  • Hey Witches! This video is a long time coming lol. I hear/see stuff online about hexing and curses within the witchcraft community. I felt like this topic really deserved it's own video. This is another "fear" people may have about witches that a new witch may encounter.
After watching this video you are going to be armed with more knowledge to handle taking about hexes and curses.
Please always do your own investigating as well, don't just take my word for it. Empower yourself with knowledge and make up your own mind 💜
www.etymonline.com/ find the origin of words and discover their real meaning.
HEXE - 1830, American English, from Pennsylvania German hexe "to practice witchcraft," from German hexen "to hex," related to Hexe "witch," from Middle High German hecse, hexse, from Old High German hagazussa (see hag). Noun meaning "magic spell" is first recorded 1909; earlier it meant "a witch" (1856). Compare Middle English hexte "the devil" (mid-13c.), perhaps originally "sorcerer," probably from Old English haehtis.
CURSE - Middle English Compendium says probably from Latin cursus "course" (see course (n.)) in the Christian sense "set of daily liturgical prayers" extended to "set of imprecations" as in the sentence of the great curse, "the formula read in churches four times a year, setting forth the various offenses which entailed automatic excommunication of the offender; also, the excommunication so imposed."
Anathema - 1520s, "an accursed thing," from Latin anathema "an excommunicated person; the curse of excommunication," from Ecclesiastical Greek anathema "a thing accursed," a slight variation of classical Greek anathama, which meant merely "a thing devoted," literally "a thing set up (to the gods)," such as a votive offering in a temple

Yes, It's so beautiful!! I didn't get too far out of Lond but we took the train and went to many gardens! In Scotland it's "Todays rain is tomorrows whiskey!" I loved that saying while we were there.

Powerful video. I don’t believe in hexes, curses either. That said, using your three reasonings for things that are happening ‘to us’, where would you think it falls when your home is completely destroyed by a weather event? Ours was destroyed in Hurricane Ian and we are literally starting over again going into our 70’s. I’m not sure how to think of what happened to us by framing it in any of the tree ways you discussed. There are other life happenings that have been very devastating through the years in the family and it’s hard to make sense of some of them using the three ideas. How would you go about rationalizing it to yourself?

Oh Linda, I am sorry you had to experience so many devastating events. I cant speak on what it must fell like losing everything and starting over. I have lost things that were absolutely devastating. I watch my sister lose a lot from Hurricane Ian also. Here are the mantras I repeat about these events when I feel the pain coming over me. 1. We take nothing with us when we go. 2. Stuff is just stuff, our memories are what we need to say out loud and retell to each other. 3. What new skill did I learn from this event in my life. 4. Be grateful everyday for the present moment, it could get worse. I forgive myself for mistakes. This is a big one. We didn't leave for Ian and fled our house in the beginning of the storm. I had not prepared to leave everything. I lost most of my childhood belongings that traveled the world with me for the 25 years. Electronic that weren't backed up- all the picture of my son as a baby. It was a lot. Cameryn is still here and I make memories with him, thats I deal with that loss. I am also much more series about backing up photos! lol.
I hope you find something helpful in my words. Maybe we could meet for lunch or coffee sometime soon? We aren't that far from each other are we?
