  • Honeywell Thermostat 5.2 Models RTH2300B and RTH221B can be a challenge to open, to access the batteries. ( My thermostat is UPC Code 085267406123. These models of Honeywell thermostats use two AAA alkaline batteries. ) In this video, the thermostat has already been mounted to the wall. So, the process is somewhat different from opening this thermostat, if it has yet to be installed. To see how I opened the brand new thermostat, you could click the following link: • New 5.2 Honeywell RTH2...

    It didn't help me. My problem was with inserting the batteries. Does the two pluses go together or what. I didn't notice when I took the batteries out. Next time don't forget steps.

      I'm sorry the video wasn't helpful. It's possible another video I made regarding this thermostat might prove itself to be more helpful. If you skip to 1:47 on ua-cam.com/video/YXSfM8WSzBw/v-deo.html for several seconds you'll be able to see which way the batteries align. I hope this helps. Thank you for commenting, and for the constructive criticism, too!

      Also, I've made a third video about this thermostat. It's link is at ua-cam.com/video/j2WR9ibhdqo/v-deo.html The orientation of the batteries are best viewed during the 30-second segment which begins at 11:30 on that video. It's possible that portion of that video might also prove helpful for you. Best wishes!

      If youre just asking about battery orientation, yes the positive sign on the battery goes to the positive sign on the casing, and same with negative sign...(but all batteries are oriented like that)

    I am a 73 year old woman. I used the information from your video several years ago. It was so simple to follow I saved it in case I would ever need it again. Today I did. I had no digital readings so assumed I needed a new set. I bought one but didn't open it and then I watched your video again. Oops, maybe it was just the batteries. I had forgotten that factor. Sure enough, easy once again to open and I put in new batteries. Returned the other unit. Just wanted to thank you. :)

    was quicker but he forced the bottom up and similar with the top. It didn't seem right. You never force electric units. Your way works and it works fine. Thanks so much.

    Thanks for providing the model number. Now I can search online for the user manual. My thermostat is the same make and model. The battery power was low. And I found it very difficult to remove the cover plate from the backing plate. Because the thermostat slightly lifted on one side since it's not completely snug on the wall. Nice work! I am having an issue with true lower portion fully engaging and clicking flush in place. The pins engage and the system works, but it’s a few mm from
    Full closure. There is a bit of corrosive building on the lower pike and I’m wondering if that is blocking it. I didn’t want to force too much. Or could it maybe be the lower hinges coming free that you mentioned at the end?

Thank you for commenting! And, question having been asked: It seems I just happened-upon the gift, unsought, in a passive manner, through free-form feedback, as seems an excellent way to have found it; I highly recommend such interplay.

    • @isntajerk
      @isntajerk  7 років тому +2

      3:08 to 5:05 could be very important to many viewers. It is one example of why I not only advocate watching entire videos, but also, I advocate finding as many videos as can be found, relative to a particular project, before attempting the project. Still, yes, if UA-cam videos had a compromise between "Thumbnail" and "Full Video," such as "Brief Summary of Video," then the spot to which you point would make an excellent "Brief Summary." Thank you for commenting!
