  • Avon Rescue - Episode 1.
Founded by Jim Dudley in 1989, Tiger Racing had a reputation for crafting high-performance, lightweight sports cars.
The Avon was one of their most beloved models, a kit car car that combined classic British sports car aesthetics with modern engineering.
This is a kit car story that started long ago.
It began as a Kit Car Build Project which, tragically, went horribly wrong.
We do not know the details but somewhere along the line, this Brand New Tiger Avon kit build stopped and the unfinished "roller" was left abandoned for over 20 years.
The good news is that it was perfectly stored in a garage for all those years just waiting for someone to rescue it and complete the project.
Chris Hollier is just the right guy for this job and he recently stepped up to purchase the neglected kit.
Chris is no novice when it comes to working with kit cars.
He has built over 100 cars, developed his own kit car marque and was the editor of a well known Kit Car Magazine. ... He really knows his stuff!
Chris's clear plan is to take this failed kit car dream and create a Low Budget Hill Climb Monster!
He's not going all modern high tech and, instead, going old school on this one!
We'll see a well tuned Pinto with a port polished head, some carbureted joy and other goodies.
Episode 1 is dedicated to the Chassis and various modifications which have been made to the kit.
Chris is a large as life individual in spirit and stature.
He is a tallish kind of guy with size 11 shoes so some changes to the cockpit are necessary.
Some of the featured content show the "why and how" of:
    1. achieving a driving position for a taller driver (pedal box extension)
Chris created an aluminium foot well extension and moved the pedals too.
    2. hand brake ergonomics
7 handbrake levers are typically a "pain in the behind" and Chris created a lovely well so that it is stashed nicely out of the way.
    3. shift mechanism extension
Not Rocket Surgery but a point that is often overlooked in the planning stage.
    4. a practical Roll Bar solution
This is a budget build and Chris's solution is true the the Ron Champion (Locost) ethos.
