Here's the picks for my first berserker build... 1 = Kitava's Hungering Cry 2 = Kitava's Embrace 3 = Ancestral Vengeance 4 = Arn's Bruality Big Exerted Slams fishing for those triple Brutal Strikes doubling the chance from the Ancestral Vengence Procs. Kitava's Embrace offering a lot of survivability and temp life from Kitava's Hungering Cry helping to bolster us whilst at low life. What's yours?
Some neat ideas, definitely could halve the numerical values on some of these and still be strong, especially the travel nodes. This feels more like a tree where we only get 2 ascendancy nodes rather than 4. Had some thoughts about -a few nodes- while watching: [vv TLDR; vv] *South Trio* : I think the 0.2/rage hp degen should only be on v *Undying Rage* : Gain 10% of Maximum Rage per second if you have been hit recently, Lose 0.2% Life per second per Rage while not on Low Life, While at maximum Rage 10% of life loss from damage taken occurs over 4 seconds instead ((As far as I am aware, charges are merely a consumable combo resource for empowering skills in poe 2 and doesn't really lend itself to the name given to this node. A mini Petrified Blood/Progenesis effect seems more suitable here, rewarding and mitigating taking damage in particular at low life.)) *Deepening Rage* : Your Maximum Rage is increased by 50%, 15% reduced Maximum Life ((slight adjustment. Bigger hits from scaling the usual flat rage sources at the cost of less durability, a bit of "Aspect of Carnage" meets "Ming's Heart". This, as well as the other trio nodes would be intended as a potential combo for an altered *Ancestral Vengeance*.)) *Seething Rage* : Reserve 1% of Maximum Life for every 2% of Maximum Rage you have. Every 5 Rage grants 6-12 Physical Damage(( idk about the flat phys number, but this is pretty ok. Caps at 50% life reserve while leaving room for more scaling.)) *Berserker's Trance* : ((I think it would be simplest for this to just be "Skills that use the Weapon in Set I gain 2% increased Critical Strike Chance per rage, Skills that use the Weapon in Set II gain 1% increased Attack Speed per rage" rather than coding some unique pseudo skill with unique UI interactions. Or just like... "You are in Wrath Stance when using Weapon Set I" etc. Probably fine.)) *Kitava's Hunger* : ((I'm not sure what to say here, seems way too strong. Ward is the only thing that would work here, capping at like 5% life as ward, but ward doesn't really fit lorewise either.)) *Kitava's Embrace* : ((No. Just no D: it's too much lol. I thought of something else.)) Every 4 seconds Gain an Arm of Kitava (maximum 2). Your Strike skills target an additional enemy for each Arm of Kitava you have. When you would take a Savage Hit, lose 1 Arm of Kitava to block that hit. Each Arm reduces your Low Life threshold by 5%. ((Kitava wants in on that action. However, being dead, his spectral arms cannot block unblockable hits, if those are in poe2 as well. If they aren't, well, this doesn't work. too stronk.)) *Kitava's Thirst* : ((20% chance for full instant leech is kinda crazy alone (20% chance to gain 20% life on hit, which also scales with maximum total leech passives. nutty). The low life leech effect is unnecessary here.)) *Ancestral Vengeance* : On reaching Maximum Rage, your next melee attack will consume all Rage to become exerted by an Ancestral Spirit. Ancestral Spirit doubles the effect of Rage. ((ie. with a max rage of 70, capping rage makes next melee attack treated as 140 rage. More max rage, more damage, longer buildup. On taking vengeance your rage dissipates, leaving you hollow and empty. And then you start hitting things again to fill the void with more rage. Melee only, we B zerkers here. I think it would also be better as a secondary node coming off the South Trio, next to Berserker's Trance in a ^ shape, they would be suitable as a prerequisite for such a powerful node.)) *Arn's Brutality* : ((Me likey, pending one alteration)) Skills have a 10% chance per Brutal Charge to consume all Brutal Charges and deal Triple damage ((Kind of a mix between original effect and this one. Increased chance until you proc it, then build up again, I'd say it pairs well with *Ancestral Vengeance* but would need more investment than currently shown to have both.)) *Blood of the First Karui* : ((This falls a little flat given all the other options, I'd probably trim this out to keep the node total in line with the usual GGG counts (7-8 nodes).)) *Masochism* : ((Maybe? Honestly not sure about this one. Feels like it would be better as a unique item.)) --------------------------------------- Bit of fun theory crafting, can't wait to see what the real ascendancies are going to be. For this one though I'd probably go Kitava's Embrace - Undying Rage - Ancestral Vengeance - Kitava's Thirst/Berserker Trance I like the idea of a dual flail berserker with spectral arms smashing things. Wish they'd show us some flail skills soon.
11:49 something i want to bring up- i dont know if small percentage chances to deal extra damage is balanced in poe2 the same way it is in poe1. in poe1, most builds just spam the same skill, so having a 10% chance to deal triple damage just gives an average of 30% more damage. however, we know that in poe2, you are encouraged to use a variety of skills, some of which will do more damage than others. This means that 10% chance to deal triple damage could make your damage feel inconsistent, especially against bosses. Some people might like this, but I feel like I would like for my damage to be more consistent. one way to balance this would be to, instead of having a 10% chance, having a countdown (eg every 10th skill you use whilst having a brutality charge will consume a brutality charge to do 3x damage). This would allow you to do setups that allow you to get 1 huge hit in (for example the equivalent of power charges on monk) and also removes the inconsistency of damage. just an idea, idk though
I've been working my way through all of these today and they have all been stellar. The art and polish on the presentation is amazing. The mechanical design might be getting my hopes up. Lol. Keep it up, mate!

I don't play these kinds of builds or melee in general but I love the thought process behind these ascendancies. I'll have to look back and find the other ones you've done for the Sorceress, Monk, and Mercenary. I know you did a couple with Tri but I didn't watch it thoroughly. These are awesome!

Another thematic W. I like the idea of more power being allocated on the ascendancies and potentially unique gear while less on the skill tree. Obviously, as you pointed out it would require a lot of balancing work from the dev team but awesome creative work overall dude, keep it up.

Because of this I suspect they will need to give a couple more options on each as not to make everyone’s options feel the same to play if that makes sense?
Ascendancy flavour text is perfect! I would be playing Berserker RF... Kitava's Hungering Cry node for doubling my life and corpse removal. Arn's Brutality so I can turn on and off RF until I get permanent triple damage. Another banger
Haha ok so going to need to stop that node from snapshotting! That would be some janky gameplay right there. Unless RF is no longer permenant. I’ve got a feeling that they’re going to do something with RF that makes sit power up based on some other skill comboing. What’s your guess?
How do you feel about dual wielding nodes somewhere on here? I think masochism is my favourite node for some reason, lol, seems like an easy way (personally) to set-and-forget some defence or debuffs. Probably a bit too strong and I think a downside makes sense like you mentioned. Ancestral vengeance (AV) may be bonkers with enraged blow but we’d also have to see the marauder skills. I could also see picking AV only if you plan on 2-h with big chunky slams otherwise it might be underwhelming with 1-handed attacks with the 4 second CD.
Hey, so I think you’re right that some kind of DW altering element could be good. Perhaps battle trance couple be applied on a per weapon basis somehow rather than just weapon set. For AV I think having it fixed can kind of help with making you want to think about using a specifically but skill in in that window when needed, like dual strike or something using a two handed in your second slot for example. Oh and agreed have added a draw back to masochism now :)
I was interested in the nodes "Seething Rage", "Kitava's Embrace", "Blood of the First Karui" but most of all I was intrigued by "Arn's Brutality". Like this type of gameplay.

Valkyrie is such a popular one I have heard a lot, someone from the US sent me a design they did a long time ago which I made my own version of. I think Valkyrie might have to make the cut :)
Im really, like REALLY, hope that in poe2 GGG will get rid of small nodes. It feels not so cool to spend rare nodes on the travel path. Im already has hundred small ones from the main tree, let me please in my Ascendancy do not do that. One "lab" - one point.
Interesting, I had thought the same thing, however im finding with these that they can serve a good function in cleaning up the text on the larger nodes by taking smaller bonuses and putting them there. For example say there’s a necro ascendancy about summoning skeletons, having added spirit would be nice but seems a little repetitive to add that to the bottom of every large node. I hear you though it would also be a little more elegant overall to just have 1 point for each ascendancy. Who knows they might do something completely out of left field :)
Im a lover of berserker archetype and playing with this archetype and only this in every single game. noice job with that kitava and temporary life. I hate how everything in poe 1 is about magic and conversions. I like idea of temporary 100% of life. btw. Do you using any program for that? how you doing that custom trees? also your trees are to much powerful. Really much, much. I guess it cannot be realistic taken as an idea. They are really to op.
Glad you’re digging it, I really like the Karui lore so feels right to show it off as much as possible. Felt like a good fit. All the work is done in a program called Figma I use for design work.

I think the devs over at GGG have just worked really hard to not let anything slip through the net (as best they can) in terms of quality. They said in the last Ziggy interview that they are willing to rework anything and put in extra time to make something better. It helps they have a genius graphics engineer on their team who is literally pioneering new render technology too :)
