Duramax intake after 250,000+ miles - how dirty is it?

    glad i live in hawaii where deletes are still allowed 😢 i just did my 06 gmc LBZ and at only 140k miles it already had bad build up in the intake pipes and the heads! crazy how bad it is.

    That plate work the grid is the intake air heater-- if it fails, you may see white smoke.

    Could I just use one of the Sea Foam upper intake cleaner cans with straws work? I know it does miracles for gas engines.

      I don’t know that it will work as well as a thorough cleaning but I would think it would help clean out some of the mess

    Will the EGR re-route help with reducing the build up? Can't delete I'm in California too.

      If you mean the Pcv re-route, yes it will definitely help. I run my pcv to a catch can, then back to the intake. Some vent the pcv to atmosphere that’s just more diesel smell in the cab that I don’t want.

    What a mess....this a perfect example as to why it needs to be deleted..I understand some states tie Your hands on it tho..

    I burned all that off my LLY egr with a propane torch. Unfortunately, I haven't restored it to see if it worked. Can anyone see a reason why not to burn all that off?

      I suppose the only concern I would have about using a torch is warping the metal with heat, but as long as you didn’t get it red hot, I don’t see a reason that wouldn’t work.
