cute place for the next week.
oh my! lindsay, Im so excited for this!
This is now my favorite of your videos. Thanks!
Very good and practical advice. Thank you for sharing.
Wow this was wonderful. Thanks!!
As always the team comes through with great advice thank you so much! If I may make a suggestion, and please tell me to kick rocks at any time... I would lower the picture behind you for filming. The balance is off and its a little distracting. Again thank u so much for all the effort you put into ur content!
I can relate to the emotional and boredom spending! Thank you for being so honest :)
Yay! I love Lindsay! So excited for this January collab! 😍😍
Chelsea, thank you for making this video. Honestly, it's the video I needed to watch. I'm in the process of buying my first house, and I'm getting ready to move. It' the start of a new decade! I feel like I'm moving on to the next chapter in my life. I want to become I a better me. That means cooking more at home, exercising regularly, cleaning more regularly, and getting more serious about my finances. I didn't know how much I needed to see this video until I saw it.
Am I the only one who looked up the “ottoman shaped like a Yak”. 🤣
Great video! I already do half of them so will try the others in 2020-thanks Chelsea!
I loved this video! It was amazing! I also can't believe that I thought I was the only one who felt down on Sunday nights up until now. Thank you so much for the great advice!
OMG HAI LINDSAY! I'm beyond surprised and stoked.
Thank you so much for sharing! Very relevant content. I don't know if this is different from other videos or if I'm sensitive to this today, but I found the frequent change in zoom and clipping together very distracting and a bit stressful. I ended up having to just listen to the episode. Congratulations on the move!
Yay very insightful, especially the part where you talked a about regular exercise. It's fine to skip when your young, but it can strongly affect your health at any age.
I just screamed my excitement at my frightened husband whose only reply was “who is that and what is that”
I can relate.
I love this! What a fabulous video... the best advice
Having a set routine is amazingly freeing for my mind. I feel like I can finally make some other decisions.
So excited for Lindsay's episodes! I have been a fan of hers since her Nostalgia Chick days.
I started a new job last month and took a week off before hand to do a huge clean of the flat and an epic chuck out of pointless clothing and crap from my bedroom. I have a Bedroom floor for the 1st time in My Life and I have found that scheduling time aka creating rituals is the Best coping mechanism I've ever had for my ADHD& the associated anxiety I experience. Helping me learn German too.
Been using M&T for my business for 3 years now and they have been incredible. Really happy to see them supporting TDF!
@9:47 "There is basically no limit to the amount of crap I can justify buying."
My stock response to being told I am a horder or "Why did you buy that?" is
"Collector and curator."
But even those items are marked for culling but after selling or otherwise the other stuff boxed up ready to sell. How is that going? Work in progress :)
Love this episode. Not on instagram. Maybe add an apartment tour at the end of an episode? That would be fun. Happy New Year!
Thank you so much
I enjoyed that one! I’ll try batch cooking Monday nights and I decided to clean portions of the home each day to avoid cleaning all day Saturday!
This is a crossover I didn't expect but absolutely needed
meal prepping yeuuuuuup!!! That's a good one
This has been very helpful.
Funnily enough in the last month or so I've started doing or working towards some similar routines! I'm waiting for my next paycheck and I'm going to join a gym near my house that also has an indoor pool. (Financially, I just had a regular debit stop that was about equal cost, so it even works that way too) I plan on going every night after work. Last year my after work routine was going to McDonald's and eating it while watching a video. I've already started home bodyweight routines as placeholders while I develop the habit.
In that vein, I've started cooking brown rice once a week to last me the week, then I steam veggies which only takes a few minutes to have with it and maybe fry an egg. I'll find more things I like to vary it up eventually.
I'm also using the chores-as-podcast-time trick.
“Such as an ottoman in the shape of a yack” TFD always makes me feel more normal ❤️
I would love a recipe book from you, the food you make looks so delicious
Yehey, I snapped to attention when you said Pilates... I love it too and work out 3x a week. Please, try the reformer and other equipment classes. They are great for resistance and will help strengthen your mat practice. Enjoy!
Awesome video. Also, I'm so excited for the Lindsay Ellis collab. Her interview with Chesley is how I found this channel, which is one of my new favorites.
an ottoman in the shape of a yak killed me. Excellent video !
Great video x
Lindsay!!!! Gonna miss Chelsea in January but I always love to see my favs cross pollenating!
Financial Diet is really handholding me into adulthood 💛
Thank you
Loved this video! Can you do some recipe videos for batch cooking?
I would like to see an example of a mood board! I’ve never done one before! First time viewer and I liked your video!
True!
Cleaning doesn't feel like a chore. Its exercise, liberating and peace/relaxation inducing environment. 😌😉😊
Low grade state of decay...ow. Great upload btw! Link to the Ottoman shaped like a yak please? I didn’t know I needed to frivolously purchase one but now I do.
