Mike, thanks for another headlight review! I watch every single one. One thing I wanted to mention though, was that little patch you were referring to on the left side of the cutoff. This shading is purposely designed to prevent intensity, at a specific test point, from exceeding DOT lighting requirements. The angle is *supposed* to coincide with wet pavement reflection which would cause glare to oncoming traffic. It was added to the Federal Register in March 1997. In order for headlamps to be in compliance with the rules, lamp makers achieve this shading through various optical techniques. This is why its appearance can vary between vehicles. Some headlights may incorporate a dip, or a swoop, or a cutout, or a step, etc. Though this shading can serve also as way to reduce offensive light directed to the eyes of traffic when the pitch angle changes due to uneven road surfaces, that isn't what it was designed for. ;)
Great stuff. I recently did 1000kn in one day, and Avensis lighting really did make a night-and-day difference compared to my previous car. The auto high beam is powerful stuff. I didn't test the Adaptive front lighting that swivel around corners, but I look forward to another night drive.

Do the headlights swivel at all when you turn the wheel. From what i know the previous generation did.
