See the game had a deep and complex message that barely anyone realize because after every struggle between your comrades and compatriots the main characters realizes it’s fine when they do it
to some people, we are defined by our skin color and our sexuality. to other people, we prefer to focus on character traits that actually matter.

Without a preexisting IP to hide behind, this game was a direct representation of themselves. That's why the criticism is taken so personal. They see it as a rejection of themselves.

Same thing with authors and their Mary Sue (self insert). They'll write a character that's an idealized version of themselves. They have no flaws and go through no change. When you criticize the self insert, it's seen as criticizing the author.

The Main Character in Dustborn is a text book Narcissistic Sociopath, who manipulates everyone around them. Who also has severe control issues, with a violent temper, that causes them to lash out and attack even people that are supposed to be friends, when they disagree with them. Sounds "really fun" to play "Right"?
I don't doubt them when they say that someone out there hates them. That's true no matter who you are. They're not exactly special when they say "someone out there hates us."

I want to remind people of something important. Quantic Dream the publisher is the same company ran by an actual creep. As during the production of Beyond: Two Souls in order to get mo cap of the protagonist taking a shower. They had to film a then pre transition Eliot Page in the shower, who was under age at the time. I don't remember if this is correct but still the fact that David Cage is still in the industry is still fucked up.
They also fully modeled her naked body despite not needing to for a shower scene, and let's not forget that David Cage once said "All women in my games are whores."

In the backstory of Dustborn's world, Kennedy survived the assassination, but his wife was killed instead. He remarried Marilyn Monroe, and together, they became a dictator couple.
A simple search would tell you that Monroe HATED right leaning politics, and very openly left and liberal. She was pro-Civil Rights Movement, pro-equality for all pro-LGBT before that was even an established term... As for Kennedy, he was a Democrat, and by today's political standards, would be considered centrist, but at the time, was very much left-leaning. Most importantly though, Kennedy fought in WWII as the captain of a torpedo boat. He fought fascist governments, so why would he create one when his big motivations came from eradicating them?
The game's own history does not make sense, and this is because some Norwegians who don't know US history or culture got paid by two different governments to make a game that takes a dump on US history and culture.

Because they’re good, fun, and nonpolitical games. Also sexy and sex sells. Dustborn and Concord are proud of featuring genuinely ugly ppl and actively attacking more than half of the population. Do all of that and no wonder you get negative attention and low player count.
They fail to realize that people aren't nearly as pissed off with dustborn as they would be if it was an existing IP. Those goalposts never moved, because if you look ANYWHERE you'll see people are laughing their asses off over it and very few are actually mad at all.
Looking at the numbers, it seems that not even the staunch supporters of the company and the DEI policies are willing to play the game. Not even the dev's friends.
