One of the best voices in music, years ago, every song Cummings sang was fabulous & outstanding! American Woman & These Eyes are the songs that got his singing career started.👍👏👏👏💜
Saw the Guess Who back in 1976, and Burton Cummings performed this song, as that was the same year it was released. He was so amazing, and this has been one of my all-time favorites for the past 40+ years! Thanks for another great reaction and choice, JM! ✌💙✌
Love this song and his voice so wonderful! Thanks for checking this one out too! ❤ I too love the bass line . He did say in an interview that it WAS being broken up with 9 yr relationship. He said "I'd never really lost at love before." Based on the interview the key word is "before," because it was unexpected break up from long-term relationship. Otherwise I agree totally with your analysis and it is a powerfully uplifting song to me too!
Can relate to this song so clearly after breaking up with my wife for 20 years and after 6 years apart i still love her and hurt everyday from this breakup....Brings tears to my eyes to hear this song.😢
Often Pride is justified, like taking pride in the quality of the content you create is certainly something you deserve and earned. I'm proud to have contributed.
Just for the avoidance of doubt, Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman wrote American Woman. "Version" suggests that they were performing something other than the original song. Maybe you just meant a particular performance of the song though. There's a much longer version they played a decade or so ago in Winnipeg, so maybe that's it.
"Stand Tall" Never been this blue Never knew the meaning of a heartache But then again, I've never lost at love before Somewhere down the road Maybe all these years will find some meaning I just can't think about it now, or live 'em out anymore Stand tall, don't you fall oh, don't go and do something foolish You're feeling it like everyone, it's silly human pride Stand tall, don't you fall. don't go do something you'll regret later You're feeling it like everyone, it's silly human pride Never lasted so long Or through so much - or through so many I just can't believe you could throw it all away Sometimes late at night When there's nothing here except my old piano I'd almost give my hands to make you see my way Stand tall, don't you fall oh, don't go and do something foolish You're feeling it like everyone, it's silly human pride You got me down on my knees for ya, mama Stand tall, don't you fall. don't go do something you'll regret later You're feeling it like everyone, it's silly human pride
The Guess Who should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are well honoured here in Canada. I love a great story from the world of Rock, stories that can only be told from first hand accounts and not from the tabloids. In the Link provided Burton recalls his encounter with Jim Morrison, the lead singer of The Doors. This is not a Reaction suggestion, but for personal interests, and just a great story not many know about. ua-cam.com/video/EQdgQgL8r3c/v-deo.html Great Reaction to Burton Solo, My Own Way To Rock would be my suggestion.
OH THANK YOU FOR THIS I'VE ASKED FOR THIS SONG EVERY WHERE.. THIS SONG JUST ABOUT SAVED MY LIFE, AND OTHERS... MY FRIENDS PLAYED THIS SONG ON A JUKE BOX AND AGAIN AND TOLD ME IT WILL BE ALRIGHT. WE DO NEED TO HAVE CONNECTIONS AND SUPPORT. SO GLAD I HAD THIS ERA IN MY TWENTIES. TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER. ❤
I had alot going on as a child, this song told me to " stand tall." As he sings, he changes his stance to demonstrate what it looks like to " stand tall." Nice reaction as always. Thank you.
Nice reaction!❤ Talent aside, Burton sported a moustache that was the best I've ever seen on the male species... except for maybe Wyatt Earp. The smile underneath it wasn't bad either.
Does anyone remember that movie he starred in where he was a washed up singer and a young lady answers his ad for an assistant. She ends up getting him back on track and they fall in love. I'm going to Google it.
The movie was called “Melanie” and it came out in 1982. You can watch it for free on youtube, just type in “Melanie 1982 movie”. It was a great movie, and I was shocked at what a great actor Burton Cummings was, he could’ve easily had a career as an actor had he wanted one.
"I'd almost give my hands to make you see my way."
For a piano player that's is a strong statement.

Yup, instantly recognizable
lots of good stuff from Burton..take your pick you can't go wrong. Born to sing.

Burton Cummings left The Guess Who and the band dissolved in 1975. You saw him as a solo artist in 1976.
This song always gives me goosebumps.
Break it to them Gently, I'm Scared are a couple more of his solo work. Great reaction
I had forgotten this beautiful song.....singing is amazing. Thankyou😊
JM... YOU Are The Man. Thanks again.

Burton Cummings is so talented!!! ❤️
Great choice to highlight his voice!
wow, Another great song! What a voice! thank you so much for sharing this with the world !
He’s an amazing writer and singer.
Btw he is STILL performing. He’s performing since the mid 1960s. He’s a favorite Canadian.
"FAVOURITE" Canadian...
This song makes me want to stand tall!
Great artist, fantastic voice.
Can relate to this song so clearly after breaking up with my wife for 20 years and after 6 years apart i still love her and hurt everyday from this breakup....Brings tears to my eyes to hear this song.😢
Burton is one of our national treasures. Somewhat like a Canadian Billy Joel, and like Billy still active and performing...
But twice the voice.
It was about depression. His lady left him after 10 years. He was sitting at the piano and this song came out of him.
Indeed, but the take away is defiance and ultimately overcoming and thriving in spite of ther betrayal.

And he can do it without a microphone! Despite the lip syncing, l love the song.
Live at the Paramount the Guess Who does an awesome version of American Woman. He does this vocal arobics, which shows what he can do vocally. Peace

@@SnowDogisVictorious yeah, Live at the Paramount. Bachman's not with them. It's an awesome album
I've never seen anyone else do a reaction to this! I love this song!! (Now I have two or three following this one!😂)
To must do Clap for the Wolfman.
Burton Cummings was the lead singer of the guess who! That voice though!
One of my favorite singers.
My favorite songs from him, Timeless Love
"Stand Tall"
Never been this blue
Never knew the meaning of a heartache
But then again, I've never lost at love before
Somewhere down the road
Maybe all these years will find some meaning
I just can't think about it now, or live 'em out anymore
Stand tall, don't you fall oh, don't go and do something foolish
You're feeling it like everyone, it's silly human pride
Stand tall, don't you fall. don't go do something you'll regret later
You're feeling it like everyone, it's silly human pride
Never lasted so long
Or through so much - or through so many
I just can't believe you could throw it all away
Sometimes late at night
When there's nothing here except my old piano
I'd almost give my hands to make you see my way
Stand tall, don't you fall oh, don't go and do something foolish
You're feeling it like everyone, it's silly human pride
You got me down on my knees for ya, mama
Stand tall, don't you fall. don't go do something you'll regret later
You're feeling it like everyone, it's silly human pride

Great Reaction to Burton Solo, My Own Way To Rock would be my suggestion.
Absolutely love this!!! He’s such a nice person 🖖🏻🇨🇦
THEEEE VOICE. Nuff said. It was about a failed love affair. He's talked about it before. It's his first hard breakup.
OH THANK YOU FOR THIS I'VE ASKED FOR THIS SONG EVERY WHERE.. THIS SONG JUST ABOUT SAVED MY LIFE, AND OTHERS... MY FRIENDS PLAYED THIS SONG ON A JUKE BOX AND AGAIN AND TOLD ME IT WILL BE ALRIGHT.

BC is 76 now and still out performing.
One of the best investments you ever made.... Those JBL Headphones.
one of Canada,s best
A voice for the ages...
I had alot going on as a child, this song told me to " stand tall." As he sings, he changes his stance to demonstrate what it looks like to " stand tall." Nice reaction as always. Thank you.
My favorite song of his is She's Come Undone.
Add another legendary name to your incredible Playlist names. Number 97
Highlights his voice.. great range.. not my favorite but his voice delivers a powerful punch
Nice reaction!❤

You should also check out Break it to them Gently
Long time gf told Burton she thought they needed a "hiatus". Left him when he was famous and later married a lawyer...i think she got it wrong imo 💚🎶🎵
You simply really do interpret the songs perfectly nice job young man!!!😘😘😘👍👍👍👍
I heard Burton say that song came out of his own experience after a girlfriend broke up with him.

"So Long, Banatyne:"
late-night top 40 am musical desolation...
Lesson, don’t keep your woman on ice too long…she will dump you for someone to keep her warm
His girl left him and he was depressed but finally realized it’s his pride that’s hurt he can get over it. Don’t do something drastic like suicide.
I like your reactions but I can’t stand your before and after music.
