- At Cleetus McFarland's LeMullets pre party JH Diesel ran over a van that uncle Chet paid Cleetus for on the spot just to smash it... we all know what happened after that lol. The other day I helped him tow it back to the shop. Will it run though? Today we find out!

Please excuse my ignorance as my only experience with diesels is having work trucks breakdown. Have the glow plugs been checked out and are they getting signal to warm up? Could it just be that the engine is too cold? I know the 6.0 has glow plugs, is there a harness or module that runs that system?

@@Andyspeeder7 I’m in Central Fl, had a 6.0 not start due to a glow plug issue, only reason I know they use them lol. We just called a bigger wrecker and the owner let the dealership take care of it at that company.
@@brandonswitzer6957 I doubt you won't be able to crack without even 1 glow plug working, when the weather is not cold. Usually a healthy diesel compression engine, h\should fire up, only on good compression, without glow plugs being a show stopper. I am still at min 14, so I hope hey start it, but I hear it is cranking, which looks lie the engine didn't hydro locked, where the huge dmage to internals can be done.

It will. Any time you mess with the fuel system on a diesel getting them to fire again is a pain. Everything has to prime and get the right pressure.

check the enertia switch, its what fords have when they get in accidents, stops the engine from turning on to save damaging the engine
You mean the inertia switch, which cuts gas to gasoline engines?

What I'm saying is those are on gas motors. They're a post-pinto design. They all cut the fuel. Most manufacturers have a fuel safety cutoff switch. But ford is the only one that added a button and called it an inertia switch. Its typically passenger side kick panel or the interior quarter on the drivers side, but his is under the passenger side dash above the kick panel. Fords inertia switch is a fuel pump shutoff switch. He has pressure to the rails.. that's my point lol
It has fuel pressure so it's not the switch
On fords it cuts the power to the fuel pump. My guess would be its a problem associated with the new ecm

JH is the shit, I'm just glad no one was hurt, and if anyone can fix the truck it is the guy who built it. I hope JH does not change anything about the way he drives this truck, he knows what he is doing, and sometimes when you push the envelope shit happens, its part of being the best at what you do. Also leave the dents consider it memories of a great night.

Sense the PCM had water in it theres a high chance the FICM has water in it too. Maybe its the video but the injector buzz didn't sound like it was hitting on all 8.

Some of the newer diesels won’t start when jumping the starter. The computer needs to see the crank signal from the key in order for it to fire the injectors.
JH needs to build a deck, like you would have around an above ground swimming pool.
I must say, I don’t know much about JH besides him hanging out with Bruce Wilson and Cleetus, but he seems like a great guy and full of great diesel knowledge! Can’t wait to see more future content with you and JH!!

I rolled my truck in a river and spent 2 months getting it back up and running. Turns out the timing chain had skipped about 40 degree out of timing. It would turn over really well but never tried to fire...maybe they should check there timing marks...
While im no diesel mechanic i would of guessed the glow plugs, obviously JH would of checked them first to see if he could burn his finger HAHA. Cant wait for that 4x4 to run. Hope you do a follow up!

I would have thought everything was shot considering it was under water for a long time. The fact it was pulled out of the lake, fixed a couple things and then went for it is pretty damn cool.
checked the ficm? could still hear the injector do their buzz test when key is cycled but im curious what the voltage is at.
I hope the you also changed all the fluid filters. Had a similar experience many years ago with seawater. Got going again ok, but didn't think to change the engine oil filter, ran all the bearings about 6 weeks later. We assume that the oil filter went into bypass or fell apart sending trash through all the bearings.

I just played a similar game on my F250. But just hard to start. Ran it too low on oil. That screws up the HPOP system so it can't open the injectors properly. Air in the lines. Argh. I finally got it working. After changing all the oil and filters I had to actually get it started and drive it 60 miles. Now it is fine.
I noticed when you were turning the pcm on, it sounds like only 4 or so of the injectors were clicking. Not sure if you have tried swapping FICM yet, but I definitely would at least try. At the very least it didn't click like a tuned ficm, although I only have experience with Goliath ficm tunes.

i think or hope it was not open throttle when it hydro locked (if it did). no time to turn it off so predict if she runs it wont be for longer then a month, not a diesel guy but maybe it died before things got bent or cracked.
also glad you asked questions for us petrol heads. both are motors but the symptoms are slightly different.

trust me it won't take long before you will think it's all natural I was born at Sarasota memorial grew up and spent my whole adult working life in the Bradenton- Sarasota area. I watched so many transplants take to life on the Florida West coast like they were born there as well. it's a different pace from northern life but it's something you will come to love.

There is a rollover switch that would have activated in the truck. Most newer vehicles have them, I would bet that is the issue as when they trip it just stops injection. Man it was such a clean truck change out the panels and put it back to the way it was.
