BB comes across as more bitter here, whereas the other performance isn't. He even discusses expectations of the 1st male "First Lady", also hilarious.
Depends on how you define "liberal." They're pretty anti-immigration and culturally parochial too. I actually blame Bill here (I'm a huge fan of his btw) because his delivery is just off. He does a much better version of this bit elsewhere.
I mean that's because the "stereotypical ghost" is the least realistic form of all. Most people on this planet believe in souls and life beyond death, but not like that lmao. The most credible form of ghost/spirit would be one that has to be called upon/summoned and even then it's not some physical semi-transparent beings and it can't move around or fly though walls etc. Like the entire concept of a ghost or spirit, is a soul without a body so obviously it would only be able to contact/interact with your soul. It could maybe affect your body indirectly and cause you to see and hear things like hallucinations or visions. And so the furthest a haunting can go in my opinion would be like a place in which someone or lot of people died and suffered horribly which has a lasting "spiritual impact." But it's not like some kind of living fantasy being that can move through walls and just lives there all day. "Real ghosts" would be the fact that most people probably wouldn't feel very comfortable or maybe even sleep soundly in a place like Auschwitz even if they were somehow unaware of what happend there most people would at the very least be uncomfortable. I'd say that's 90% or more what makes a place "actually" haunted. Whereas contacting the dead straight up is whole different story, you'd be connecting to "the realm of the dead" it's not like the dead actually still reside here, on top of that pretty much all information no matter from what culture agrees on that "the dead should be left alone" you know "RIP", "The dead know nothing". Personally I think it's equally ignorant and irrational to not believe in even "the potential" of anything supernatural at all. after all, all we know about the world is based primarily on our 5 extremely limited and easy to fool senses. Just like it's dumb to say "aliens don't exist" I'd say it's just as dumb and even arrogant to say "All supernatural things are BS" It's chronological snobbery, you can't just discount the billions of humans who came before you just because they came before you. It's also just irrational in various other ways especially from a scientific point of view if you just talk about the probability of there existing anything we'd consider supernatural. Most sane scientist would probably say "yes" , quite simply because science has only proven time and time again that we know nothing. So other dimensions and realities overlapping our own is highly likely from a scientific point of view even if just in theory. Just as alien life "somewhere in existence be it an alternate space, time or both" seems highly likely. Beings existing on more than a single plane of existence is also far from being illogical or irrational. And even though we mostly seem to understand the basics of death in our physical plane of existence, doesn't mean we could possibly claim to deny anything beyond that. Humanity should always be thought of as a Frog in a Well that does not know the ocean. Maybe it can be heard, smelled, or even salt may end up in the well. But the frog does not truly know the ocean yet neither can it simply deny the existence of anything outside of the well. The only way to know would be for someone to die (no brain activity) and then comeback and well there's only one credible account of that happening in all history and it started a world religion so... At the very least staying rationally open-minded would be a wise choice which is actually where Bill Burr is kind of at in his life right now. He's got a wife and kids and sure he's kind of become a conspiracy theorist when it comes to philosophy but I say "screw it" at least he's thinking.
He's got another version where he talks about Michelle Obama on this same topic but it was funnier. Better done. I'm sad this is the one you guys watched. Hopefully you guys can find and watch that other one.
